The best of both worlds is waiting for you at the Alexandra, a cosy, bright and well looked after hotel. Wake up to the breathtaking views from your room. Enjoy a day lounging by the hotel pool. You don't have to move, as the bar stays open till the last person leaves. But if you want to step things up in a big way, you've got two choices: hit the many bars and clubs of Malia, or jump in a cab and head for Stalis - one of the liveliest spots on Crete. The hotel attracts predominantly couples who appreciate its central location.

Stayed in the VA for the third time since 2006, will be doing so again next year.Pavlos, Toni and Rania as well as the maids can't do enough for you. There are a few steps to encounter if you are on the upper (3rd) floor but the view is well worth it. The maids are around regular and if you need anything you just have to ask. Pavlos and the crew are doing some alterations during the Winter and we are looking forward already to be going back next year.

Very Friendly atmosphere throughout holiday

BBQ nite at the apartments adults 15euros /chd 9 euros free wine, greek dancers

apartments and pool area clean and tidy

pool bar prices very reasonable /pool table, table football and internet.
all staff very friendly and helpful
rooms cleaned daily towels and bedding every 2nd day
restaurants try Knossos and El Greco (right Side) Artemis (left side)

waterpark - watercity

Pavlo (main guy) and Banos must'nt forget nancy pavlo's little dog.

we arrived about 4pm at the apartments and were welcomed and shown to our room by 1 of the 2 guys that run it. rooms were clean and tidy and plenty of towels dbl wardrobe and couple of drawers (could do with more drawer space) kids got changed and went straight into pool, nice area plenty of beds. we unpacked then went to relax and have a beer by the pool. people around the pool were friendly and it stayed that way.

To get to the restaurants and bars we had to cross the main road but we didnt have a problem (just be careful) its about 5 min walk to the main beach road and you have a choice turn right or left both have bars and restaurants we seemed to eat more on the right side try Knossos we ate there 3 times, El Greco further along there are 2 swinging chair bars kids will love them, must give them a ago but do get uncomfortable after awhile. and on the left try Artemis we ate there twice but we didnt have a bad meal at any of the places we chose.

Down to the beach we went to the left side watch out as 1 of the attendants tried to get 12 euros out of us, only the day before we paid 6 euros - 4 beds and umbrella. the sea can be a bit rough but a lifeguard is on duty and he can't half blow that whistle. a Doughnut man walks along the beach 2/3 times aday kids could'nt wait for him to arrive at 1.50euro choc, jam, plain must try one. If you want watersports go to the right side of beach road where you will find all the usual sports. Pavlos BBQ nite was a good nite he cooks all the meat and you get free wine (not bad) or orange juice (kids) and greek dancers. we all enjoyed it even the men joined in with the dancing. Poolbar - most of us ended up at he poolbar for a nite cap next time we looked at the time it would be 2/3hrs later it had a relaxing atmosphere and if you fancy a game of pool see pavlo he will try his best to beat you, on some occasions he did.

this was our first time self-catering and we were unsure if we had done the right thing we have had a lovely holiday and will go back to crete stalis and back to villa alexandra. If you are staying here we hope you enjoy it.

booking this holiday in Nov 06 we where looking for somewhere suitable for children with good flight times and this seemed to foot the bill, the flights and resort of stalis were excellent but the accomadation left a lot to be desired, when we arrived we where told to sit and wait as to get in the accomadation there was a steep flight of stairs, eventually some one arrived to help us with our luggage;the rep suggested trying to get a strong male from the pool area as we where two friends travelling with children.

When we got in the room i realised there was no balcony just a table and chairs placed outside the door on the walkway and the room smelled of damp after complaining and getting nowhere with airtours imanaged to get another room a few doors down which had more of a balcony(good job as there was no table and chairs in the apartment)although you got no sun at any time of the day, i would anyone planning to stay at these apartments not to except rooms 7-10 as there is no privacy, there is a lift in the property but most people preferred to use this access.

this place is dangerous stairs everywhere there was 22 in our company from 2 to 79 and everybody fell at one time or another on the wet stairs i fell down one flight that had no handrail so didnt stop till i hit the bottom luckily all i had was bruises

pool and bar was nice but on leaving alex there is a busy main road and alex is right at the junction so you have to be alert and fast even going under the road is along to your right across the junction when coming in at night 1am or 2am the barman would tell you to be quiet but when he feels like it the bar is open till 3 or 4 with music banging out a few people moaned but didnt say nowt to him as he laughs at them

the villa alex was a big dissappointment i like a drink and agood time ive been going to malia since 92 stalis is an excellent place we were there for my daughters wedding which was excellent the cretans lapped up all the scots in kilts

i will probably be going to stalis till i am to old to go but not to villa alex ive been going to crete for 15 yrs and this is the first time i have been let down i am writing this so nobody else gets let down

After reading some peoples reviews of this place i was wondering what to expect, but please let me put your mind at rest. We and all the people we met at Villa Alexandra had really nice and enjoyable holiday, the rooms where basic but comfortable and Ok they where cleaned everyday by the maid and the complex itself was spotless not a bit of litter anywhere. All the staff escpecially Nick were helpful, polite and most accomadating. i could not fault this place so much so i am definatly going back.

This holiday was spent with a wide range of age groups from 2 years old to 68 we all made friends with each other and had a great time.

If your thinking of booking here id say do it and is there any room me??

Having already read the previous reviews we were a bit worried about the Villa Alexandra. However, we arrived to find that the appartments had been taken over by new owners and we had no complaints about them at all. I would recommend the Coach and Horses bar - great food and friendly staff!

We loved the resort and will be back to stay at the Villa Alexandra!

The resort of Stalis is all encompassing - no matter what age is needed to be catered for.

There are many tavernas, cafes and restaurants in which to drink or eat, however, be prepared to dodge many advancing proprietors aiming to entice you into their establishments. Many bars offer their facilities for you to watch a number of newly released DVD movies some showing at least two a night. There is not much need to venture into other resorts looking for bargains as Stalis has them all, from alcohol to food (However tobacco is not cheap in Crete.)

The beaches are very well maintained and the sunbeds are reasonably priced. There are also many companies offering good deals on car hire, we rented a car for a week and explored the island, well worth doing. Samaria gorge is a must ( but take suitable footwear!!!)

As for the Villa Alex - this accommodation could have been perfect for our needs; the studio we stayed in was spacious, clean and well presented, however - after 0100 hrs when the bar shut and the staff vacated the premises this complex, described as ";great for families and couples in search of a warm and friendly self catering accommodation"; (Airtours, brochure - summer 2004) became a PLAYGROUND FOR INTOXICATED IMMATURE INDIVIDUALS TO 'PARTY' OFTEN TILL WELL GONE THREE IN THE MORNING!!! Their noise and improper use of the swimming pool not only caused sleepless nights for other residents but also raised safety issues. In our opinion the mix of guests was unfortunate and Airtours ability to deal with the situation was limited, the resulting frustration has clouded our judgment and will definitely influence the booking of our next holiday.
