"Excellent!!"
Overall Hotel Rating:
3 mature couples, 3 rooms. I was lucky and had room 105 overlooking the beach. This was also large for a studio. Our friends had what I would call a normal studio. Room for the beds and not much else. However, the rooms were very clean with double glazing, although noise was never a problem. Poppy the maid cleaned the rooms every day except Sunday and was very friendly. Rula the owner was friendly and Gaynor who looked after the bar and snacks was excellent company and nothing was too much trouble. Gaynor is Welsh buts lives in Stalis. The location is excellent. Literally on the beach and just off the main street but as mentioned no noise problems. Highly recommended apartments and Stalis is also great. Plenty to do but not too busy.

"BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!"
Overall Hotel Rating:
July 2009 Stayed in Stalis numerous times in the past and these were by far the best. Hotel owner Rula is very helpful and it was a pleasure to greet Poppy the cleaner each morning and have a coffee. Gaynor, behind the bar who also cooks, can not do enough for you and is also an excellent cook. Most food there being grown at Rulas gardens or homemade(burgers). The location is excellent with the beach of Stalis just a step off the pool area.It is also situated right in the centre of the resort. The pool and gardens are kept very clean and tidy by Alex. All in all a very enjoyable holiday and have already booked to go back in August 2010. John,Yvonne and Emily Paul,Carolyn and Nathan

"Good location shame about owner"
Overall Hotel Rating:
Great Location The owner was a nightmare if you had a problem. Very short tempered, had a problem with the bathroom fittings, she went over the top ranting and raving instead of adressing the problem!! No facility on site after 8.00pm.We had a power outage one night and had to search for trip switch to reset. No one about for help! Shame because Stalis is great plenty to do. Returning to stalis but not Soleil to Miserable.Cleaner overworked lovely lady.

"best apartments in the world!!!!!!!"
Overall Hotel Rating:
We can't say enough good thngs about the soliel. We have been there twice and will be going back a third time too. All the staff are brilliant, Roula. Poppy and Gaynor go above and beyond and their food is delicious especially the home made burgers, and the apple cake. This year we took friends with us and after two days they asked to come back with us next year. The atmosphere is unbeatable, a home away from home and you could not ask for a better location. We were engaged on the beach front outside the Soleil and the owner helped set up a table with candles and champagne and flowers to make it a wonderful suprise. there were even more flowers in our room, some picked from her own garden. Also if you do go to the soleil you must visit the Akti bar, owned by the same people and with the same friendly atmosphere. I could go on and on, but all i have left to say is that we have had our best holidays at the soleil and so will you.

"Not happy"
Overall Hotel Rating:
The hotel was excellent but the proprietor was very 'stuffy', if your face did not fit then she was very miserable. (No sense of humour!!!) If you had a problem, she did not want to know. We found her very rude. On leaving we knew we had to vacate the room but because of her attitude we did return the room 'keys' straight away (which we was going to do on leaving) she CONFISCATED our luggage until we handed them back.
This was totally unacceptable and would NEVER return to the Soliel again or ever recommend these apartments to anyone. She spoilt our holiday (and we felt we could not stay there every day, so we had to use another beach.
The other staff were very pleasant.

"YES YES YES!!!!"
Overall Hotel Rating:
Where to begin?!!! The hotel is cute and quiet and very clean and if the beach was any closer you would have fish jumping on your balcony! The staff, Rula and her husband Manos, Gaynor and Poppy are some of the nicest people you could ever meet. They will go out of their way to make your holiday great. Myself and my girlfriend had planned on going to America next year but that has now been put on hold as we loved it so much here we booked up straight away and are taking more family with us. Do you ever go on holiday and come back having done so much that you feel like you need another holiday? If so, come here. Perfect location, perfect atmosphere and so peaceful. Literally counting the days! Be advised, book early because every single person that we met in the hotel had been before and would be booking again!! Just one more thing to add and that is that we also were here at the same time in June 2009 as another reviewer that has left a review on here and we are just so relieved that people like that have decided not to come back. Bottom line if you want a lovely relaxing couple holiday come here, you will love it. If you want to be rude, loud have fights and generally try to spoil everyone elses holiday then please feel free to go somewhere else.

"Not so good"
Overall Hotel Rating:
The only time i would go back to the hotel is to burn it down!! maid was poor, didnt even look at our room not toilet paper for a week we had to buy it, one set of towels for a week, one set of sheets for a week. Rula (the owner) was always very rude and things did go missing from our rooms (wallets)... fortunately with nothing in.

"Soleil Apartments review"
Overall Hotel Rating:
rula and staff are brilliant, they could not do enough to ensure our stay at the soleil was the best ever. food at the soleil is good quality and very resonabily priced. the bbq night is not to be missed. stalis has good nightlife with live music at dwyers irish bar and the beachcomber, there are numerous good restaurants with the efi family and amici being 2 of the best. if you are looking for a special meal with top class silver service take a 10 euro taxi ride and go to galini's in koutalafari or the cretean night in old hersonissos on a monday at 8pm.
we shall definately return to the soleil and would thoroughly recommend it
"Soleil Apartments review"
Overall Hotel Rating:
We have just returned from the Soleil Apartments after a great weeks holiday and for the first time have been moved to write a report.
The apartments are a fairly small establishment(about 14 rooms I think)and are situated right on the beach. Rula (the owner)and Monica are lovely ladies - so friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them. The rest of the staff are all great too.
The apartments themselves are quite basic (this is Greece remember), but are spotlessly clean, with the maid coming every day except Sunday. Whilst I wouldn't like to have to rely on the cooking facilities to feed a family they are more than adequate for basic needs. The rooms have air-con (at an extra charge of ?40 for the week I think)
As other people have said, the pool is fairly small, however the fact that you are right on the beach more than makes up for this. At least it did in our opinion as we are more beach people than pool people anyway.
There is a small bar area, serving breakfasts and snacks, but Rula and Monica put no pressure on you to eat or drink at Soleil - although I have to say the food is very good, especially the Sunday night barbeque (which includes Greek dancing around the pool).
Stalis itself is pretty much a typical Greek Island resort, with a single main strip of bars and restaurants. Most of the restaurants have the same menu, which covers everything you can think of from typical Greek dishes, to pizza, pasta, salads and steaks.
A lot of the bars are Irish, but there are plenty of others to choose from as well if that's not your thing and the PRs are not as pushy as in some resorts I've visted (at least they weren't in June, it might be a different story in high season).
One bar worth mentioning is Akti Bar, owned by the same people as the Soleil Apartments. It's a fairly big bar, again right on the beach and Andy the DJ will play pretty much anything you ask him to.
However the beauty of Stalis is that it's only a few minutes by taxi from the neighbouring resorts of Malia and Hersonnissos. If you want more nightlife then Malia is a ?6 trip and in the other direction are the shops and harbour restaurants of Hersonnissos (?8 in a cab). This makes Stalis the perfect place for a relaxing holiday, with lively nightlife on the doorstep but not in your face.
We are hoping to return in September (another first as I have never been back to the same place more than once!)
