Crete is a beautiful island steeped in sun and history. It is the largest of the Greek islands and as such never seems overcrowded with visitors. The capital is Heraklion (Irakleo) and along with the usual city bustle has plenty of history and sightseeing to offer. If you are a shop-a-holic then your needs can most certainly be met here with many designer shops sitting side by side with bazaars and markets.
Most of the holiday destinations are situated along the North coast but a trip to Crete would not be complete without a visit to the beautiful south coast or take a trip to see the inner Crete with beathtaking views both inland at on the coast.
The towns of Chania, Rethymnon and Hersonissios are also worthy of a visit with Venetian and greek architcture next to wonderful tavernas overlooking scenic harbours and bays.
With very friendly people Crete is a great holiday destination not to be missed.
P.S. Dont tell too many people as i want to keep it to myself.
