The resort of Adelianos Kampos was great except the beach, which was a mixture of sand, pebbles, and shingle. As you enter the water beware of huge rocks, you will need to wear beach shoes!! The town itself was great, with a wide selection of shops, tavernas and restaurants. Even the supermarkets were wonderful and everyone you meet is so friendly. If the beach was better this would be almost unbeatable.

great going around all the little streets with lovely shops and eating places, don't do the harbour for food, the locals don't!

The old town is just fantastic we was really surprised, no tack no brit adverts for roast dinners etc.Great resturants and good value.Crete and Rethymnon are a must please go.We will be back.

Rethymnon is very nice, but maybe a little too quiet for my liking. You can get some British grub though, which is always welcome. Lovely beach and sea.

Downtown Rethymon is more like a series of little backstreets all interwoven between the buildings. Plenty of little shops for the keen shopper. But at night, the place buzzes with numerous restaurants and bars all sprawling out onto the pavements, particularly along the sea front and harbour area. It seems that the main thing to do is to just sit in one of these restaurants/bars in an evening and just watch the world go by.

The beaches are very good and stretch along the east side of the town, where numerous hotels seem to have staked their claim over their sea front with colour coded umbrellas. Towards the water's edge, the beach does get stony, which then goes into the water. The north side of Crete (where Rethymon) is also located, also does seem to have the brunt of the weather and rougher beaches. Whilst Rethymon beaches are good and acceptable, ideally, the best beaches on Crete tend to be along the south coast of Crete.

It's not near anything lively, so quiet, safe no sign of anything to be a concern. there are fields of melons etc growing around the resort. beach nice and clean with a life guard from the hotel, the sea is crystal clear and very warm, 10/10

Plenty to do and see, lovely and romantic place. One imporant tip, negotiate on prices and when you are eating out in Rethymno always calculate your final bill before you pay, as its written in Greek and couple of times we nealy got overcharged "by mistake".

A lovely resort with lots of friendly locals always willing to give you help and advice needed. One night me the wife and the kids got lost on the way back to the bus drop off point, however with the help of a lovely greek woman we were soon back on track. Good grub also available, with both English or Greek owners at the resteraunts.

There is a small and very quiet beach is just down the road from the apartments. Beside the beach is a bar and restaurant which was pleasant to sit and enjoy a snack. meal or just a drink or two.

The village of Girani is up above the apartments and is about a ten minute walk all uo hill on the way there but of course an easy downhill walk after you have shopped, eaten or had a few drinks.

The village is small with a tiny shop which sold water, tinned food, beer, and some fresh stuff and was certainly more useful that the supermarket next to the apartments. There was a small bakery which sold fresh bread and pastries.

Apart from this there were a number of bars and restaurants which were very good value.

If you want anything more then you can take a bus into Rethymnon which is about 15 minutes away and there you can find anything you could want.

The marina in the resort is really nice, there are some nice bars around there. There are also quite a few nice shops. Beach is superb, really beautiful.

Crete is one of the most stunning of the Greek Islands - well worth a visit. If you can, go 'off' peak - April/May as it gets very hot and humid in the summer months. Sadly the exchange rate isn't great at the moment (2009) which makes it a bit more expensive.

Rather touristy in July / August, but decent beach. Pleanty of restaurants. Prices generally seemed somewhat high, but probably affected by poor exchange rate thanks to collapse of pound.

Beautiful coastline, fanastic beaches - car recommended if you want to sightsee but the hotel offers everything you need especially if all inclusive.

Used the public transport twice and found this to be very good. Resort quite large with lots of bars, restaurants and lots of shopping if required.

Rethymnon is okay but fairly typical of many greek towns. There is a market once a week, you could probably explore the town and market in a 1 day visit. Crete is a great and varied island though so it's definitely worth making the effort to get out and about to see different places and sights.
