well were just back and had an amazing time. here's the rundown on what we cant stop talking about.
1. CROCODILES:
at bakau, in absolute awe at the creatures never in a million years did i expect to get so close never mind shake hands/paws with one!
2. MONKEYS:
at bijilo, cute and cuddly and eating out of your hand what else can i say.
3. STEVE and LINDA:
an amazing couple from Newcastle...it was a pleasure., our holiday would not have been the same.
4. THE WEATHER:
over 90F every day...speaks for itself
5. VULTURES:
@ the sennegambia hotel 11:30 every morning getting fed, a sight to be seen.
6. FOOD and DRINK:
wonderful no complaints whatsoever, african queen and ali babas in kololi are outstanding for fish lovers try butterfish Mmmmmmmmmm julbrew beer is also fantastic
7. CRUISING THE MANGROOVES:
a must for sun lovers and bird watchers, im not a bird lover but i cant knock the beauty of some of the birds.
8. GAMBIAN PEOPLE:
wonderful smiley people
9. BUMSTERS:
if your the type of person who gets intimidated easily then go to spain. otherwise talk bollocks to them they think your mad and they'll leave you alone. a firm no does'nt always work! i will say that its not as intense as Goa
10. BANJUL AIRPORT:
15 mins and we were in the departure lounge that must be some sort of record!
The Paradise suites/hotel is about a 10 min walk to the resort centre. The staff were very pleasant and helpful, although they are still learning of what us brits expect from a hotel on holiday. Like most developing countries you must expect the usual power cut and running out of water. We never ate in the hotel as we always find that there are more expensive and not always ther best, we did however manage breakfast and we have no complaints there. i would stay at this hotel again but perhaps opt for the suites, as they had a separate living room with adjoining kitchen and decent sized bedroom and toilet. Once again we would like to mention and say thanks to Steve and Lindy for making our holiday that little bit more. special. Paul and Leanne

this was our first time to the gambia and certainly wont be the last !!!
we travelled on a thomas cook flight which was far to cramped, minimum leg room which given steve is a big fella he found it very uncomfortable for the 6 hour flight.on landing the time from getting through customs to getting on the coach took about 45mts,the heat was unbeleivable but great !!! we paid a porter a couple of pound to take our cases on to the coach, then another guy a pound to put the cases on to the coach!!once we got going it took about 30mts to reach the paradise suites, first impresions were great, once inside our room(we paid extra for the suites)we thought we had made the right choice, the kitchen was adequate,a fridge was supplied,we had air con in the lounge and also in our bedroom which had in it a kingsize bed.the bathroom left a lot to be desired but it done the job!!!
the room service was brilliant, fresh towels every day and fresh sheets every second day,our cleaner was called gibba(a lovely guy)there was nothing that we could fault whatsover with the excellent service that we received every day.the bumpsters certainly never once put us off from going out every night and day.a friendly hiya to them was suffecient.parked outside the hotel was a great taxi lad called elephant, who took us out on a few trips saving a lot of money from going to thomas cook!!the only trip we did with cook was the lazy days, very nice but not worth the price £32 each.
the strip for meals was decent value for money, our fav places were ali babas, the jade, chosaan,a taste of india(dont recomend the icecream for dessert it tasted of mothballs!!!)gts bar, the worst service and meal was at african queen, slow service, asked 3 times for a drink never got them yet!!frozen oven chips YUK, enough said!!!the hotel offers free transport to there beach restaurant at paradise beach, the choice and price is better and cheaper then the hotel. there are women on the beach who did wonderful massages for £8 the girl in question was called pauline who was fantastic.we both took malarone tablets and did have dodgy tums for a day or to,cant be sure if it was the tablets or what, but it didnt spoil a wonderful holiday.we met some lovely gambian people, and will defenitly go back one day,but hopefully next time thomas cook will take out a few seats to make it more comfortable, and have enough tea and sugar on outbound flight from gambia,as ours didnt!!!and paying £6 for 4 bottles of water was a rip off!!
hope who ever stays at the paradise suites hotel has a brilliant holiday and im sure you wont be dissapointed, every member of staff is great and work like trojans, the pool lads are a good laugh and will keep you entertained with all sorts of games,if youve got the enery!!!
