Sissi is a quiet resort that is very good if you want a peaceful and relaxing holiday. There are no sand beaches at Sissi but there is a bus service to a nearby beach if required. I did not personally 'eat out' in the resort due to staying on an all inclusive basis but there were restaraunts within a short walking distance of the hotel.

Sissi is really quiet but we didn't mind, just had a really relaxing time :-) There are a couple of restaurants that are good but we mainly ate at the hotel.

Aghia Marina review
"Finest place to be on holiday"
resort to a friend
Very good place to be in holidays for everyone if you come for the sun and swimming in the warm sea. We stay long days in the beach and loved it. For a person like me that not swim so well it was very good that the sea is not very deep. You can walk about 40-50 meters out and the water is not going over your head. Some days it was hevy wawes and then you cant swim, but it was not often.

Gouves review
"one of the best places to stay if dont l"
resort to a friend
At night you can take a nice walk and enjoy the cafes and shops at the square it is more like a cross road of shops everyone is so welcome and you do not get bothered by street sellers
if you go on the little train dont expect much as it take you to old military base which is nothing to see the aquarium is along that side and is ok if you like a big fish tank Be careful with buses and stops but this is a good way to see other towns and this is a good resort to relax and have a quiet base in bus company is www.ktelherlas.gr you can email for details buses are around the hour and half hour
we booked a tour with Rossilena tours which was not a good company as the bus was 25mins late speaking to other passenger they said that this company had a reputation of being last and they did say to wait even if the bus was late the tour was to Knossos & Lassithi Plateau when we got to Knossos we had a guided tour which did not include the price of entry after we got inside the place seemed very fake as everything had been removed and copies had been put in there place and anything they though could be reconstructed was redone with a modern twisted
When we left palace of Knossos we went to meet the but it was not there We were then informed that the coach had gone around 20 mins later another 2 coaches came We asked about things we had left on the bus as we were informed we could do that we were informed they would follow shortly. Some people had left cameras and things and were quiet upset. Then it took 20mins for them to get organised to put us into the coaches. we then went to Diktaion Cave which we had to pay for again but his was amazing a long journey up and very steep but worth it we then left their and stopped at a potters shop this was a ploy to get us to buy things As this was now 4pm in the afternoon and we had been picked up at 8.45am and still not had any lunch. We then were taken to a restaurant in the main town on the Lassithi Plateau. This restaurant only served pork and only had 1 bottle of diet coca cola they were not friendly and we left
The tour guide and bus driver got a good free feed though We then went through the Lassithi Plateau which was supposed to be full of wind mills we only seen one so much for all the pictures of windmills
Then it was a rush to get us home for 5.30pm what a great trip tour and bus company NOT the tout operator or company was www.tourline.gr

Gouves we found to be almost too quiet - this might have been the time of year or the decline of the pound against the euro - either way it seemed like the end of October rather than mid September. Some tavernas were closing early and we didn't find a decent bar. The main strip in Gouves itself was tourist shops and restaurants and quite expensive. We feel that if you are looking for a resort to relax and laze around in the sun, have a good evening meal in pleasant surroundings than Gouves is perfect - if you want a bit more life then you are in the wrong place.

The resort is nice although not much to do. It is fine if you just want to sunbathe on the beach. The beach is lovely although not very clean. The waiters and waitress at the restaurants are all friendly. Our favourite restaurant was the Brittania. Very friendly staff and they do a lovely breakfast which includes free sun loungers for the day. We went on the Happy Train for an hour and half as it was supposed to go to Malia and Hersonissos. We went through Malia but did not go through Hersonissos. Where it took us there were not many sights or any commentary. I would recommend this resort if you are only going for 1 week. Having spoken to people that had had already stayed for a week they were pushed to find different things to do in their second week.

Situated on the south coast of Crete, you come down through the mountains to the very quiet, get away from it all village of Sougia located right on the coast. The beach itself is brilliant with sun loungers and umbrellas at cheap rental costs, right next to the cafes and restaurants on the sea front. Just off to the east end of the beach about 100m from the end of the village, there is a large nudist beach which extends for a further 500m and is very well poulated with nudists. Never tried it before, but we did spend a few days on that beach and also discovered a nudist cafe nearby.

Malia review
"dont go in september go end of Aug"
resort to a friend
First time in Malia and have to say i would go again but not in September. It was getting quiet towards the middle of our holiday. It would be a top place end of Aug when all the young uns go back. Loft is a great place to start- 5 drinks for 5 euros. Food wise can be abit expensive and all the same stuff so would recommend sticky fingers. Best meal we had all week! Silent disco and booze cruise was good altho for 50 euros it was abit steep!
Very good holiday all the same but would go end of aug when its still busy! Enjoy

good.plenty of people to met and can make new friends to meet outside of malia.forgot the reps make your own holiday the way you want.stay safe and watch your drinks and dont except free drinks even from bar staff 1/2 maybe with friends around you but 4/5 use common sense especially if you are a young woman.nothing is free in life especially in Malia.good beaches and watersports so dont sleep in all day otherwise you might as well stay at home.Met the Glasgow two which was a part of my holiday and they retain in my mind unlike some who i had phyical contact with( out of choice)Malia IS NOT just about sleeping with as many as possible you can do that anywhere.its partly about make new and lasting friends with Malia the cornerstone which bring you together.roll on june2010

Stalus is a lovely resort if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. It is situated alongside Malia but is far enough away for you not to endure the hardcore party style of it's party crazy sister. There is a great amount of restaurants which all sell good quality food. There are also lots of lovely cocktail bars for you to enjoy a tipple or two. The beaches are clean and there are many private beaches which all offer their own special ammenities.

We have been to Stalis 3 times, and love it, it is very laid back - there are a mixture of people who would stay in it but it is a lot quiet/sedate than Malia, and being in our 50s now we find it ideal, good restaurants and pubs and plenty of day trips if you want them.

Stalis is a lovely place and very easy to find your way around. There is a main street that runs parallel to the beach which is full of shops, restaurants and bars. We liked to try somewhere different each night and were never disappointed by the choice. The beach is lovely and you can pay for a sunbed and umbrella and get a free lunch on the beach. The sea was warm all the time even when the weather was dull. Hersonnosis and Malia are either side of Stalis and can be walked to if you want to have a look around. We found Stalis to be the best of the 3 towns. There is a great bus service running to Heraklion and other resorts around the island. We also went to the local water park and had a great day. We will be going back in June for 2 weeks and we dont usually return to the same place but we had such a good time there we wanted to go back. There is a great chinese buffet which I would recommend and a restaurant called La Fontana which does great kleftiko. There are numerous places where you can hire a car or quad bike to get around the island for not very much money. Highly recommended for couples and families. This is not a town to go clubbing, but if this is what you want go to Malia next door
