Oh dear. Amoudara. Its a scruffy town. Not far from the capital Heraklion but not developed at all. The main road is dangerous with cars and bikes constantly using it as a race track. The beach has the usual selection of bars, some with music blaring out all day, others quiet. We chose the Havana beach bar, nice and quiet with good reasonably priced food. At the end of the beach is a power station which has been painted in bright colours, maybe in a bid to hide it, but there is no mistaking the emissions that are visible all day. Its such a shame as the people that work in the shops/bars/tavernas are the nicest people you could wish to meet. They were genuinely happy to stop and talk and help. Mixed feelings having just come home today, as the people will stay in my memory but sadly not the place.
