I travelled alone to Cairo April 2008, and had to be very streetwise and wary, despite my extensive experiences of other African countries. In particular beware of the taxi drivers who seem to be particularly unscrupulous. If shopping is your thing, you can til you drop and the prices are seriously cheap There are mosques in abundance to visit and churches also. If you want to experience the pyramids then I advise staying out at Giza - the Mena House Oberoi is severely impressive - then you can take your time. A trip for brave single women only!
