having just come back from a fortnight here we were very disappointed food was warm children running about everywhere, not the 5* hotel we thought it was going to be a lot of people were of the same opinion we would only give this hotel a 3 or 4 star rating it was just like a glorified butlins camp not somewhere you want to to relax ad chill out ,also on top the price you paid for this holiday you had the choice of getting the drinks package which on top of that worked out quite expensive sorry but we did not enjoy it .

"excellent wedding day to remember"

Overall Hotel Rating:

We got married at the sensatori on the 12th may 2010, everything from start to finish was amazing, the hotel staff were lovely, the food was amazing, people have mentioned it is same stuff everyday but only if your boring and eat in the main restraunt every night, which was still excellent and plenty of choice, however the thai was fantastic as was the red saffron. The rooms were lovely and very comfy we were in a family room with sea view, beach is just across the road and was very clean and nice sand. The entertainment from the thomson team like the cabaret was tacky but funny however the outside entertainment hired to come to the hotel was fantastic especially faye and chris who were in the reception bar most nights and faye sang our wedding first dance song which was amazing! Adam was also very good on the piano and the comedy show and illusionist were excellent. I would definitely go back to this hotel as could not fault it in anyway, we also had 6 other family members that joined us at a later date and they all thoroughly enjoyed it. Dont be put off by rubbish reviews, in my opinion you would have to be a complete snob to find this hotel anything less that fantastic.

this is not a platignum 5 star holiday I have had better and cheaper. The shower flooded the bathroom every day, and as for the 'Satori' moment I got that when I opened the bathroom door and the stench of sewage hit me.the food was ok but not 5 star, and the amount of pre-school children in the resturants was like Butlins.it advertises an indoor pool which you can use but only at an extra cost of 25euros per person per day[not in the brochure]. My wife and I had to mop up the bathroom everyday as the fault could not be fixed due to the design of the all singing all dancing jacuzzi bath. Never again. S.B.D. Devon

I would not go back if you paid me. Food very poor, eatable but mostly the same and cold. Entertainment attrocious. Not 5 star by any means would have been better at butlins. All they want is your money everything is extra even though we paid 3,500 pounds for a dream holiday. I think trading standards should know that what they show in the brochure is not correct. Disappointed , disgusted and appaled ny dream holiday is was not.Thompsons should be aware.

"fab honeymoon"

we went to sensatori in crete on 6th may 2010 for our honeymoon this hotel was brill lovely people always friendly food was out of this world they cater for everyone. we had a swim up room which the pool was freezing we didnt get much sun in the afternoon so if you love the hot weather this might bother you. we wasnt bothered too much by this. hotel was always cleaned and as we were honeymooners we had rose petals over the bed bottle of champage and a bowl of fruit which we thought was lovely. hotel is across from the beach and was lovely. there wasnt much around other than that but it was a chilled holiday if you are looking for some life to you holiday this is not the place. only downside to our holiday was the entertainment it lasted for bow half hour after that you can all sit around the piano and listen to the host singing which wasnt for us. we cant comment on the kids fun but it did look good. if you looking for a trip and love shopping go on the train outside the hotel to herrsionnis (sorry spelt that wrong) 10 euros each and 2 euros each coming back worth a day out. i would recommened the drinks package its 22 euros each, each day we paid £230 in our money for the week which is worth doing as drinks are dear and if you like a drink you get all drinks included, short, lager, cocktails. we are thinking of going back next year with our little girl and friends. sensatori was a brill holiday. have fun there.

"Lovely Holiday!!!!!!"

Overall Hotel Rating:

Excellent

Open quote

This was a family holiday for myself and my six year old daughter plus grandmother. We had an amazing time at this resort, I spent alot of time reading reviews and trying to work out if it was value for money. I wasn't disappointed, and personally I think when you book a package holiday you have to give and take. The hotel on the face of it was very well kept and we found the staff extremely helpfull and friendly, and you could see they work hard to accomodate everyone. The food was excellent and very varied even for a fussy 6 year old!! If I can think of any tips to give you, it would be make sure you wear footwear around the pool and around the hotel as the floors are very very slippy when wet. Childrens facilities were excellent and the entertainment wonderful and very professional. The thompson trips are very expensive and I would suggest walking down to the seafront and booking the glass bottomed boat, we had an amazing day where we saw octopus, caught fish, and caught some beautiful scenery from the front of the boat travelling at speed. I can say that was one of the most memorable experiences of my life and I wont forget it in a hurry. The rooms were such a suprise, our room was huge, with a massive queen sized bed that was very comfy. We had a private terrace that looked out onto the pool which we were very pleased with as there were private sunbeds and therefore no mad scramble in the morning to reserve a bed.

I loved this holiday so much that we are going back but this time to the new Sensatori in Tenerife and fingers crossed it will be just as good :))

"A superb holiday"

Overall Hotel Rating:

From arrival at Heraklion airport to departure from same, a excellent experience.

Being an out of season break in late September, there were few families. We were upgraded from a swim up room to a family swim up in the family area. Thought this would be a problem, but it wasn't.

The room was superb, with the patio area in the sun for the afternoon. Very few rooms would appear to have sunshine all day and some possibly in the shade mostly. The only downside if you're a sun lover. There was always sunbeds around the pools although the adult areas were generally the busiest.

Other than that, everything was superb, the pools, food, facilities and entertainment. Staff were all very helpful. We especilly appreciated the airport check-in coming to the hotel on the last day; no suitcases to carry and straight through to passport control, very civilised.

We had no trouble booking restuarants, ate in the Red Saffron, Thai, Tex Mex and Stonegrill twice each in our 10 day stay. All very good but especially liked the Stonegrill although you had to pay extra.

Overall an extremely good holiday.

Hotel is quoted as 5 star but I am of the view that you could do much better for value and location. Room was excellent as we booked with £150 upgrade to a suite, not impressed with the swim up rooms as cost of upgrade was not good value for what we could see. Suite of excellent standard, size and cleanliness, however, resort/hotel had numerous issues with power cutting off and coming back on in a second which resulted in various alarms and bleeps disturbing sleep. Food was very good at all restaurants except for the Aroma Stone which you pay extra for, you recieve your food at table and cook it yourself on a hot stone, too much hassle and not enough in a serving. Restaurant booking system is a hassle, when you arrive there is very limited availability for booking for the next four nights but as you get the hang of it availability improves but you are booking four days ahead each time to get the choice. Aroma Stone not good, but Al Dente (pay extra) was excellent. Drinks with meals was good, local beer and wine, never had to wait too long, even when having an additional bottle of wine at end of meal. Would recommend upgrade to all inclusive drinks if you enjoy cocktails and can justify the cost/value. (22 euros per day each, a vodka coke costs 6 euros). This is also a good option whe you consider and check out the location, there is not much else going on in the local area, so best option is stay in hotel at night as the entertainment was good. Lyttos Beach ok for a wander round but not much to see and do, best to consider trip on the happy bus or hire car to get a look at the other locations. Pool was very nice and quiet as it was adults only, plenty other pools for families. Adults only pool very relaxing but if you like putting your towels out early ensure you sit on your reserved loungers until 9am otherwise they are removed. Checking out hotel and luggage transferred from hotel was really good and means no hassle at airport check in.

"Over rated *****"

On arrival we were located to a room at the very far corner of the complex, which turned out to be one of the poorer room of the hotel (Clio block) as was most who arrived on the later flight, the main problems being, outlook onto a local street, the bathroom was so small that both my wife and myself could not be there at the same time,a walk in shower that had been converted into a WC.However after complaint to Kate the thomson's local rep. we were moved to a much superior room with large toilet and lounge at no extra cost,(same price different standard)? all be it the rooms were clean as you would expect in ***** hotel the maid had some trouble in cleaning our balcony, tea cups and replacing the toiletries, I even contaced reception about the balcony and still nothing changed. The food in the hotel was very good, only the bother of booking for the various venues apart from the main restaurant, the amount of children in the main restaurant was unbeleavable and unless you requested to sit at a specific table you were in amongst them not that Iam against children, the staff in all venues were excellent. I think they should adopt the same policy as they do at the pool (adult only area). The hotel its self I think is a bit isolated and you sould be prepared for a very small town with very little in it or to do, the beach is poorand dirty and I think it a bit OTT that the hotel charges 5 euro for the beech beds, the pool sunbeds are free howvere if you can get one you have to be at the pool first thing in the morning if you want one. Overall had a good time but think the hotel was very over rated, over priced and isolated would not go back or recommend to my friends, Have had better for less!

"Triumph of marketing over substance"

Overall Hotel Rating:

Good

Open quote

Marketed as a luxury hotel that emphaises the senses. It certainly does this but not the ones Thomson had in mind. Sense 1: Nowhere in the brochure does it mention that the hotel is under the flight path to Heraklion airport with planes coming over every 10 minutes for most of the day and evening, so low you can make out whose company it belongs too with the accompanying noise.

Sense 2: Screaming tired pre school children. We went just after schools were due to reopen in the UK so most children were pre school. The hotel tried very hard to keep families with children and couples seperate. The bottom two pools were adult only, the top two were kited out for families. Adults could eat in the taverna for breakfast which was for adults only. Unfortunately this is where the seperation ended. Not a problem at lunch but in an evening it was chaos with crying tired pre school age children being wheeled in to the main dining room right up to it closing. In theory children dining time stopped at 8.30pm but this was largely ignored. I know this sound svery child unfriendly, we have brought up four and have grandchildren, it is not the childrens fault, they were hot and tired and should have been in bed. I dread to think what it was like during the school holidays with older children being their.

The hotel is marketed as a luxury resort which it could be but for the not inconsiderable cost I don't want to listen to planes overhead and screaming children in an evening. I could go on but I think you can get the picture.

Enough of the negative. The hotel was lovely, the staff were very friendly. We had a see view suite which was lovely. In addition to the main restaurant There are 5 other restaurants on the site which you can eat in but all require you to make a reservation. You could eat in three of them, the Taverna, a mexican and a Tia at no extra cost . We tried all three and the food was OK. The other two an Al a Carte and the Stone Grill charged an extra fee.

The hotel offers a drinks package which is a must as prices were quite steep.

Would we go back again - No!

Wonderful resort and suitable for couples both young and old, plus families. The choice of food and restaurants - mexican, thai, buffet, grill - was outstanding. Hotel was extremely clean. Very relaxing. The staff were so helpful and right from the airport made you feel special. It was great that me and Mum could sit by a lovely pool and have a relaxing day whilst families enjoy their own pools. I would definitely go back.

"BEST HOLIDAY EVER!"

The Hotel was fanastic. It was actually better than we imagined. Everything was immaculately clean, rooms were superb. Our room was booked as a swimup but we actually had a private pool between 4 rooms with the most amazing view of the sea. We couldn't have asked for anything better. We upgraded to the all inclusive drinks option and felt this worked for us. The kids were kept well entertained. Both my sons went to nearly all the activities run for 811 adventurers. They did Waterwalkerz, snorkelling, rookie lifeguard, sea scooters, raft building just to name a few. They had a whale of a time and were very upset to leave. Thanks to Kristian, Max, Euan, Hannah, Natalie and Carlie who really looked after them. The food was amazing too. We have eaten so much, there is a vast buffet with just too much to choose from so you feel you have a sample a bit of it all, and the desserts were out of this world. We did eat at the Aroma Stone Grill one evening and enjoyed a discounted steak meal, bought out on a sizzling stone and you have to cook it yourself. Worth a visit. As it was my birthday while we were away, I received a lovely bottle of wine and basket of fruit which was waiting in our room on arrival with a discount for the spa. I sampled the famous chocolate massage and was not disappointed. We did make the mistake of going into Hersonnisos one evening by taxi (10euro each way) for a meal out. What a disappointment. I imaged a quaint greek village with restaurants overlooking a spectactular harbour, how wrong was I. A quick meal and straight back to Sensatori for us! We went on the beach a couple of days, you get 2 loungers and a parasol for 5euro a day total. In 2 weeks we only saw the sea as calm as a millpond once. We only managed to get into the sea twice more on our holiday but the waves were a bit unnerving as they came at you in all directions. Look out for the life guards flags telling you if you can swim. We had an amazing holiday and would say it was probably the best family holiday we have had so far and would most definitely go back again.

The hotel was just fabulous, the only thing that let it down were the miserable staff at dinner. Drinks are free but they take ages taking your order. The rooms are very spacious with jet showers and spa bath. The beds are very large and soooo comfy. We travelled with two teenagers and our 10 yr old son. We booked the reebok football for Sam, which he loved, pay when you arrive its £10 cheaper.Thefood is so good, we all put on weight but it was worth it. The entertainment is brilliant especially the Abba and Queen night. The beach is really sandy and very clean with jet ski and diving available. This was a really fab holiday and has something for all ages

Room allocation is a lottery. Please see my photos taken from my room. This was booked as a double swim up room. It was opposite a supermarket and sports bar, the room was more like a single room being used a sa double and the toilet was in what was supposed to be the walk in shower. The shower was over the bath and the water was all over the floor. I viewed several other rooms whilst there and the rooms in this part of the complex are all very different and sub standard to most of the others.

The management are well accustomed to complaints about these rooms and insist that they are double rooms but cannot offer any explanation as to why they are smaller than most other double rooms or why there is no walk in shower or why the toilet is where the shower was supposed to be. The manager suggested that I should have requested a room that did not overlook the supermarket when I booked.

The food is definitely not five star and the tables are never cleaned between courses. The room was not cleaned everyday and on some days it was as late as 1700hrs.
