"Could be better"

None of the party of eight we were in would go back, we have been spoilt by better places on the Greek isles, which are comparable to what we paid for the Seascape.

OverallAverage Hotel

Apart from the hordes of Italians it wasn't a bad place to stay. The apartments are right on the beach. Michael and his family are excellent hosts, but it seems they are being taken for a ride by Olympic.

Ipsos is a resort that seems to be run down and in need of a revamp. If you stay here visit nearby Dassia or Gouves much more chic and up market. There are one or two decent eating places but one of the best is Odessey just at the bottom of the hill from the Yiannis hotel. The hideaway pub halfway down the hill from the Yiannis is a good place to stop at on the way back at night the ower and his wife are really nice people and it is the cheapest bar in Europe or so he claims. If you want to splash some cash on a great meal out get a taxi to Corfu town and ask the driver to take you to the bourgonvilla restaurant, they really know their cooking and how to turn on the style. For 4 people with starters and main course including wine and apertifs the bill came to about one hundred pounds which is not bad when you see the type of place it is. This place was recommended to us by the taxi driver after we found out that Rouvas taverna (Where Rick Stein visited) was only open during the day. Back to Ipos, the best bar for music and comfort is the Yew Tree Inn. Forget Dirty Nellies its a big con just to get you in and spend money. There are a couple of other bars along the front but watch out when you go to tiffany's bar. If the owner's wife serves you it will be ok, but if the owner serves you and you ask for a bottle of Heineken he will bring you that crappy draught Amstel and charge you for Heineken. Good food to be had at the Mythos Taverna in Dassia and the portions are huge and very reasonably priced.

My partner and I just returned from a weeks holiday in Ipsos. We drove the whole island and If we were to go back, Sidari would be all round best choice I reckon. Good family resort and singles and young couples, its 30kms from corfu town which is further than Ipsos.

We drove 700kms in a week most of corfu beaches are shingle, Ipsos and most of Dassia is shingle. Sidari has good busy nightlife, long sandy beach..chill out bars that flow onto the sand wich are open til early hours. Ipsos and dassia may in july and august get really busy, but for us (young 30's) was just too boring. For us its great to be in really busy city..or in remoteness...this place didn't really have an identity, sort of place you might and stop at for an hour or so on your way to somewhere esle. We ended up either in corfu town at night or driving to sidari.
