"Value for Money & Thimply the Beth"

I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys snorkeling with plenty of marine life in as shallow as 4 feet of water. Waiters always served with a smile and nothing is too much of the problem Excellent value for money and the service is almost impeccable. ...

I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys snorkeling with plenty of marine life in as shallow as 4 feet of water. Waiters always served with a smile and nothing is too much of the problem Excellent value for money and the service is almost impeccable. It meets upto the 4/5 star rating. It has the best location of the other hotels.

OverallVery Good Resort

Tried Pub Tandoor, was pleasantly surprised with the quality of food and service. The golf course is challenging, though some wide fairways, the rest what we would have rough in England would be semi compact sand.

We have just returned from 2 weeks staying at the Sofitel and having read some of the reviews before we went we were slightly worried, but our worries were unfounded as we had a fab time. The Sofitel is the best hotel on the resort, exceptionally clean and friendly. The 3 main pools are joined by an island, towels are provided for both pool and beach and if you give Mohammed (the pool guy) a small tip you can guarantee your towels are put out for you each morning before you were up. The beach is a bit rocky and beach shoes are recommended when going into the sea.The sea is really warm and the snorkelling is a must although you can just stand in the sea and the fish will swim round your legs while you watch them. The staff were very friendly and went out of their way to accommadate us in anything we wanted. The food although repetative was fine and the desserts were to die for,we have 2 fussy teenagers but they never went hungry. We had one issue throughout our holiday and it was sorted to our satisfaction by management by the end of the day. We went on 1 trip with the company to Cairio which was very long leaving at 3 in the morning and travelling 6 hours on a mini bus(YES MINI BUS)arriving at Cairio at about 10am.We picked up an egyptoligist who was really good and during the day did the Cairio musuem, the pyramids and sphinx, lunch was included at the hard rock cafe which the kids loved and we headed back about 4.30pm arriving back at our hotel about 11 that night.A hard trip but worth it to see the sights which was amazing but we wouldnt go back to Cairio again (been there, done that, the kids got the t shirt). Evening entertainment was limited although there was karoke and various dancing etc, good for a laugh if nothing else. We met loads of lovely people in our two weeks and everyone talks to everyone else in the hotel. Me and my husband have already decided to go back on our own as the only down fall we felt was there was nothing for our girls to do as the resort was so quiet, and they were slightly bored as the weeks went on. All in all we had a great holiday and feel Egypt is definatly the place for us.

We went the 2nd week in Feb 2008 and were extremely lucky to have wonderful weather, especially as the previous week had been mostly overcast, but think this time of year does tend to be a bit pot luck, but as I don't like it over 30 degrees was not prepared to go to much later in the year and not be able to take the heat! The hotel was fab we paid for a room upgrade and we just walked from our apartment over to the beach, it was worth the extra. Loads of room, great big shower, cleanliness of whole place was spot on. The staff were all very friendly and it was apparent they like the English (yippee someone does!). There was a good mix of nationalities: Russian, French, & even some Egyptians! The food was good, and they tried extremely hard to cater for everyone, but I found it a little repetitive, but then I have never heard of a famous Egyptian chef and again this is not what Egyptians are famous for either! The breakfasts were the best and you had an egg chef who prepared eggs any way you wanted them in the morning, always plenty of variety of breads and the desserts were good, if a bit sticky and sweet. Entertainment... well you had to laugh really it was the staff who mostly put this on, but hey you're on holiday enjoy it anyway!!

Taba is really just a resort with 5 big hotels, not much else, but if you want rest & relaxation, with a few evening strolls a quite drink in the hotel, and you enjoy diving, then this is definately the place.

If you have holidayed in Egypt before you may be disapointed as this hotel is very much do it your self. At lunch and dinner wine is avalable or cold drinks tea coffee but you help yourself as you do with food. At the pool or on the beach you go and fetch your drinks no waiter service having been to Egypt in 2006 and 2005 we found this totally different to the experience at Namm bay. Other people we spoke to who had been to different resorts in Egypt also commented on the lack of service. Staff where very nice and loved to talk to you but be warned this is a self sevice hotel. Food not up to the standard we had in Namm soup and bread wondeful but main meals very repetative and quite often cold. Breakfast was deffinatly the best meal some one cooking eggs while you waited. Pool food was pizza or a pasta dish the two weeks we where there no other choice the mediterain resturant did not open at all the resurant serving eastern food was expensive as was the dine around meals at some of the other hotels particularly the drinks as these came from the bar where you got them every night on the all inclusive deal you felt a bit cheated this was the only place where you where waited on. A trip to Petra was the high light of the holiday for us a wonderful day out.

Hotel sofitel has a lovely beach and you can swim with the fish easily or just walk on the poontoon just befor sunset loads of the fish can be seen in the clear waters. There is a wind at Taba most days we had 3 days with no wind out of our 14 but we where on the beach 10 days out of 14. The hotel is large with a futher block being built at the time we where there. a lovely path between the sea and hotels means you can walk with ease round the area a free bus goes every half hour round the hotels and up to 3 courners where there are a few shops and bars There is also a new golf couse you have to take a buggy round. Water world offers lots to do on and in the water if you are energetic and there are lots of trips to go on. We came home relaxed and tanned but will not go back. Taba airport is up in the mountains so be preped for it to feel cold when you arrive and leave, can not copare with other Egytian holidays

This is the perfect holiday for anyone who wants peace and quiet. The weather is guaranteed wall to wall sun every day and extremely hot. Soak up the sun by the pool; when you get too hot just fall in the pool! When you get too wet crawl out of the pool and back on your sun lounger! And so the day goes on. Snorkelling and diving are available for those so inclined. Food is buffet and generally good. I am a vegetarian but I usually find stuff to eat. Don't expect much dairy though. Service is excellent and you will get that little bit more if you tip; a small tip of 1 Egyptian covers most things. As is usual in Egypt the tourist is King and you will be treated like royalty. Some people complained of food poisoning; we did not suffer at all in the two weeks we were there. You can avoid what appears to be "food poisoning" by not drinking alcohol until the evening, and not drinking cooled drinks either. It's your body reacting to the extreme heat and the ice cold lager you downed at breakfast that causes upset stomachs, and not the food. As for excursions...I fully recommend a visit to Petra in Jordan; this is the ancient city carved out of the hillside that was used in the Indiana Jones III film.

In general, if you want burger and chips, and don't like the heat, go to Blackpool. If you want to relax in guaranteed sunshine go to Taba Heights.
