Sharm is a developing tourist area, so there are lots of hotels half built - not making it a great sight for current tourists! Most shops are not in walking distance from hotels unless you are in one of the large shopping areas like Naama Bay or Naba Bay, however transport is cheap and easy to come across. The beaches are okay, due to the protected coral its not possible to walk into the sea, you have to go off platforms which would make it difficult for poor swimmers or children; but once in the water it is beautifully clear and warm with lots of fish to spot! Although we never ate out, we were told by others the price for food and drink were extremely reasonable in most bars and restaurants, however, from personally going to Pacha nightclub i know the drinks in there were extremely expensive (£10 english for a vodka and coke). However by going with your hotel animation team you should be able to get around this by getting an all inclusive ticket (travel, entry and drinks all night) but make sure to double check this before buying! Some nights only include 2 drinks! There are plenty of trips to go on in Sharm, and despite the 12 hour round trip visiting Cairo for the pyramids is a must. They are currently building a rope around them, meaning soon you will not be able to touch, climb on or go into them like we were; and it really is a once in a lifetime opportunity. We also went on a boat trip for diving and snorkelling which was okay, there were over 20 other boats there, each with at least 30-40 people on; and we were later told you can see virtually the same fish by the beach than on the boat trip. The last trip we went on was the Jeep Safari across the desert, which was by far the most fun we had the whole holiday. We asked the driver to go faster, and we were easily driving at over 120km/h across the desert; jumping all over the place in the back of the jeep. This trip also included visiting the Bedwin people that live in the desert, shopping at a hassle free mall and snorkelling.

Sharm is a great place. We stayed in the Sharks Bay area. The beach is great, great to cool off in the sea. There is a lot to do in the resort, it is just sooo hot though!!! Might try going in the winter next time.

Sharm has nothing to offer as a town. Make sure you chose a good hotel. The 'old'town is circa 1960's and the shops are poor.

"Little to see locally outside village"

Overall Resort Rating:

Average

Open quote

Little to do outside the hotel locally. Not easy crossing the roads on a night, as not everyone uses their car lights, and most drive as if they are in a rally. The beaches however, and the sea are the most beautiful , and you are not fighting for a sunbed or swinging kingsize hammock.

Used Aquarius Trips on the beach behind Red Sea Village, and would recommend them to anyone, reliable, fairly priced, friendly and helpful. Swim with the dolphins trip not to be missed!!

"Nabq Bay is a lovely area"

Overall Resort Rating:

Very Good

Open quote

Nabq Bay is a strip of hotels, still being heavily developed. There are enough shops and KFC, McDs, TGI Fridays and a Hard Rock Cafe being built. All locals are friendly and most of the time you are around your hotel pool/beach anyway. Would not want to be in Naarma Bay! Nabq is the ideal family location. Take a walk along beach front to the left along path looking at all the other hotels, who can hire quad bikes along this path for 50 E pound half an hour all ages. Just got home and am already looking to book next October half term for my 40th Birthday!

Enjoyed the all inclusive package at Jaz Mirabel Beach too much so never ventured outside other reason was the hotel complex was a bit isolated from the shops in Nabq.

Beware of some of the bars. We went into Naama bay our 1st night and the bar staff tried to charge us £90 yes £90 for 4 drinks. If you are not familiar with the money you can easily be taken advantage of. Luckily our friends have previously been to egypt and knew how much things should cost. We didn't pay refused and left what it should cost and walked out of the bar. the rest of Naama bay lovely by night all lit up, plenty of restaurants if you get sick of all inclusive.

Sharm is great but we had such a bad experience (everything was bad from food to lodging) with this hotel and we were fortunate enough to find another hotel. Our advice is to shop around before deciding.
