The resort was very quiet, consisting of 5 hotels from one end of the resort to the other, some of the hotels looked liked prisions but our hotel The Sofitel was the best by far.The only shops are the ones at the Three Corners, much cheaper than the ones at the hotel but again not a lot there, there are also a few resturants at the 3 Corners but we didnt try any of these although some people we met did and gave them rave reviews. There is a local free bus that takes you all around the resort if needed or you can walk if you feel fit enough. There is also water world on the resort where you can go para sailing, diving ect if you feel inclined but again we didnt try any of these. All in all Taba is very quiet with not much night life or shopping oppotunities but if you want to relax then its a place i would reccommend.

We have just returned from 2 weeks staying at the Sofitel and having read some of the reviews before we went we were slightly worried, but our worries were unfounded as we had a fab time. The Sofitel is the best hotel on the resort, exceptionally clean and friendly. The 3 main pools are joined by an island, towels are provided for both pool and beach and if you give Mohammed (the pool guy) a small tip you can guarantee your towels are put out for you each morning before you were up. The beach is a bit rocky and beach shoes are recommended when going into the sea.The sea is really warm and the snorkelling is a must although you can just stand in the sea and the fish will swim round your legs while you watch them. The staff were very friendly and went out of their way to accommadate us in anything we wanted. The food although repetative was fine and the desserts were to die for,we have 2 fussy teenagers but they never went hungry. We had one issue throughout our holiday and it was sorted to our satisfaction by management by the end of the day. We went on 1 trip with the company to Cairio which was very long leaving at 3 in the morning and travelling 6 hours on a mini bus(YES MINI BUS)arriving at Cairio at about 10am.We picked up an egyptoligist who was really good and during the day did the Cairio musuem, the pyramids and sphinx, lunch was included at the hard rock cafe which the kids loved and we headed back about 4.30pm arriving back at our hotel about 11 that night.A hard trip but worth it to see the sights which was amazing but we wouldnt go back to Cairio again (been there, done that, the kids got the t shirt). Evening entertainment was limited although there was karoke and various dancing etc, good for a laugh if nothing else. We met loads of lovely people in our two weeks and everyone talks to everyone else in the hotel. Me and my husband have already decided to go back on our own as the only down fall we felt was there was nothing for our girls to do as the resort was so quiet, and they were slightly bored as the weeks went on. All in all we had a great holiday and feel Egypt is definatly the place for us.

NOT THE PLACE FOR YOUNGSTERS WANTING NIGHTLIFE BUT IDEAL FOR THOSE OF US WANTING A QUIET DRINK IN A BAR OR A NICE MEAL IN A RESTAURANT! THE BEACHES ARE CLEAN AND PLENTY OF SUNBEDS SAND IS VERY HOT THOUGH! YOU WILL NEED WATER SHOES AS THERE IS CORAL IN THE SEA. "Value for Money & Thimply the Beth"

Tried Pub Tandoor, was pleasantly surprised with the quality of food and service. The golf course is challenging, though some wide fairways, the rest what we would have rough in England would be semi compact sand.

It has the best location of the other hotels.

Background: well travelled, always post a review, seventh visit to Egypt. I know what to expect in Egypt.

This was the worse hotel I have stayed in not just in Egypt but ever (well one B&B in Greece runs it close). There was NO service. NO drinks with meals unless you took them through from the bar yourself. I say THE bar because that is all there is one bar for evenings (beach and pool bar close at 5). THE bar is in the hotel foyer and its like sitting in a train station bar with people with cases all over the place and no comfortable seats. Many people having to sit on sunbeds in dark at pool. Oh and plastic glasses for all the drinks even in the evenings its great.

Food: by far the worse I have ever had. I am sick of chips. That was all I could eat as could many others. The food was dire. Every meal dinner and tea from right to left tarreens (spelling?) rice, beef something, chicken something, veg, fish, pizza (crap) then some other bits. People had plastic and glass and all kinds of stuff in the salad. They warm the food with candles under the grub. The candles go out, the food gets cold then they bring more candles and the food heats up, great for bugs and many people had the trots. We did, a party of four people for the week. We complained and became the anti christs and were treated like lepers.

Oh and forget "if the food is bad we can go the other A la cart restauraunts". The specialist grub is cooked by the same chef in the main kitchen and carried up the road to both the steak house and the italian which brings me to the chef and other kitchen staff. Dressed like car mechanics not chefs with so much dirt on the clothes it is unreal. I mean really grubby whites and trousers. No care for appearence.

Sorry, to spread the bad news. Still fuming over this holiday. We lost a day due to XL airways going bust and we were happy. Another couple lost 8 days and they were happy. Speaks volumes.

Oh the beach was okay but trust me prepare for a week of regrets, best of luck. If you have not booked yet PLEASE DONT. We booked this because we went Sol Y MAr makadi marine in July and it was great (See review). This is also a Sol y Mar but the complete opposite, dire in fact.

Sick as a pig on this one but wont be put off Egypt. There was NO service what so ever here. Could go on and on but want to forget this horrendous holiday and this aint helping LMAO. Email me at smarties_21 at hotmail .com for info cheers

Need to change the animation team or get them to incorporate more activates on evening for a wider audience other than a disco which does not start till 11.00 pm. The competitions need to be started a little earlier and more thought go into them, as whilst we were there the Mr & Mrs competition never took place and they did not have a back up plan to cater for this only played their choice of music which was always Egyptian and belly dance music. When we did request certain music we were just ignored and they carried on doing their own thing.

The hotel and staff were lovely, the food was below average and we had to eat out on our second week 5 times, it was a good job that the complex had different restaurants to eat at and their staff were very helpful and spoke good English. The animation team...

The hotel and staff were lovely, the food was below average and we had to eat out on our second week 5 times, it was a good job that the complex had different restaurants to eat at and their staff were very helpful and spoke good English. The animation team need to improve a great deal, their music choice was mainly geared around the teenagers and to be honest the average age was about 35 who were staying there, which then left you with no other evening entertainment other than a disco and the occasional talent competition again mainly for the younger female generation. Families with young children would also struggle as they did not cater for them either with food or entertainment. Would recommend going on a trip through MAX as he was a lot cheaper then the holiday companies, would recommend the sea snorkeling and Blue Hole trips, the guides were very friendly and spoke very good English and couldn't do enough for you whilst you were with them.

We stayed a week at the Radisson SAS at the beginning of September. The hotel was amazing and we had a brilliant time. The rooms are spotless and spaced out in small villa-like buildings. The pools are big in size and always extremely clean. Enough sunbeds to go around, with enough spare to not have to get up at 7am to get one. The beach is also lovely, with a beach bar. The staff are the friendlist I have ever experienced abroad. They truly made our stay that extra bit special. The food isn't fantastic, but its nice enough to eat until you feel full. The starlight dinner night was the highlight of our holiday. Up on the mountains, staff cook traditional egyptian food on a bbq, and you are entertained by egyptian dancers. You can also have a ride on a camel and smoke a shisha pipe. We also did the diving in the red sea, which was also an amazing experience. We are returning to this hotel in a couple of months time, and I would recommend the stay to anyone.

We went the 2nd week in Feb 2008 and were extremely lucky to have wonderful weather, especially as the previous week had been mostly overcast, but think this time of year does tend to be a bit pot luck, but as I don't like it over 30 degrees was not prepared to go to much later in the year and not be able to take the heat! The hotel was fab we paid for a room upgrade and we just walked from our apartment over to the beach, it was worth the extra. Loads of room, great big shower, cleanliness of whole place was spot on. The staff were all very friendly and it was apparent they like the English (yippee someone does!). There was a good mix of nationalities: Russian, French, & even some Egyptians! The food was good, and they tried extremely hard to cater for everyone, but I found it a little repetitive, but then I have never heard of a famous Egyptian chef and again this is not what Egyptians are famous for either! The breakfasts were the best and you had an egg chef who prepared eggs any way you wanted them in the morning, always plenty of variety of breads and the desserts were good, if a bit sticky and sweet. Entertainment... well you had to laugh really it was the staff who mostly put this on, but hey you're on holiday enjoy it anyway!!

We flew from Newcastle to Sharm el sheik, then had two and a half hour private taxi transfer to Taba. Hotel was clean enough- towels and sheets changed daily and room cleaned to a high standard. We usually holiday in Luxor and go 5* so we knew this would not be as luxurious. It was better than expected, after reading lots of negative comments I now feel were unjustified. The staff are fantastic, they cannot do enough for you. Lots of things for kids to do. Clubs and the animation team keep them occupied most of the time. We had just our 19yr old daughter and are used to a more quiet type of hotel, but made good friends with a family of nine who kept us entertained for the two weeks. The setting of the hotel is picturesque with the mountains surrounding it, with a view of the red sea, but not enough to do for us at night, we felt as though we were stuck on the complex, and in August it was even too hot to be bothered to do much anyway even in the evening. the animation team were very good, but our daughter was plagued by one member who was to say the least- DISCOURTEOUS- bordering on down right rude. He would not leave her alone, we left a complaint on leaving as I had read that if you complain about any of them, you get terrible service for the rest of your holiday. We were ready for home by the end of the fortnight, but weather great, very hot. Food good, second week got a bit sick of the repetition, so other restaurants nearby were good.Had no problems with getting sun loungers, tipped pool boy as advised, again, staff first class. Some bad mannered foreigners took the shine off things, won't be returning to Three Corners, its back to Luxor for us.
