The resort seemed like it had one purpose,..

To extract as much money from you as possible. Very expensive for drinks, very expensive for car hire. Not good value for money at all..

Our room was in need of modernazation to say the least, rather dreary but clean all the same

The food was poor at best. In the afternoon resturant food is bland and oily,served by grumpy rude people whom seem more intrested in clock watching than paying attention to your holiday requirments.The food is left to stew in hot banbury's and then served up by sweaty chefs who give you dirty looks if you even dare to ask what items are. There are waiters/supervisors whos only job, it seemed was to chat up any female with a pair of boobs. When you reach the till.!! at the end of the self catering motorway style service area you are met by the rudest woman i would imagine in the whole Greek isles. I had cake with 'wire in' and fish with rather fetching black hairs on top of it. After those experiences i didn't frequent it any more so can't report on any other delights i maight have come across.

In the main dining area we witnessed slanging matches between various waitresses, rude, over pressured head waiters who are more intrested in getting people in and out as quick and painless as they can. When the owners of the hotel are there, at there top table don't count on receiving too much attention, unless its a scowl or two. I also experienced hairs in my food in this buffet style,free for all dining experience.

The price of drinks in the hotel bar are extortionate. The entertainment is poor/virtually non existent.

The pool area was ok and the pool was always quite clean, (although this might be due to its good filtration system rather than any employees). However the pool is very shallow so if you like to dive forget it. The pool bar is poor and rather expensive. The pool barman/lifeguard ( on dutie from 10.00am untill 5.00pm) was as miserable as sin. His only intrest seemed to be a waitress whom visited him frequently from the afternoon dining area. You are not allowed to do much at all in the pool apart from swim lenghts of it or stand still in it..!! Otherwise the barman/lifeguard will not be please & tell you off. No Diving,Jumping, Ball Games,Running,Laughing and generally having fun are not allowed.. You have to think hard to remember you are on holiday and and not in a prison camp.

The hotel is at the bottom of a hill so to get the the main resort you have to climb it. There are taxis always circling the hotel who will only be to willing to take a fiver off you to get you 200 mtrs. Not a 4 star by a long long way I came away feeling ripped off

When we arrived in Lassi it was closing down for winter- we had originally booked with Kosmar for late September but were able to rebook with First Choice 5th to 19th Oct. Probably due to Kosmar going under a lot of the tavernas and bars opted to close during our first week and by the time we left there were four tavernas and one truly awful bar open only. Lassi was like a ghost town. However the weather was glorious, the beaches were empty and the tavernas that were open were ever so pleased to see you. First Choice were excellent and their rep in resort (Sammi) was a credit to them.

Situated on the edge of Lassi next to the Princess Hotel the Marinos Apartments are very well kept and the owners are never obtrusive but on hand more or less 24?7. We found these studios to be the highest standard of any we have had on many previous visits to Kefalonia , they are modern, soundly constructed and well decorated. There is even a shower cubicle with a screen - a rarity in Greece. There was a full range of kitchen equipment, better towels than we have at home and the maid service was regular and efficient - we could not have wished for a better place to stay. The location of the studios means you have to be prepared to walk some little distance into Lassi centre (such as it is) but it is level and easy walking.

A traditional fishing village with just about the right amount of development.

We stayed at the Albouro in mid October around the end of the season, and found the whole experience wonderful. The whole place has a very 'Family run' air about it and everyone involved was very helpful and fiendly.

The food in the Albouro Taverna is excellent and very reasonably priced and they cannot do enough to accomodate you. The grounds and setting are beautiful and it's a delight to stand on your balcony and look out onto the Aegean, which is about 100 metres away.

The main village of Katelios is quiet and picturesque with a good variey of tavernas, 2 supermarkets, a couple of excursion/vehicle hire shops and a gift shop.

If you're going to hire a car then the man to see is Kostas Tsimilidis. He runs Venus Car Hire a little out of the main village, and has very reasonable rates and descent vehicles to rent. Kostas gives you good advice and is a pleasure to deal with.

Kefallonia is a very beautiful island and it's worthwhile hiring a car and exploring. Assos is well worth the white knuckle ride of the North Western cliff road (unless your particularly afraid of heights). The hills around Fiskardo are particularly beautiful, whilst the road inland to Sami and Pouros passes through some fantastic villages that are literally hanging from the mountain sides.

Overall the holiday was very relaxing, Kefallonia is a beautiful unspoilt island and the Albouro was excellent. We hope to return in 2009.

Perfect location for relaxing and enjoying transparent waters and beautiful beaches. Very calm, beautiful colors... Restaurants and convenient stores at reach. If you want to visit the rest of the island, it is good though to plan to rent a car, Argostoli, the main city of the island is ten minutes away by car

I stayed there with a friend for one week. A very nice address. I simply remember the wonderful view on the sea. Sunset from one of the balcony is a must. A nice beach just two minutes away walking. The environment and the ambient of that hotel were so nice and peaceful that we had to make an effort to move and visit the rest of the island. It's really the perfect location if you want to chill out and just take advantage of the perfect weather, beaches, colors... The owners,as the rest of the people we met on the island, were really welcoming and helpeful. Personnaly, I really love this kind of cosy ambients. really one of my best holidays experiences

Had a great holiday but if we went again would stay in a different hotel.

We stayed at the Tara Beach for two weeks in June 2008. The location is perfect and Skala is amazing. However the Tara Beach was a little disapointing. Our room was very small, we had booked a double but had two twins pushed together. There were dead flys on the wall that had been there for goodness knows how long, the cleaners and staff were very freindly but feel the hotel is very outdated. The breakfast was the worst part, bread and jam every day for two weeks just gets a bit much.... The pool area was ok but much prefered the beach as the pool seemed to attract the older generation and felt a bit out of place. Will be be going back to Skala but not to the Tara beach, so many nicer hotels on the same road and not for that much more money.

I had a great time there, definitely go again! People running the hotel very friendly and lovely. Beatiful accomodation, lovely surroundings, nice location.

Lassi is a small paradise for everyone who wants to go away from the hectic pace and the crowd of big cities. We had easy access to all faclilities and restaurants and beaches were on walking distance. It is also ideal location if you want to have a tour of the island, as it is almost in the middle of it. And the capital city is near by!

I stayed at Venia's apartments with my husband for three weeks last summer! It was one of the most pleasant experiences in my life!!!Venia's studios are only three minutes walk from Mediterannee sandy beach with clen and transparent water. In the end of our first week, we also discovered a tiny, cute beach, closed to the main beach where we could have more privacy. Nikos and Irene, the owners of the apartment were very sweet and always willing to give us guidance about the main attractions of the island. They even offered us home-made wine and traditional sweets of the island. We were so touched!The apartments, -although they are not luxury- are comfortable, clean and cosy. There is a beautiful garden where we used to relax when we were coming back from the sea and fantastic view! Especially during the sunset! The enviromet was very peacuful and we also had all the main facilities we needed in our room. The restaurants and convinience shops of the area were only a few-minues walk. Ah! And the price is really good. We are looking forward to next summer for going back to Kefalonia and to Venia. We would reccomend it to anybody. Ophelia D.

The weather was poor overall and sometimes that can cloud your view of the experience. We were pleased we'd chosen a nice hotel, because that's important if you end up spending more time there than you'd expected. We've had great holidays in Turkey, when the rooms have been bare but the weather scorching. Skala was a little disappointing, meals expensive and certainly not memorable. We find that the Greeks try to cook what they think we'll like rather than what they are good at, but then you can't please everyone. Glad we had the car too, as trips were very expensive.
