Eleana Apartments Reviews

The Eleana are excellent apartments in three blocks in pretty gardens on the outskirts of Skala about 15 mins walk from the beach and bars (mainly on the flat, just steps down to the beach). The safety deposit box is free of charge and there is loads of storage in the apartments, which are quite modern, spacious and very clean (cleaned nearly every day and regular change of towels and bedding) and ours also had a proper bath. The pool etiquette is quite restrictive for children but for couples it’s no problem at all and makes for a very peaceful day round the pool. The sister hotel, Marietta, across the road, is the place to go to hire air con (7 euros per day); you can also use all their facilities. They have BBQ nights and the bar was open late, whereas the Eleana pool bar shuts at 6pm. The beach was large and sandy (although the sea is all pebbles) with loads of sunbeds (6 euros for two beds and a brolly). The restaurants were all excellent and reasonably good value for money. We thought the Discover Kefalonia tour very good value and worthwhile for an overview of the island. The only downside was due to our choice of flight times, we arrived around 11pm with no-one to meet us. The rep had to walk round the complex looking for our room (he wasn’t familiar with it) and the key was in the door. The room was very hot and we didn’t get air con until the next day. When we left, our pick up was 6pm, checkout is 10am and there is no courtesy room (apart from the pool shower) and no option to keep your apartment (even if you pay extra). The rep suggested we book a room for the day at the Skala Hotel! Overall the apartments are excellent, Skala is a superb resort, especially for couples wanting a relaxing holiday but with plenty of choice for meals and drinks, and we would definitely return again, but with different flights!!

This was our first time in Kefolonia. The Eleanna Apartments are lovely and clean, cleaner came every day, linen and towles were changed every other day.The resort of Scala was very good, the only complaint we had was that there is virtually no public transport, so unless you hire a car you are stuck in Scala. We did'nt find this too bad as we went on the Island tour with one of the operators in the main street,which are much cheaper than the tour operators themselves, this was excellecnt as the guide was english and knew everything there was to know about the country as she had lived there 17 years.
We never had a poor meal, and all at reasonable prices.
We would definatley go back to Kefalonia and would reccomend it to anyone along with the Eleanna apartments

This was our second time to Scala with Kosmar and again the service was fantastic. The Eleanna Apartments are fairly new, they are spotlessly clean and very very comfortable. Our room was very big with one double bed, one single, loads of wardrobe space, cupboards and drawers. Big dressing table space with large mirror. 2 ring cooker, fridge, lots of cutlery and crockery. Table and two chairs. The bathroom is large with bath and shower. Good sized balcony with table and two chairs. The rooms were cleaned every day and towels and bedding changed twice per week.

The apartments are about 5-6 minutes walk from Scala centre with a great pool, lots of sunbeds and pool bar and snack bar. We did find the food at the snack bar quite dear but the Greek coffee is fantastic and the beer is icy cold. The bar is only open until 8pm but the sister apartments Marietta across the road is open til late.
The bar staff, cleaners and owners are very friendly. It was quiet when we were there and there was never any problem getting a sun bed.

Although there is a bit of building going on in Scala it is still unspoilt. Lots of fantastic tavernas, our favourite is Socrates, every night the food is home cooked by Mother and there are at least 3 specials. The grilled fish, lamb in lemon, beef stifado and home made millefeuille come highly recommended.
We went on two Kosmar trips - the evening in Agostoli - which we didnt really rate - although interesting, the town is a bit too modern. The day cruise to Ithaca though was brilliant, well organised and loads to see - the island of Ithaca is truely magical and I really want to go back soon.

We had a mini heatwave whilst we were there, the temperatures were in the 30s most days so we were very lucky.
One of the best Greek holidays we have ever had , we will definately be back.
BEWARE - new Kefalonian law this year - no glass bottles in your suitcases, we all had to dig about in our cases at the airport and take them out and carry them on. The police WILL ensure that you take them out.

Flew with British Midlands who were very good, landed in Lefkas on the way home to drop off and pick up some passengers but only added about an hour so not so bad.

we stayed at the eleana apartments in skala for a 7 night duration in early september 2005.The aparptments was very clean and well maintained, the pool wasn't very big but it was very clean and relaxing, the service around the pool was good and the food excellent this we thought was a good location to the town because it was quiet at night when you slept and it was only about 7 minutes walk to the main street where you was spoilt for choice with restaurants and good tavernas.

When eating out check the menu prices some freinds we met paid over 51 euros for a meal for two at the PINES restaurant, on average we paid around 22 euros for a meal per couple.we changed our currency at the apartment opposite eleana which is owned by the same people and got the best rates in skala.

To see the island get a car visit the melissani lake,STUNNING,We hired an ATOSS with aircon from CBR RENT A CAR in the main street,it was an english bloke who ran that branch, great got us all over the island comfortably
beach was shingle, waters were to die for especialy if you love snorkeling.
all in all great holiday WILL be going back, hopefully soon.

Our holiday to Skala was superb. The apartments were spacious and clean. The pool was small but adequate and the warmest pool we have every swam in. We ate at the pool bar and the food was great.

Skala itself is a lovely village. We never had a bad meal in all of the 14 nights we were there. The beach is lovely, although shingle. It was never crowded or busy even in August.

We would return to Skala again and to the Eleanna. We would recommend both the village and the accommodation to anyone.
