A traditional fishing village with just about the right amount of development.

Overall
We stayed at the Albouro in mid October around the end of the season, and found the whole experience wonderful. The whole place has a very 'Family run' air about it and everyone involved was very helpful and fiendly.

The resort is definitely for those who prefer quiet, even sedate, hols. Most teenagers would be bored witless. The sea is warm and clear, though not great for snorkelling. We ate mostly at the Katelios Taverna - good food, reasonable prices, friendly sevice. The beach bar near the tobacco shack is a great place for a chilled Mythos and/or snack; though not especially cheap, the location is second to none. We don't do coach tours - but were glad we broke the habit of a lifetime in visiting the local travel office and booking an Island Tour; much the best way to see the sights of Kefalonia without the responsibility of steering a car round the hair-raising hairpins, with an interesting commentary about the island's history and customs along the way. We also did Captain Kostis's fast boat ride to Poros (also calls at Skala) - great fun, with interesting views along the way. Captain K's first priority is clearly not Health and Safety, but none of us was lost overboard..... All in all, a great holiday in pleasant apartments on a fascinating Greek island.

The Medusa apartments are lovely - light and airy, steps away from the beach and tavernas. The bedlinen and towels are changed every few days and the bins emptied daily. We had plenty of space for two of us, a twin-bedded room plus a separate dining/kitchen...

Resort: we loved Katelios. Small enough to still feel Greek, big enough to eat in a different restaurant every night for 2 weeks. The beach is only average with a shingle/sandy mix and slghtly scruffy (the nearby beaches at Mounda are beautiful and home to turtles). It's all personal taste, but we particularly enjoyed the following restaurants: 4 Brothers, Cosys (for lunch), Jerry's Ellinikos (for Mary's kindness to our 2 girls) and the Katelios Taverna.

Aug 08 - we stayed at the Efrosini village for 2 weeks as a family (2 adults, and our daughters aged 2 and 1). Our overall view was that this was an excellent place for a family beach type holiday. Highly recommended.

Katelios is great if you want a quiet relaxing holiday with great beaches not far away. You should hire a car and go round the whole island to make the most of it there is so much to see. There are plenty of restaurants in Katelios and at reasonable prices. Not much nightlife but its not that kind of place. You will have a great time.
