Studio Castille is located in the Citadel at Calvi (basically in the old, fortified part of the town). Located on a rocky outcrop the Citadel commands superb views over the Bay of Calvi. Due to it being high up properties in the Citadel would not be suitable for those with mobility problems unless a vehicle was to hand.

The Studio itself is on the first floor with a quite steep staircase giving access. Do not be put off by the plain door and flaking paint of the access area - the Studio itself has been nicely 'modernised' by its owner. Its a single room (separate toilet and shower) with a settee, double bed, kitchen area. French doors (2) open onto a balcony (table and 2 upright chairs) with the previously mentioned superb views of the bay. There is some traffic noise (a narrow road curves around to the higher parts of the Citadel) but quite bearable. Water craft of all types are regularly sailing past in/out of the harbour and the local French Foreign Legion troops can also be watched leaping from a transport plane and parachuting onto their training ground across the bay.

The owner provides a couple of guides to Corsica, a few books, a good selection of CD's and a radio/CD player. Decor is good and new and also provided is a washing machine and a number of useful items e.g. parasols, sports gear, cards etc.

Its a 10 minute walk down to the town though the most direct route back involves over 150 steps!

Eating out is more expensive than say Greece with a 3 course set menu costing about 19 euros per person with wine being another 12 euros minimum. We tended to spend about 60 - 80 euros a night a la carte.

We had good meals in the Candella restuarant (Citadel), the Cannellu (?the Green one) in town as well as the Santa Maria - also in town.

Beach sandy, shallow and fairly quiet when we were there - apparently gets very busy in July/Aug.

Would recommend the studio and the resort for those who want a quiet relaxing holiday away from the English pub type venues. Some French is helpful as English is not as popular as in some other countries.
