I adore Hanioti, it is one of my favourite places in the world. The people are so friendly and welcoming and some of them have become friends. The Square and the surrounding streets are the place to be at night, to people watch and enjoy good food and drinks. The fountain is lovely to sit and watch. I would definitely recommend the area. Although the bars are all open late there are no nightclubs, though you can get a taxi to the nightclubs in Kalithea for around 11 euro. It is a very relaxing, chilling out place to go on holiday.

Hanioti overall is a good place to relax and watch the world go by, you can get 2 sunbeds and a parasol for 6 euros or if you use the beach bar sunbeds you get them free if you buy a drink. All the restaurants are either in the main square or just off the main square. There are plenty of shops to wonder around and don't miss the cake shops and bakeries, doughnuts the size of car tyres :). All in all a very nice place to visit and relax

If you want the charm of Greek culture, you won't find it on the Kassandra peninsular, Sithonia was far more scenic but only one fair size town if its nightlife you're looking for in a holiday. We will not return to Pella Beach hotel and not to Halkadiki either. It was a shame we had bad weather but that does show up what else is on offer in a resort and we felt let down from that aspect.

The weather was cold, windy & raining. The place its self is boring Hanioti is a small village bolstered by tourism and centres around the village square which due to the weather we spent ages trudging around. It was nice to see people with umbrellas and raincoats (plastic variety) aimlessly meandering about sort of like Rhyl and if you remember that scene from Midnight Express were the inmates for exercise go around and around, I think you will get the picture.

The exchange rate being poor makes the prices either the same or more expensive than the UK. Even basics say olive oil is far cheaper in Tesco’s. I was surprised by the amount of Serbians, Russians, Bulgarians that were there, the Eastern Europeans make up the biggest tourist groupings. Probably the best bar was the Sunshine Cocktail bar a place were your average drink costs 7 Euro but they do give you nuts and crisps. However what really made it was that it had a roaring log fire going. The rest of the Tavernas and bars tried to warm up using those calour gas patio heater things. Entertainment consists of huge TV’s showing football or music videos so I think you can tell that they don’t really try to make it an enjoyable experience. I did watch Liverpool playing a dull 0 – 0 draw against Stoke which sort of summed up the holiday.

I was talking to a couple on the way back who had been on one of the sunshine tours (boat trip) who said they had paid 32 Euro each for a cruise, the barbeque was two pieces of bread and a beefburger and a glass of wine all their travel companions were Germans. I did ask if it was a u/boat? But because they had paid for it the owner would not refund any money so they sort of had to go and off they set sail into the squalls wishing that the trip would soon end.

We did go to Thessalonica though and that was OK I did my museum thing which I enjoyed very much. We also used the local bus to try the neighbouring resorts they were probably better than Hanioti but we are only discussing shades of mediocracy
