Ibis Smichov Reviews

Prague is a very picturesque city catering mainly for the young to middle age group. Many clubs and bars with drink prices half of the cost in UK. Easy Jet have made Prague very accessable from Bristol Airport with groups of young people, stag parties etc going there for weekend breaks.
UK shops Marks and Spencer, Debenhams, CandA,and Tesco have retail outlets there. Clothes are priced the same or dearer than UK.
I did not find the local people friendly or the service in the shops very good.

I have just come back form a 4 day break to prague, and it was wonderful. Very cold and snowing but you couldnt complain with all the historical buildings and sites to see it beats london anyday. I would recommend it to anyone the beer is cheap, the cigarettes are cheap, and the food is cheap and the hotel was lovely and the locals were very friendly. How could you complain???? I will be going back in the distant future thats a promise.

Flights booked with bmi baby. Great flights and very cheap. Don't rush to book flights as they have gone up in price for next year so wait for sale days.

I am a travel agent so booked accom with a company called Goldmedal for the Ibis Smichov which was really cheap £80 total for 2 people for 2 nights and rated 3*. Taxi from airport to hotel 500CZK which is approx £12 and takes 15mins.You will get a taxi straight away.Arrived at hotel which is fantastic, very new and modern. I would rate this hotel a 4* and for £40per room per night you can't go wrong.

Tram stop down the road to Wenceslas and old town square but hard to figure out so just got taxis from right outside entrance of hotel. You can walk but takes about 25mins, and when its -4 outside its not a nice walk. Taxi to old town approx £5 and a little less to Wenceslas. BEWARE of taxi prices as we got scammed. Some taxis are on a meter others are priced at a set rate.We got in a taxi with a meter to get back to hotel and got stuck in traffic and ended up paying £12 for a usual 5 minute journey. So ask the price before you get in.But if you can figure out the trams and cope with being crammed in them then you can get from A to B cheap.

Beer still cheap but prices have gone up in general, I think to stop the increase in stag partys.Prague castle is a must, approx £10 each to visit the whole castle and grounds, this will take up a day. Also did the Ghost walk £6 each, wouldn't bother with this as it isn't worth it and we did a horse and cart ride around the old square which cost £15 and was very good. Xmas markets really good. Plenty of other excursions but not cheap.

All in all Prague is fantastic, hotel I can't recommend enough, will def go back but be warned it is not as cheap as people make out.

Excellent hotel 3 tram stops from centre staff very friendly and helpful. Hotel very modern in design. TV with some english channels, shower only no bath Continental breakfast more than enough cereal toast, ham cheese etc. Evening meals looked good although we did not eat there. Safety deposit boxes at reception no charge use them (see note on pickpockets below.)

Tram stops Andel 100 meters from hotel easy to use ticket for 3 days 200 krons c £4.60. (available at hotel) which can be used on tube and buses as well. Make sure you stamp your ticket in yellow boxes on trams and at underground entrance otherwise illeagal and can be fined on the spot.
Big supermarket next door plus loads of shops in vacinity if you need anything. Pub accross the road from hotel very good for food and drink and cheaper than hotel. Three meals drinks all night c£24.Try the goulash if you go local but chicken pork steak all available.

Best tours are on foot from Old Town Square we did old town and castle most start at 11am by astronomical clock in old town square cost for 2 hour tour 300 krons (£6)english speaking guide look for yellow umbrella (prague walks).
Prague is beautiful enjoy only problem is pickpockets watch out on underground (they work in groups and jossle you as you try to get on)and crowded areas like the castle and old town square but don't let that put you off.

Finally for transfer from airport try www prague-airport-shuttle com english speaking driver meets you at airport/ hotel set price depends on party size and gives you lots of info excellent service.
