"Charietta Apartments"
Overall Hotel Rating:
I was concerned by earlier reviews of these apartments but found them to be OK - they are basic and require some updating but ours was fine for our needs. We had a 2 bedroom apartment for 5 which also had 2 bathrooms, 2 balconies & a view of the pool. Both bedrooms had ceiling fans which did cool the rooms a little. There were plenty of cups plates etc which all seemed quite new aswell as a kettle and toaster. Towels and sheets were changed fairly regularly. I think the fact that the furnishings are a bit old and shabby made them seem a bit scruffy but overall we enjoyed our stay there. The pool is lovely and kept very clean - plenty of loungers & pleasant surroundings. Snack bar serves the usual toasties chips etc. The owners are pleasant and although they speak very little English (apart from their teenage son Kristos who was great) we managed! The Olympic rep Nicky was very pleasant and helpful - we booked 2 trips through her - Aqualand (which the kids thoroughly enjoyed) and a boat trip to Kassiopi which was great. The apartments are ideally located - only 5 mins from the beach in one direction and 5 mins from the restaurants and supermarket in the other. I was happy enough with the Charietta apartments but we always holiday in Greece and have got used to basic accomodation over the years. I think anyone visiting Greece for the first time would be a bit put off by them. Overall an enjoyable stay at the Charietta and I would certainly consider returning to these apartments in the future.

"Hell on holiday"
Overall Hotel Rating:
Our holiday and honeymoon at the Charieta started badly and ended badly.
This was without a doubt the worst place i have ever paid money to travel to. We were aware that the apartment was basic as we had asked for self catering accommodation. But you expect it to be clean and functional at the very least.
We had taken our two children with us, one aged 7 and one 8 months. When we arrived at the resort we were horrified to see that the place was not clean, it was dirty, disgusting and totally awful.
We had electrical wiring sticking out of the ceiling and the area above the sink in the bathroom. The kitchen area was filthy and obviously hadn't been cleaned for months. The socket on the wall next to the sink was loose and was overloaded with one of those adaptors that were banned in the UK.
The floor area was filthy and full of dust balls and fruit left there from the previous occupants. An area of one of the walls was covered in mould, another was crumbling away on the corner where it looked as if it had been hit with something heavy and not been repaired.
The kettle boiled over and did not switch off, spraying water all over the bedroom unit(this is where the socket was, there were no spare sockets in the kitchen are). Our 7 year old daughter almost scalded herself walking past as the water sprayed out.
The fridge door was rusty and the inside was not clean. The cooker hob was filthy and we certainly didn't want to eat anything in that room.
The shower area was dirty, some of the tiles were cracked and there were pubic hairs in the tray from the previous occupants. We did not use any of the facilities in the room for fear of catching something nasty or injuring oursleves.
We had no help from our reps, we didn;t even have a number for them as they dropped us off and left very sharply(obvisouly knowing what state the room was in already). We had the emergency number for the corfu office and rang it 4 times within a 7 hour period. No help arrived and we were left there to fend for ourselves with a dirty, disgusting room to sleep in.
Needless to say we didn't stay there. We phoned a friend in the UK to book us flights out of there and we arrived back in the UK the day after we arrived in Corfu. We would have been open to be moved to another apartment if the reps had been bothered to help us, but instead they were determined to stick to their schedule.

"Impressed"
Overall Hotel Rating:
Myself and my partner booked a holiday in Charrieta through Olympic this year, and spent a week there in July. The apartments are basic, but comfortable and very clean, and are cleaned every day by staff. For the rating it has been given, Charrieta exceeded my expectations, and made a very pleasant place to stay. The pool and poolside bar is excellent. I would return here without any hesitation.
The surrounding area is also very good, with lovely restraunts and bars within easy walking distance. It's not a place to stay if you are after clubbing, but a quieter area. I would particularly recommend Alex's - a family owned business with good quality food at excellent prices, and incredibly welcoming staff. However, right next to Charrieta is a cocktail bar named Tartaya. The place itself is gorgeous, but the staff are rude, arrogant and ignorant, and the drinks are hideously overpriced. Stick to the many other bars available. Great Shakes, a British pub aong the road a bit offers a great quiz if you are looking for an evening out.

"Charieta = good Tartaya= bad"
Overall Hotel Rating:
The apartments are basic and if you are going to spend most of your day by the pool/ beach then they are recommended. The family are lovely and although they dont speak that much English manage to pretty much cater to your every need. So friendly!!! Although bottles of water by the poolside are way overpriced! The beach is very very close and so are all the shops and restaurants of Dassia. I met a couple in the apartments and we went for drinks at the nearby Tartaya bar. It looks fairly impressive, but the drinks are terrible and very overpriced. This I can deal with on holiday, but the staff were extremely rude to my friend. her crime? Asking for a drink that was on the menu, that they weren't able to make that night...ridiculous - all they needed was to say politely that they couldnt do it tonight and she would have just chosen another. Totally put us off going back there and I recommend that you go in to have a look at the decor, but then go somewhere else pretty sharpish.

"Charieta Studios And Apartments review"
Overall Hotel Rating:
Accommodation - location good - unless in studios which face noisy main road - apartments all face the pool but do experience noise all day from the pool / bar area. the apartments appear to be popular with families even in september so not the place for a quiet break. Apartments are dated and require upgrading and modernisation. On arrival we found the apartment to be poorly cleaned - the bedrooms were musty and smelly and the kitchen was covered in chip fat grease which stank the whole apartment out. We had to clean the cooker - not that I had any intention of using it! - as well as all kithen surfaces and crockery which was layered with grease from previous occupants.
The bathroom was cramped and had not been cleaned from previous occupants - toilet and floor were filthy. the whole apartment was dusty and was never cleaned properly in the two weeks we were there. The maid service was only to empty bins and leave fresh towels / bed linen which doesn't fit the bed! Most of the sunloungers round the pool were broken and/or dirty - they were never cleaned at night and no effort made to replace any broken ones. we found we had to go out to the Malibu pool bar on the beach every day which cost 6 euro for two beds and brolly to enjoy a peaceful and comfotable sunbathe. As these apartments only open between july and september we got the impression it must have been a long season as the owner and his family did not really endeavour to make us feel welcome. they seem to go through the motions each day, sometimes not even bothering to open the bar. the only food which seemed to be provided was chips, again with smelly, dirty fat!
Resort - dassia has several large hotels which are all half board or all inclusive and tend to be popular with our european cousins who like nothing better than to indulge in an after meal game of hogging the narrow pavements and not moving when they see anyone english - this beats putting their towels on the sunbeds at six every morning! there is only one decent restaurant in the resort which you cannot get into as it is so popular, the rest are glorified cafes / bars. The best place we found to eat was a small grill room at the Ipsos end of dassia, opposite tartaya / garden bar. it doesn't have an English name but go in and ask for Leomidas the owner and tell him Ian and Sharon from Newcastle United sent you! Prices very cheap and food cooked to order whilst you drink his homemade red wine. the best bar we found was the desert rose next door to the italian restaurant (don't go in there!). Alex who runs the bar speaks great english and has great taste in music! He also serves the best lager in dassia and fab cocktails!
Corfu town is lovely only 1 euro on the local bus which runs fairly frequently. Ipsos is the other way by bus - great if you want bars and burgers - no restaurants at all just fast food joints. Hire a car and go up into the hills for some lovely bars and restaurants which tend to be a lot cheaper and serve fantastic food. Kato Korakiana is a nice village between dassia and ipsos - one bar was serving a glass of local wine and a pint of lager for 3 euros! Great value and a good night out. You can walk it in an about 15 mins - uphill going and very dark coming back.
Overall probably the worst resort we've been to and had we not enjoyed the company of new friends it would have been a disaster! we have used olypmic in the past and have not been put off by this holiday - we understand this is not one of their better standards of accommodation.

"Charieta Studios And Apartments review"
Overall Hotel Rating:
We arrived after flying through the night and was slightly worried when the rep couldn't find out apartment, when we finally got to the apartment it was out of this world. We stayed at the Charieta Studios and Apartments Charieta Apartments just off of the main road and very quiet at night.
The rooms are enormous, especially for just to the two us in an apartment that sleeps 6 people (we did not book this or ask for this they just put is in here). The family that run the apartments are really lovely and very very helpful.
Great shakes is a must, we made it our local. The chinese is very good.
For a cheap big greek meal the place to go is right opposite the charieta apartments on the main road. Alex's is superb for breakfast.I would recommend the Charieta apartments and we are actually returning again this year, this time with the parents
