When we arrived at Kittila airport it was very busy, it is only a small airport so it was packed! However it only took about 30 minutes to get our luggage, so not too bad. We had car hire (not as bad as you might think, but I didn't drive!) so we had to wait for the car hire guy to come into the airport terminal, by this time the Inghams coach had left to go to the resort. The drive to Levi took about 20 minutes even with my husband driving slowly, and we found our accomodation very easily. When we went inside we were surprised how warm it was (outside it was -17) The cabin was very pretty with a log fire and our own sauna, and even our toilet and shower floor was heated! There were 2 twin bedrooms downstairs and 4 beds upstairs in the mezzanine area, and we were happy to find the cot that we had requested for our baby. The kitchen was very well equipt with most things you would need. As we were self catering we had pizza on this night as we were not sure if the shop was still open. We ate out on 3 nights, at the K5 Hotel which was wonderful, the Hullu Poro - cheap and you can have as much as you want, and then at the Inghams xmas party.
The next day there was a welcome meeting with Inghams and we booked some activities, we went on a trip to a husky farm and a reindeer farm both were really enjoyable, but as our youngest was only 15 months at the time we were limited as to what we could do. As we had car hire it was quite easy for us to go off and explore the surrounding area on our own. One day we drove from Levi to Rovaniemi to visit Santa Village, it was very busy and because of this it wasn't very enjoyable with people pushing and shoving - there were adults pushing my 3 year old out of the way and I ended up having a go at said adults! It was also -23 on this day so we didn't want to keep such young children outside for a long time. Most of our time was spent just walking about the village and going to the shops, but this in itself was enjoyable, and our 3 year old loved being pulled around in a sledge. Levi is a wonderful place to go especially if you have children as it is geared towards families, it even has a creche where you can put them if you want to go snowmobiling and they are too young. However, if you are going without children you might prefer a resort called Yllas which is alot quieter, we drove there to have a look one day.
Anyway, we had a wonderful time and I can't wait to go back, this time I hope to see the Northern Lights.

We stayed for 4 days in Yllas which is in Northern Finland. We wanted picture postcard snowy forests and frozen lakes etc and we found it. Included in the package are 'tasters' of snowmobiles, husky rides and reindeer sleighs, however you are looking at 5 minutes each and it really helps if you can afford to take the optional excursions to really make the most of it. First Choice have the whole thing very well organised and I'd recommend them. The hotel was fine and there was always something good to eat. We stayed in a one bedroon apartment complete with sauna and log fire. The kids met Santa at a dinner on the last night to make the trip complete.
A very expensive few days, but well worth doing once, for the scenery and snow activities alone.
If you want a family holiday to a ski resort, some of you ski and some of you don't then this is your place!
We've been 5yrs on the trot and loved it more each time. The children can ski free upto age of 7yrs, some snowbaord, there's a free 'Kiddilan...

We've been 5yrs on the trot and loved it more each time. The children can ski free upto age of 7yrs, some snowbaord, there's a free 'Kiddiland' which has drag lifts, play houses, a fire with juice and sledges.
The accommodation is fantastic - we always stay in the same cabin which is detached, 90+m floor space, walk in sauna, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, coffee maker, Cd player, open fire, free wood etc. Fantastic place.

We stayed in Akas 1 room log cabin in the forest(200m from the hotel HB). Reindeers walking by. It was just magical settings! Cabin itself was quite simple although it had a fireplace (used it on the first night and it smoked us out-dont use it!) and sauna which was great and very easy to use. The cabin suppose to be for 4 which would be very crowded but for two people it was spacious.
The dinners were ok. 2 main dishes; 1. always some fish, 2. a meat in breadcrumbs.
I enjoyed continental breakfast-yogurt, musli, wafles. They do English breakfast but hmmmm I am not sure.
Great resort for beginners(my husband loved the blue runs) to intermediate, non skiers and cross-country skiers. Equipment is in good condition.
Only one day was sunny but it was very warm even for March - 0 degrees.
We did super Husky ride which supposed to be 10km - more like 5km. Same for super reindeer safari. Really good fun as you do get to ride the husky sledge yourself. We also did Ice fishing snowmobile safari (93 euros) what a experience! Ice hotel is a must (75 euros). All excursions are expensive so start saving now.
Inghams reps were great, flight on time,
accommodation magical so we had a great time!
