Skala Holiday Reviews

The town of Skala is ideal for a relaxing holiday. There are plenty of Tavernas and a few bars, including Captains Bar who has a happy hour every evening selling half price cocktails. The Old Village Taverna with owner Nikos, and waiter, Danny, was superb and the service was first class.

The resort we found very pleasant and very close to are hotel the shop keepers very freindly and always spoke to you and not to loud on the evening the shops had everything that you needed if you were on a selfcateing holiday and for gifts

If you are looking for a quiet relaxing holiday without wild nightlife it is the ideal place.A very good selection of eating places three or four supermarkets offering most of what you will require. Unfortunately there appeared to be few people around in the main street area especially in the evenings, due to the credit crunch and recession, although the prices in the resort appear to be the same as three years ago when we last visited. At that time the main street was buzzing. there are plenty of trips which can be booked in resort, and we would particularly recommend the boat trips which go from Skala Beach to Ithika, Zante & along the coast to Fiscardo.

I have included the resort review in the piece above. Skala is a pretty place, with plenty of good tavernas and bars and little shops. Everyone is so friendly. There are also some great boat trips around the island that leave from here and which we would thoroughly recommend.

Clean, friendly and not too loud. Plenty of decent restaurants and a long beach area. From what we saw the best resort on the island.

Skala was a very quiet and relaxing resort and the restaurants in the town were also very good. We only went for a week so didn't really plan to do much, although I am sure if we had wanted to there would have been plenty to see and do.

The location is perfect, right by the sea with miles of sandy beach to choose from. There are lots of restaurants to choose from, and they generally do the "simpler" food very well. Food is not what you would call "cheap" as it's a Euro zone, but also not expensive if you pick the house wine, which is usually quite drinkable.

Very vegetarian friendly also.

The resort does well as it mixes locals with tourists, it is quite a residential area combined with the hotels. Works very well.

There is not a great deal of nightlife after the restaurants etc which suit us fine. It's perfect for young/older couples just looking for a quiet, relaxing, "do nothing" break.

A nice laid back resort which was very friendly . If you want night clubs & bars that open till the early hours this resort is not for you. But if you want good restaurants & friendly bars with friendly locals then it is the place for you.

Obviously Skala is in the midst of a tidy up,we had been a month before and could see a great improvement.Lots of good restaurants and shops.

Been before and really enjoyed it. A great base to see the island from but nice and quiet in the evenings. Loads of places to eat out but not many bars and no night clubs etc. A bit quiet for the kids and not much to do for the teenagers. Ideally suited for couples both young and old with a huge choice of places to eat albeit a bit samey at times. Much cheaper than Spain and as always much friendlier.

Skala does not have much of a nightlife, a few bars and the like all open late, but don't expect anything too loud. Lots of restaurants, all were quite good. Beach is shingle, so not as good as some of the sandy beaches on the other side of the island

Scala as always lovely,have visited six times now..People lovely resort is relaxing, back again in 2011.already booked.Best restaurant is the "Pines". sunbeds vary from 5euros to 6 euros per day....

The resort is typical of many Greek resorts - a vast array of taverna's to choose fantastic greek food from. There is a great clean, shingle beach which means sand doesn't get everywhere, a well equipped playground for children and plenty of water sports. I would recomend getting a car as there are ample other picturesque and deserted beaches throughout the island to choose from. You won't be dancing into the early hours and but you could be eating into the early hours. I'd suggest the resort is better suited to oung families & couples (young or mature)

A nice resort with a mix of pubs, bars and restaurants. Seemed to be a mixture of couple and families which all got on well. Does not strike me as a nightclub town. But with all those restaurants to try who would want to go nightclubbing!

Sea taxi well worth a trip! Good fun and chance to see the coastline from a different perspective.

Had everything you might need while away relaxing. Would recommend it to friends and family. The pubs were nice and friendly and there were plenty of places to eat during the day and at night. Several supermarkets for self caterers so you can cook at your appts.
