Take plenty of stomach tablets as you will need them as well as hand washing gel as everyone seems to have stomach problems.
Apart from the first day the food wasnt great and the fruit tasted strange so I'm not sure whether it was washed in there water.
The entertainment was a man singing in the bar of an evening which was a bit dull after one night.
Luxor town is quite daunting and some of the beggars can be quite nasty, you are harrassed for as long as you are there, though the horse and carriage was nice.
Very friendly people in the hotel and wanted to please as much as they could, drinks could be expensive but cheap in the town.
Went in August which is very hot, too hot to sunbathe but nice to sit in the pool with a book or two!!
too hot not there fault, stomach problems could be the heat or the hotel,

on arrival we thought it was a wonderful place, the rooms were very good and comfortable, the island its self was breath taking, the pools were very well kept so were the gardens, you can walk around the full island with staff there to tell you about the plants and what ever else was growing and about the old equipment the you see , the infinity pool is a wonderfull way to spend a relaxing day by it with pool service when ever you need it with cleo the camel offering a rider any time you wanted , which leads me to the zoo the croc is feed on a sunday which is fun to watch , the monkeys are very cute and love grapes with we did daily as well as cleo with bannanas, they play football on fridays and sundays which is hard to do in the heat but amazing to see the locals play, there are many trips to take advantage of we took 5 trips and enjoyed them all,the food was good value for the money we had room service afew times which is fun to do,luxor town is an eye opener as to the culture which is very poor, we had our own taxi which we rang the same man everytime and became a good friend, the bar staff in the kings bar are great hasan was our barman and was always ready to take are order, i would go back tomorrow if i could its an amazing place and very relaxing place to be.

On arrival the hotel looked lovely but on reaching our room it was clear that the 5 star rating was a little bit optimistic. The room decor was very dated and needed total upgrading.Rooms were cleaned daily to a high standard by very friendly pleasant staff. The food was ok but lacked in variety. Try the hotel restaurant 'La Fleur' for excellent food and service. Thought they did karaoke when we first went into the Kings Bar in the hotel but then realised that it was the resident entertainers who were quite frankly terrible.Spent our time trying to work out what song was being sung. Over the week they murdered many a good song.
Luxor is a place for relaxation, culture and history not for those looking for a lively nightlife. Karnak and Luxor temples are well worth a look as is Luxor Museum, the Valley of the Kings is only a short taxi drive from the centre of Luxor. Eating out can...

This has been our sixth holiday in Luxor and this being our third visit to the Jolie Ville.
As this hotel is situated on Crocodile Island it is an ideal hotel to stay as it is away from all the hassle.
The hotel has the best location in Luxor.
The rooms are all set in bungalows in the most beautiful grounds. We were lucky enough this time to have a room facing the Nile, so picturesque and peaceful.
There is everything you could ask for at this hotel.
The breakfast is buffet style which caters for all tastes.
There are two pools...the Relaxing pool which is for adults only and is as the name suggests and the Infinity pool which caters for adults and children. When you look at the Infinity pool it's as though it flows straight into the Nile.
The staff all through the hotel from the bell boys through to management are so friendly and nothing is too much trouble.
There is also a small zoo and the resident camel, Cleo, can be seen everyday strolling through the grounds offering camel rides or just wanting a pat!
There is also a medical centre, tennis courts ( though who wants to play tennis in that heat? ), a fitness centre and a beauty salon, ( I can recommend threading ).
Luxor is the safest place we have visited as there are tourist police every few yards as well as egyptian and secret police, not that we have ever seen or heard of any trouble.
Life is extremely hard for the people of Egypt that is why the tourists do suffer hassle especially from the Kaleche and taxi drivers, but having made a lot of friends over the years and seeing how they live we can understand why. If it gets annoying at times just say "; La Shuchram "; or as a last resort "; Imshe";.
We have found the best places to eat are Snobs ( and their new cheap and cheerful Tramps ) 7 Days 7 Ways, The Dragon ( Chinese ) La Mama at the Sheraton and Pizza Hut.
Please when you do go shopping .... haggle, it's expected. For instance this time I needed new Gellaba's and decided to try the Souk. I found two I liked in a shop but his opening price for both was £65 I said I was only prepared to pay £20 (as I have bought them in the past). After ten minutes haggling and walking out of the shop he agreed on £21. So, it's fun and worthwhile.
Please do not be afraid of Luxor, get out of your hotel, book trips (always a lot cheaper outside the hotel and just as safe)eat outside of the hotel and meet the people of Luxor!
If you happen to find the mosquito's like you or something doesn't like your tummy don't use anything from home visit the local chemists, they know best.
Enjoy Luxor...we do!
