our holiday was brilliant!! Goa is amazing and people that say its not i really dont know whats going on in their heads!!! at the beira mar the rooms are basic but all you need a toilet/show/sink.....a bed which are not uncomfortable they are just right!wardrobes mirror/dressing table....and balcony the room i had was on the 3rd floor and our room was good! people who moan about the hotel probably expect 4star! well this is a 2star hotel and is in india so what do people expect!you get what you pay for...the staff are great, cant do enough for you!....the food is lovley..breakfast is nice...toast with butter or jam/marmalade that is free and you get an orange juice with it as well or instead you could pay for any other breakfast on the menu and is very very nice especially the eggs the are orangic too! the pools in the hotels are good too perfect views from the 1st pool nearest the bar! the only bad thing is that the bar closes at exactly 11pm and its not good for people who like a drink!! A great shack on the beach just down the road from the hotel is "skylark" the staff are great most people who go there are from coventry but were not...we met some great people there and will be going back next year also the food is brilliant very very tasty and there are many many soft drinks to choose from my favorite is the banana lassi and the rasberry splash all made from scrath!!! overall goa is a fantastic place and this year we are going for 4weeks and will be going again next year most probably and every year after that! dont listen to all the bad reviews them people are just snobs that dont realise that india is a 3rd world counrty and there is alot of poverty!

This was the sixth and last time to baga. the thing we always feared seems to have happened to goa. it has become so busy both with europeans and indian holidaymakers that the quaint charm and the standards have nosedived. the only good restaurant we could ...

Beira Mar Hotel was the worst 2 star hotel I have ever stayed in. First day we got there, we had to ask for clean sheets and get the bathroom re-cleaned. No towels provided until we demanded it. Continental breakfast was just toast (no butter) and tea, was all they offered.

Hotel rooms were dark and bleak, the one we had, was noisey. Washing machine above didn't stop until 3am in the morning.

When complained to receptionist about the breakfast, they said it was 'complimentary'!! Afterall, we did pay for a BandB.

I had my bag stolen and the hotel staff was most unhelpful. When asked where the nearest police station, they said they didn't know.

The hotel electricity cut out often, concrete breeze-block steps and hallways were so dark, we couldn't see our way out.

Haggle HARD with the taxi drivers at entrance of hotel, or avoid them all together and walk a few meters away and hire a two-seater rick-shaw.

Good things about the hotel, was its location. 5 minz from beach, great selection of bars and restuarants.

I would come back to Goa, but not Beira Mar hotel. Nor would I used SpiceWorld SpiceRoute tour operators. Useless and their knowledge was cr*p. Take a guidebook with you.

We booked the holiday from the internet and upon reading the reviews were a bit apprehensive as to what we would find when we got to Goa, however we were pleasantly surprised. The accomodation, although basis was fantastic, and the staff couldnt do enough for you. We had been told that a 2 star would be below average but the rooms were clean, spacious and if, like us all your looking for is a bed for the night then this hotel is more than you need. The location was also fantastic, central to the beach, various bars and restaurants!

The food in Goa is amazing, East meets West and Equinox are restaurants I would definately recommend. At the beach a visit to the Marine Shack is a must, where Frankie always greets you with a smile.
For those who like the night life, club canbanas in the mountains is a must (wednesday and saturday free entry and drinks for ladies!)

We have only been home for one week and are already planning to go back next Feb, if you only go to one place next year make it Goa, i wouldnt go any where elso now!!!

I'd read all the reviews of this hotel before we went and was fairly apprehensive as to what the accommodation would be like - I was pleasantly surprised.

The first room we were given was adequate but I asked to move as I wanted views over the fields so we could watch birds, rather than other buildings, from the balcony .

After several visits to reception to moan about our room we were moved to an apartment ( living room, bathroom, bedroom and 2 balconies ) on the 2nd floor with fantastic views for birdwatching.

The entire hotel is a bit shabby and could do with a revamp and the sunloungers replacing , however we didn't care as it was an affordable base from which we could do our own thing.

Food , clothes , bags , shoes trinkets and taxis were all incredibly cheap and there are plenty of stalls and eateries to choose from in Baga.

It was quiet in March and distinctly lacking in children , which is great if you want a peaceful holiday , but not so good if you have a young child who needs some peer group interaction.

The beach was fab but we didn't spend much time there as we were too busy birdwatching , dolphin spotting , haggleing at stalls and markets and fishing.

We did the Jungle Book Excursion which was fantastic and great value for money however, if you don't like Goan food then take your own supplies - I thought the food was great, and plenty of it but my 8 year old son survived the 2 days on crisps , bananas, pepsi and some biscuits which I'd packed 'just in case'.

I'd love to go back to Goa again but would upgrade to a 3 star hotel next time.
Also, once you've travelled all that way and survived the jetlag, why not book for an extra week - two weeks just wasn't long enough!
