lots places to eat, even found english pies, you will be glad of this after first week, trust me! steak and kidney pie at ruffles lush. We ate loads different places liked ffloyds lots choice and the fish was lovely here. plus ma thai, down road before ruffles excellent food and evening entertainment,( this restaurant is loosely linked to the people at club 21 shack.)must go is east meets west in baga went by tut tut 150 rps each way, abt 15mins taxi ride, looks stunning and food very good. The beach was vast , the ship is still in situ and expected to be for sometime, no big deal we found it added something to the shoreline and no eyesore as has been stated altho the locals dont like it.The sand is golden and gets very hot underfoot, sea has under current so take care. but there is breeze.lots traders on beach but jus say no and be firm if you not interested. spent time at club21 shack they were very friendly and looked after us during our stay even has own toilet out back .walked to calangute along beach ittook abt hr,look for set steps that go up into resort where we got tut tut bk for 150 rps , much better way to travel than taxi and cheaper.Dont wear white or light coloured trousers as feet get covered in dust, dont think feet been cleaned so much ;-0 along main strip road.my pay as u go mobile didnt work but used elephant shops to ring home was cheaper than mobiles anyway. sterling , euro or dollars can be changed here also, cant take money in or out country try swap back before you get to airport where rate is lower plus sterling etc accepted for dutyfree,do beach bbq trip with thomson excellent trip and use johns boats for dif trips as cheaper than reps.If your first time, jus go with open mind but be prepared to haggle , offer under half what they ask for to start with!! we had very good hols and will go back oneday and would stay in this hotel again.enjoy!

Very limited facilities, menu, room quality is crap for a supposedly 4**** hotel. Management and staff seem to be operating different policies when it comes to how to treat locals/foreign guests.
Beach is polluted by crude oil off the shipwreck which...

We literally had a bad experience with this Hotel during our stay in May'08. Hygienically, it was not good and the staff attitude was pathetic. The staff were very unfriendly and do not even respond. It took over an hour for some one even to give a bath soa...

did waterfalls trip, beware, they charge you for the trip and then the guide and driver tell you they don't get paid. they rely on your tips, so could you give them 500 rupees each. may be true, but travel with Johns Boat trips if you want to know exactly what you're gonna pay.
overall a great holiday, very disappointed with the Rubbish in goa - a paradise holiday it is not. but people lovely and there is beauty to be seen through the rubbish. Police cutting down shacks while we were there, people say it was because of the young girls death, but apparently they do it every year at this time, due to less tourism and so less back-handers to the police. Very intimidating to have a group of 40 police descend on you on your sunbed armed with machetes, long knifes and axes.
Not the best way to promote tourism. Also weather extremely hot and humid, unable to prevent getting sunburned unless you stayed in the hotel! factor 50 didn't work. would go earlier next time, as ended up with heat exhaustion.

The people of Goa are as everyone says so friendly. Take sensible footwear as there are no pavements and the roads are not always good. Never pay more than you think something is worth to you as you'll be disappointed when you see it cheaper later! Ingo's market worth a visit and good prices compared to local sellers.
Stock up on your medication whilst youre there its just so much cheaper than home, you name it and they've got it. Toyed with bringing back some Amoxycillin antibiotics just in case needed but then thought no we never get ill. Hubby got ill and needed within a week of us being back. Your malaria tablets out there are cheap too as well as viagra for anyone who needs it! Have a great holiday.
