The Iberotel in Luxor was great, the hotel was spotless and your towels in your room were changed daily. The restaurants were lovely and the food, although a little repetitive at times, was great. The staff were very helpful and friendly and overall the hotel was clean and comfortable and i wouldnt hesitate in recommending it to anybody looking for a relaxing getaway or as a base for visiting historical sites.
Luxor is great to visit if you are interested in visiting egyptian historical sites or just lazing by the pool, there isnt really any nightlife in the area we stayed, but this wasnt the purpose of our trip. If you are looking for a beach and party holiday ...

Had read good reviews of this hotel and it more than surpassed expectations, particularly Khaled the waiter, he was lovely every day and not just on 'tips' day when everyone is going home, his favourite saying was 'it's my job, and I love my job' and he genuinely meant it !! Yes, you get hassled when you leave the hotel by the caleche drivers, by the taxi drivers, by the felucca sailors, by the shop owners, you name it, they want your money, but you soon get used to keeping on walking and not making eye contact. If you want good advice and fantastic prices for trips go see Hamdi in the Hotel shop, he got us an air conditioned luxury car, a driver and a guide including all entrance tickets in the Vally of the Kings, Valley of the Queens and Hatchepsuts Temple for £60 for 3 people, no hanging around, spent as long as we wanted in each place and fantastic, guide..........everyone should go to egypt at least once in their lifetime, it's ever changing - buy souvenirs from Hamdi, Mahmoud and Shadi, they are brilliant
it's not a relaxing holiday, it's important to be up early and see the monuments, but then you have the rest of the day to relax, catch up on sleep and get some sun - factor 50 sun lotion vital as is a hat !! but amazing place and people when you take the t...

Travelled with my family and we absolutely loved the hotel. Everyone was friendly we stayed half board and the selection of food was excellent. Room service was very good and the management excellent. The waiter was always around to fill up your cup with coffee or tea and always with a smile. The location of the hotel was also excellent because it was easy to get to where you wanted to go in Luxor. Karnak Temple was just a walk away.
Our rooms overlook the road and we thought it would be noisy but it wasn't. The hotel have a lovely garden with its own floating pool.
Excellent resort with lots to do.

We absolutely loved the hotel, it was better than we thought it would be and everyone is very friendly. We paid for BandB and there was a large selection of food to choose from and the waiter armed with tea and coffee always seems to be there to refill your cups. We tried the buffet restaurant, Italian and Chinese which weren't bad but being hotel restaurants they were more expensive than if you eat outside.
We were on the 5th floor with a Nile View (lucky for us we got a free upgrade as we had just got engaged). Was nice watching the hot air balloons go up in the early morning (not tempted to try myself as I was too terrified). The rooms were cleaned daily and we found that if we were out during the day the cleaners seemed to magically appear as soon as we got back to see how we liked the room (to try and get a tip). The gardens were beautiful and the pool on the floating barge on the Nile shook slighly whenever a motorboat went passed, had lovely views of the West Bank.
It was our first visit to Egypt and wanted to do as much as we could. Having travelled with Thomsons before we were well aware of the prices of their trips so we did a lot of research before hand and found a local tour guide. If we had done the trips with Thomson we would have only been able to go on two trips but for the same price with the local guide we did the following.....2 trips to the West Bank which included 6 tombs, a trip to the East Bank to see Luxor and Karnak temples, back to Karnak for the evening light and sound show, a felucca trip to banana island at sunset, dinner on a motor boat, trip on a caleche, trip to Abydos and Denerah temples. We later added on another trip on a felucca and a trip to Aswan. Our tour operator Hassany and guide Abdul were great, they made everything informative and relaxing. Made the trips even better getting an understanding of what we were seeing, and couldn't do enough for us to make our holiday an enjoying one.
The only drawback is when you leave the hotel you draw the attention of taxi and caleche drivers and also people on the street who see you are tourists and hassle you a lot. (no hassle is a phrase you will hear often, though hassle is what you get). I'm quite shy and found this a bit too much. I love going into the gift shops but also put off by the ";no hassle"; shouts then not able to find a price on anything and they come out with some ridiculous price.....never pay more than a third of their original price.
That aside we had a wonderful time and didn't want to come home. Would also recommend the 12 hour cruise on the nile on the Lotus Boat which was alongside our hotel, was a lovely relaxing day plus they sell gifts much cheaper than in the shops.

This was the first time at the Iberotel, we have stayed previously at the Sonesta St George, Sonesta is a beautiful hotel, but having stayed there so many times we didnt want to be in the clique that exists there. So off we went to Iberotel, this hotel is nearer the sights,Luxor and Karnak Temples, ferry to West Bank, nearer to Old Winter Palace, and Etap hotel(good place if you like dancing)etc.
I contacted the hotel by email, booked an upgrade to a superior room with nile view £90 for the week, because of the upgrade all the staff knew our name, it was Mr Simpson this or that not real!
The room 509 was brilliant, large balcony, view over the nile and theban hills, could even see Queen Hatchepsut`s temple, refurbished bathroom, large fridge(essential) queensize bed. The hotel gardens are really stunning, lots of trees, lawns to die for, colourful plants a real picture, super terraces to sit in the shade and have a beer, looking down to the river, a proper swimming pool, that floats on the nile, service around the pool is superb, sunbeds and towels provided. Breakfast is excellent, there are a couple of restaurants in the hotel, the Italian was very good, the Chinese was a bit iffy, my meal was super my missus didnt enjoy hers. There are plenty of other restaurants outside the hotel anyway. We really enjoyed our first stay. We have booked a further week in November of this year, and for 2 weeks next March. The Iberotel is 3 stars, the Sonesta for 5 stars, but I would say Iberotel is 4 and 1/2 stars.
Can definatly recommend the Iberotel, not for children, mind why anyone should take children to Luxor is beyond me.
