As per previous reviews the Hotel Tyl lived upto our expectations. It is located 25 metres from the excellent Tram and Metro transport system. We caught the number 22 Tram for example and it stopped about 100 metres from the entrance to the Castle. A 3 day transport pass cost about £5.50 and it was valid on Trams, Metro and buses. A good vegetarian restaurant called Radost is also just around the corner and we ate there 4 nights running, the service and quality of meals were good. We used Prague airport shuttle and it was a reassuring sight to see a driver holding up a board with your name on it at the airport, it cost about £15 to your hotel and they pick you up at a pre-arranged time at the hotel for the return journey.(prague-airport-shuttle com)

We met up with friends Paul and Joyce, in Prague and had a great time. The hotel was excellent, very clean and modern. The staff were very helpful particularly Katarina. Breakfast was continental, ideal for our needs. We booked a taxi from the airport and back via Prague-airport- shuttle which was a real bonus as the driver was very infomative. Eating out cost about the same as at home. We found a nice place on the last day - coming out of the hotel trun right and at the end of the street there is a pub serving typical pub grub, with a wide and varied menu. The tram stop is just around the corner and tickets can be bought at the metro station just round the same corner. We did a lot of walking so the boat rip was a good idea for giving our feet a break. The castle is worth a visit but could take all day if you wanted to. We did a litte shopping and visited the christmas market which was nice, the hot wine is a must! The weather wasn't too bad, not cold at all really and only a little rain at night. We had hoped to see the Beatles black light theatre show but it was cancelled at the last minute so we decided to do the ghost tour instead - big mistake, a total waste of money so don't bother. We also did a tour in a vintage car which was informative and good fun, the cost between four of us wasn't too bad. It is worth finding some of the restaurants off the beaten track as we found some nice ones after we had eaten. The bars stop serving at midnight so if you want to party on the hotel bar is your best bet. We only took local currency with us and Visa is widely accepted.

All in all we had a great time and would reccommed the hotel and a visit to Prague but four nights is more than enough time to do pretty much everything particularly at the end of November.

Just returned from Prague after 4 days staying at this excellent hotel. Staff very professional with very good English, nothing was too much trouble. Ask the receptionists for places to eat, as restaurants close to the hotel are much cheaper/better than in Wenceslas Sq. This is about a 10 minute walk from the hotel, or get a tram which is just around the corner. Although Prague is very cold at this time, all the pubs/hotel rooms were very warm, wear layers! Make sure you find the Savoy cafe, if you like olde world coffee shops, with waiters in waistcoats, try their special! Not far from the Charles Bridge. The Jazz club, just off the square is a must.

Going to Prague ? Look no further than this excellent 3 star hotel. Very clean, spacious rooms, good breakfast and very friendly staff. Located 2 mins walk from metro station I.P Pavlova and 10 mins walk from the top of Wencleslas Square we found it an ideal location. Save about £15 on a taxi fare aswell by catching a number 119 bus from the airport then get straight onto the brilliant metro system. (Change once at 'Muzeum') We were in our room less than hour after collecting our suitcase and it only cost about 30p each !!! Try the 'Bumerang' Australian Resteraunt 2 mins from hotel, excellent meal, cheap drinks, good atmosphere. We had a lovely weekend break in Prague, hope you do to.

The Tyl Hotel was very nice, a lot nicer than other three star hotels we have stayed in. Rooms were clean and maid service very good, breakfast was also good. Hotel is in a good location, right next to tram and metro stations. Booked flights through BMI Baby - flights good value.

We enjoyed Prague it is a very nice place however before going I would definatley print of a map of the public transport systems and find out the names of the stops that you need to get off at for old town, wenceslas square etc because on our first day we spent most of the time riding round on trams without a clue where we were going! I would also avoid going to the National Museum unless you speak Czech, the displays would probably be interesting if they had any descriptions in English, however the only English you'll find is 'do not touch'. Nice restauraunts we went to were called 'U Stoupa' which was just down the road from the Old Town square, this played live 'dinner music' which was very nice and another restauraunt on the old town sqare was 'starometski restrauce' which was very nice and reasonably priced.

We booked airport transfers through www prague-airport-shuttle com which we would recommend- the drivers tell you which places to go, what to watch out for etc. which is very helpful.

I would definatly reccommend Prague however before going i would research the attractions so you know what you are looking at because information is often not in Enlish or go with a guide to places like the castle.
