The first time we arrived at the santiago we all thought what have we come to. We were in a party of 12 and we all thought the same thing, having young teenagers with us they were very dissapointed. But within one or maybe two hours we all had forgotten everything. The hotel staff cannot do enough for you, make you feel important. make you feel like one of the family. The food is fantastic. even though I dont eat indian food I can only stomach a korma, there is a lot more to choose from. We enjoyed it that much as soon as we came home we booked to go back for a month, We Have been for the month and had another memorable holiday. This time 22 of us went and everyone enjoyed themselves. We have also booked to go back fo a month once again.

Baga beach is a magnet to beggers and traders which can be very annoying, especially the little children that beg. Older children with play a small drum the younger dance and then expect you to give them money.A lot of people would encourage this by clapping and giving them money, then a few minutes later there would be back wanting more money. In two weeks I went there once. lots of lovely unspolit beaches near by. Baga beach is full of beach shacks which service food and drink all day. Sun beds are free if you stay at one shack all day. One place wanted to charge 300 rupees an hour for a sunbed. Shop about for massages,or goods that you may buy can be got for half the price elsewhere. Worth a visit just to experience the hassle.

Riverside regency is very clean, but basic. The staff are friendly and very helpful. Food is of a good standard. My husband and I eat there every day, for two weeks ,no upset stomachs or diahorrea. There use botle water to cook with and prepare salads. The swimming pool is clean but small, but on a hot day who cares. The taxi's outside are licenced which is good, very reasonable charges. The gardens are well kept.excellent wildlife that visit the garden are fruit bats, monkeys mongoose, snakes. on the other side of the river sea eagles are nesting, red kites can be seen. We will return.

lots places to eat, even found english pies, you will be glad of this after first week, trust me! steak and kidney pie at ruffles lush. We ate loads different places liked ffloyds lots choice and the fish was lovely here. plus ma thai, down road before ruffles excellent food and evening entertainment,( this restaurant is loosely linked to the people at club 21 shack.)must go is east meets west in baga went by tut tut 150 rps each way, abt 15mins taxi ride, looks stunning and food very good. The beach was vast , the ship is still in situ and expected to be for sometime, no big deal we found it added something to the shoreline and no eyesore as has been stated altho the locals dont like it.The sand is golden and gets very hot underfoot, sea has under current so take care. but there is breeze.lots traders on beach but jus say no and be firm if you not interested. spent time at club21 shack they were very friendly and looked after us during our stay even has own toilet out back .walked to calangute along beach ittook abt hr,look for set steps that go up into resort where we got tut tut bk for 150 rps , much better way to travel than taxi and cheaper.Dont wear white or light coloured trousers as feet get covered in dust, dont think feet been cleaned so much ;-0 along main strip road.my pay as u go mobile didnt work but used elephant shops to ring home was cheaper than mobiles anyway. sterling , euro or dollars can be changed here also, cant take money in or out country try swap back before you get to airport where rate is lower plus sterling etc accepted for dutyfree,do beach bbq trip with thomson excellent trip and use johns boats for dif trips as cheaper than reps.If your first time, jus go with open mind but be prepared to haggle , offer under half what they ask for to start with!! we had very good hols and will go back oneday and would stay in this hotel again.enjoy!

Would definately stay here again. We didn't experience any problems whatsoever. Travelling with First Choice was a joy. Been to Goa 3 times and it just gets better and better. Fantastic people, fantastic food and fantastic weather

What a fantastic place this is, been going now for a number of years, as the years go by it is getting more & more commercialised but it does not seem to change the overall appeal of this magical place. Go to Claudina's shack on the beach and Anthony, Tina and all the guys there will look after you so well, I have always been worried about eating from the shacks but Anthony took me to "Inspect" his kitchen and it is spotless. Martin on the beach will fetch and carry drinks for you all day and Romeo behind the bar is great fun too. You are spoilt for choice with where to eat and you can eat every nationality food you can think of. Its not spain or greece, but it is a place where you can never get bored of. It truly is a place to relax and forget about everything at home, be pampered and looked after like never before.

If there was a section for very poor in each of these areas it would have met that standard! It was shocking, I have been to Goa on many occasions and this was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. I know what to expect in Goa but this really does take the biscuit. Stained sheets, stained towels, bathroom was stinking and we overlooked a rubbish dump. We stayed one night then found alternative accomodation at a guest house near the beach which was wonderful. If you are offered the Summersville in Candolim, run a mile, its the kind of place that gives candolim a really bad name.
after you get used to the very poor quality of the roads and the non existant pavements the beach at baga is stunning .

the bar staff and waiters were so friendly and helpful it helped to take your mind off the poor quality of the food and the drab condition of the rooms, the whole place badly needs updating.

We would not recomend staying in this hotel as it is very noise with music and shouting going on until early hours of the morning, this included the staff aswell as guests. We had to change rooms 3 time due to a dirty room, noise, electric sockets and air condition not working. Apparently this is not unusual for this hotel. Some of the staff kept short changing us and on the last day the room boy kept asking us a £20 tip.
Have travelled to Goa for 6 years - best place to go - makes Spain seem really tame. The Goans are friendly people - if you want to do the Golden Triangle book it whilst here - much cheaper way to do it! Make a point of going to see Bob at Bobs Inn

Stayed here twice now. Feb 2008 last - excellent in every respect. Nothing is too much trouble - rooms cleaned daily and bedding changed regularly. Highly recommended

the standards of food hygene give cause for concern.food is poor and the restaurant is in what was a tennis court cage. bar prices are high.the rooms are in need of refurbishment. it gets worse every time we go,this year its time for a change
