"Halkidiki Palace"
Overall Hotel Rating:
Small family run hotel, all descriptions by thomson that I read were accurate and good value for money. It suits couples, young families and mature couples. It is situated between Polichrono and Hanioti which is fine because the minibus is available at regular times throughout the day and evening and if you like walking its only 20 mins eachway to walk (taxi 5/6 euro 1 way). Rooms are spacious and the Air con is worth paying for at 5 euro's a day. The balconies are large and all have sea and Sithonia penninula views ( its 5 min walk to beach across main road). The tv had bbc news which we quite liked and the odd british tv programme (I wasnt interrested but my 12 yr old son switched on!). The hotel library was very useful once you'd finished your own book and for a charge you can log on to the internet (useful for teens). Breakfast was varied with a bit of hot and cold and I thought was at good times as finished 10am (however if you miss it the doughnuts on the beach are 2 euro's and will fill you up!).

"Halkidiki Palace"
Overall Hotel Rating:
We stayed at Halkidiki Palace Hotel for two weeks (from 27 August 2007) and intended getting out and about to see as much as possible of the area. We were so comfortable and so well looked after by the staff and owners of the hotel that we only went out on three excursions! We went to Thessaloniki on a shopping trip with the added highlights of seeing the sights of the capital. This was a good trip with plenty of designer shops to browse. Another trip was the round trip of Sithonia, a lovely day and lunch was very tasty! Our third trip was Market and Mountains - the market at Nea Moudania where there are lots of stalls selling all sorts of fruit and vegetables and then into the Holmondas Mountains to a really rustic taverna run by Sogambros. This is a must! The experience is not to be missed. Mikalis and Amy (the owners of Halkidiki Palace) were fantastic, nothing was too much trouble and we are aware that any problems were dealt with and solved immediately. The food again was brilliant and served by the delightful Kaity! We made really good friends with Kaity who is a really hardworking young lady and who again could not do enough for us, service with a smile every time. The rooms are comfortable and all have a balcony and sea views. Alex, who drives the hotel's mini-bus and does all the other odd jobs around the hotel, is a great person as is Yanis, the late night barman. The hotel has its own small library - which grows a little larger each time someone leaves a book that they have either brought with them or purchased while they are on holiday. There is also an internet facility for the sad people who need to connect while on holiday. Greek Night at the sister hotel (Hilltop) is a must.

"An excellent hotel "
Overall Hotel Rating:
We have just returned from an excellent holiday at the Halkadiki Palace Hotel .
The hotel is situated in between two resorts polychrono and hanioti on a fairly busy main road. There are four blocks of rooms and we were near the top in 408 where the traffic noise wasnt noticable and we had an excellent view.
There were plenty of mozzies about so do use plenty of repellant etc.
The hotel though is spotless and the staff etc are excellent.
The prices are fairly expensive, we paid 25 euros for the three of us to use the minibus for two weeks, 25 euros for the safety deposit box and for the last 5 days when it got very hot we paid 5euros a day for the air conditioning in the room,
The nearest beach is across the main road and down a path through the Alexander the Great apartments and then onto the beach. Its fabulous though, crystal blue sea and white beach. Its not sandy more like fine shingle but its fine. There is also a nice taverna there with fresh fish and other local greek food.
The pool at the hotel was fine, plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas and a small childrens park and pool. If you have kids be careful of the large pool, it gets deep very quickly.
The best local resort is Hanioti, It has a large square with lots of resturants and tavernas there and plenty of shops too. The hotel minibus is great for getting there and back and there is a time table in the hotel reception. The public buses also stop directly in front of the hotel. There are also taxis and the staff at the reception of the hotel can book them if you ask.
Would reccommend the trips to Sithonia and Mt Athos Cruise as both were excellent but were quite long days.
Overall the hotel was excellent it is a bit out of the way but is very peaceful and we had a very relaxing holiday,

"Halkidiki Palace - June 2008"
Overall Hotel Rating:
Have just returned from a week at the Halkidiki Palace and had a fantastic time!
Although the hotel is a fair distance from both the resorts of Hanioti and Polichrono (about a 30min walk to Hanioti and 45min walk to Polichrono) it is only 10 euros return in a cab and even cheaper on the local bus. One day we hired a quad bike out and drive the length of the peninsula. Would recommend you do this as it gives you the opportunity to explore the tiny beaches you see when going past on coaches and stop wherever you like for a spot of shopping or a nice cold drink to cool you down! The hotel was clean at all times and the rooms were cleaned everyday. Most of the staff were friendly although there was a few occassions when all we got was a grunt when saying 'Good Morning' or 'Good Night'! We stayed on Bed & Breakfast board and the food was served as a buffet style. There was a wide range of options but each morning the main hot meal was egg so if you dont like egg then you will be stuck with cereal and toast all holiday!
If travelling with Thomson then i recommend that you give the 'Market Mania' trip a miss as when you get there it is a market aimed more for the locals with little for the tourists to buy (unless you fancy taking a chicken home or lots of fruit & veg!) Recommend the 'Sunshine Cruise' though as you get a full day out with the opportunity to relax on a deserted beach and swim in the clear blue sea!
Overall we had a great time and would definitely return to Halkidiki and the Halkidiki Palace!

"Halkidiki Palace review"
Overall Hotel Rating:
Really nice hotel, staff all really friendly and accommodating. The hotel is situated between the resorts of Hanioti and Polichrono. You can walk to either resorts on the old beach road and it takes about 30 minutes (probably would have been less but it was so hot!) I would recommend paying the money to get air conditioning in your room as it can get really hot. Also the hotel operates a shuttle bus to Hanioti about 6 times a day and it only cost 20 euros for two weeks.
Hanioti is a nice resort with a busy square with lots of restaurants, bars etc. We liked the italian restaurant in the square.
The sunset cruise offered by thomson is well worth it. We also did the Mount Athos cruise which was really interesting but was a very long day. The sister hotel also ran a greek night which was great fun, be prepared to join in the dancing though- the waitress Katie wouldn't let you get out of it!
Overall, a really nice holiday, we would definately go back to Halkidiki.

Overall Hotel Rating:
Another fantastic week at this beautiful hotel. All staff still the same, and probably more helpful than ever!!!!
The fire last year has removed a lot of the surrounding forests, but the hotel survived only just!!!!
I would reccommend this hotel to anyone who wants a good, safe, relaxing holiday.
We met again some lovely people, and in the next few years to come, we will make more, on our annual visit to The Halkdiki Palace.

"Halkidiki Palace review"
Overall Hotel Rating:
When we arrived at the hotel the staff were very friendly took our passports and told us to have a drink while they sorted our room, they were all smiles,we arrived at about 9pm so decided to eat in the hotel resteraunt, our first mistake it was dreadful so as we had only booked bed and breakfast we were a bit relieved, if you like eggs you have got it made one day it was fried egg on toast next day scammbled egg on toast, next poached egg and boiled egg and so on if you didn,t like eggs there was no other hot dishes!
After the initial meeting we never saw the oldest member of staff smile and at times he was quite ignorant. The hotel itself and the rooms were very dated and were past there sell buy date but were very clean.
Polichrono the resort was very good with some excellent places to eat we can reccomend Falegra that do fantastic fresh fish dishes, Aypa was a very good all round Greek food and Kleanthis served very good food.
Hanioti is a very close resort and the resteraunt La Romantica was superb and well worth a visit, and if you like a drink and dont want the usual Mythos and Amstel visit the 100 Beer House they have a fantastic selection and ask Mario for the Wheat beer it was fabulous. All in all a nice holiday shame about the hotel and staff.
"Halkidiki Palace review"
Overall Hotel Rating:
We were originally going away for 2 weeks. But after the first week (which was very enjoyable) we were caught in the devestating forest fires and had to cut our holiday short. So we are going to give a review on the services we recieved during the first week.
Checking in. Very friendly and helpful. However, the staff seemed very happy when taking extra money from us. We had to pay extra for the air conditioning, the fridge, the ";courtesy"; bus into Hanioti, a fan if required. Once all these extras had been paid for, we never got another smile from the 'oldest member of staff' during our stay.
Katie was very helpful (gave us extra feta cheese upon request) but the rest of the staff were very hostile.
The pool area and the general grounds of the hotel was very nice. We did not like the idea of having to order your evening meal just after you've eaten your breakfast in the morning. If you didnt fancy what you'd ordered, then it was tough luck basically.
The two surrounding resorts were very good, had lots of bars and restaurants and shops. And the locals seemed fairly friendly. The hotel was about a half an hour walk from polichrono and Hanioti. But the courtesy bus (which we had paid 13 euros for, per room, per week, for the use of) only ran to Hanioti.
After our first week, everything went downhill. The forest fire engulfed the surroundings of the hotel and although this was obviously not the fault of the hotel and the staff, we felt that there wasn't ANY proper procedures in place for an evacuation. We basically had to fend for ourselves. There was no headcount, no rooms were checked, even one of the doors was locked. The manager eventually ordered us into the minibus to try and escape, but there was no driver there. We escaped with our lives in spite of them and not because of them.
When we eventually went back to collect our baggage, which was two days later, we received no help what so ever.
Overall, we have lost a week of our holiday, it's been a traumatic experience and we were very disappointed with the way the staff handled and presented themselves.
Would recomend the resort but not the hotel.

Overall Hotel Rating:
A very different greek holiday.
We found the hotel lovely and extremely relaxing. The pool and pool bar are super. Breakfast was continental with a hot choice as well. There is a busy main road right by the hotel but the plus side was that once across the road and down to Alexanders taverna on the beach was fabulous. Silver white sand and only 12 -15 sunbeds well spaced out. Lots of fish to see in the sea if you like snorkeling. You can have a super lunch overlooking the blue azure sea. The hotel runs a shuttle bus 6 times a day for only 13 euros per week per room. Well worth it.
The hotel is nearer Haniotti than polichrono but both are accesible by walking the old beach road. Haniotti is lively and pretty. Lots of super Tavernas. We particulary liked Annas where all the greek people eat. Food and beer were cheaper all round here than anywhere we have been.
For a relaxing holiday this was super.

Overall Hotel Rating:
I have just returned from an amazing two weeks at the Halkidiki Palace. It really was a fantastic holiday and the owners at the Palace will do their very best to make you feel like a welcomed member of the family. Although there is not much to do for children, Micheal and his wife entertained my daughter Emily as if she were their own, truley lovely people!!! And all the other people who work there are equally as warm and freindly especially Katie who will do just about anything for you...we miss you all greatly.
The Hotel holds a Greek night every two weeks in their other hotel....FANTASTIC!!! We had such a great night well worth it.
As the hotel is on the main road between Polichrono and Hanioti there is not much to do surrounding the hotel although a short taxi ride in to either towns costs next to nothing . We found a lovely quiet beach just accross the road from the hotel and through another appartment block where we saw the most beutiful sunset ever, and if you look hard enough you can see the dolphins.
Hanioti has a lovely beach with numerous beach bars and the water is lovely and clear. We spent many a day lazing around on the sea front while the freindly barmen catered to our every need and we didnt enter the bar once as they come to you. also the 'DO NET MAN' (donut man) who walks the entire length of the beach everyday to serve you with the most biggest and tasty donuts ever!!
Hanioti Town also has some lovely shops and restaurants we spent most of our holiday in Hanioti it will always have a little place in my heart it is a perfect town full of freindly people who will go out of their way to make sure you enjoy yourself whatever you do.
All in all a wonderfull holiday and we will definatley be returning next year and i would recomend it to anyone!!
