The hotel is about 40 steps from the beach and in a fabulous location. The hotel grounds and the rooms themselves are finished to a very very high standard. The bathrooms are out of this world. The owners are extremely helpful, the food delicious and the snacks and meals available during the day are excellent. Would recommend the Anassa to anyone.

Been to Kefalonia many times, this is by far the best place to stay. Wonderful welcome, excellent staff and service. Family run and it shows by the care they take even joining in with the entertainment. The hotel seems to attract like minde people - those who want to relax and enjoy what Skala and Kephalonia has to offer.

My partner stayed here for a week in October, and had a thoroughly good time. The hotel was kept immaculately clean, and its' location was perfect- just over the road from the beach. It was also a short walk to the town centre, with plenty of pretty shops and excellent restaurants.

As it's a family owned hotel, it had a very relaxed, friendly atmosphere.

We will definitely stay here again.

We have just returned after spending a week at the Anassa. I had read the reviews beforehand and was extremley pleased to find it lived up to them. We stayed self-catering and found our room was well equiped ( I think a toaster would be a good idea though) and very clean. We liked the pool which was very clean as was the whole of the poolside. The downside being that because the pool is open to non residents and was used a lot by non- residents that it might be hard to get a sun bed during busy periods. We were blessed with glorious weather if not perhaps a bit too hot to goexploring. The resort of Scala is one of the cleanist we have been to. It is nice because in the evening they close off the highstreet to cars. There are lots of nice places to eat. We particulary liked the Flamingo which had the best ever meatballs. We also came across Sallys Garden Bar which we spent every evening having a pre dinner drink. We would highly recommend the resort of Scala and the Anassa Hotel. We are going back in 2009.This was a good resort for couples.

The Anassa hotel Skala is fantastic. The location is perfect and the staff couldnt be more helpful. It was everything you would want for a peaceful relaxing holiday.
The hotel is ideal for older couples as its aimed at a relaxing holiday. We found that noise was'n tolerated around the pool and inflatables were a nuisence to the guests.
The main town of Skala is lovely the restaurants were first class incluing The pines which was outstanding and symposium which was special.

No loud banging bars or lager loats no Kareoke just lovely relaxing places to enjoy a lovely holiday.
Great choice in the supermarkets as its a very british resort (but up market) so Tetley Tea!
The fires did not put us off even though it was a terrifying situation. I feel so sorry for the Greeks who lost so much.

The rooms at the Anassa are sound insulated so a lovely peaceful nights sleep.
The rooms are lovely and most of them bran new and very modern and very private.
The hotel has a barbque night which is great
They have a singer on twice a week who sound like Frank Sinatra we thought he was great! (He lost so much in the fire and he was a really nice guy too) I hope his cats have come home!!!
The hotel also boasts a huge screen over the pool that shows films which was nice after a relaxing meal in the town.
The bar staff are great and made you feel comfortable and relaxed.
A glass bottom boat right outside the hotel will take you to many of the tourist attractions on the island the guy who owns this is really nice and gives you loads of information on the island.

All in all if you want a lovely relaxing holiday with peace and quiet then go to Anassa.

See you next year Anassa xxx

Just returned from our first visit to Kefalonia. Stayed at the Anassa Hotel In Skala. The owners Effie and George are adorable as are all the staff, Kefalonian people in general are so polite and very friendly. The hotel is superb, right opposite the course sandy beach, take beach shoes to get in the water as pebbles make it a bit hard. Mick the beach boy cannot do enough for you, brings you food and drinks if required. Water taxi takes you to Poros or Katelios for 6e.

Skala itself is lovely, one main street with other streets off with plenty of restaurants and bars. At night the main square is filled with local people sitting under the shady pine trees. Down the hill towards the beach is a restaurant called Symposium, it doesn't look much during the day but at night it is beautiful. Lovely lighting, staff that cannot do enough for you and a piano player that plays from around 7pm to 12pm, the food is excellent as is the atmosphere, we loved this place. We went on a couple of tours with Thomson but next time we go we would definately hire a car, the roads are windy but not a lot of traffic and you could go places a tour bus couldn't. A trip to the old village of Skala is worth it but do go about 7 to 7.30 am before the heat gets up. Very poignant feel to the place, glad we went.

Missing Kefalonia already and it's lovely people especially at the Anassa and hope to return soon

This was the first time my partner and I had been to Kefalonia and we were really impressed with both the resort and the island as a whole. The hotel is clean and comfortable, the best thing about it being it's location. It has everything you need, cosy bar area which also serves hot and cold snacks, great pool with plenty of loungers to relax on and evening entertainment too. The only thing that lets it down is the poor quality of the breakfast buffet, which we skipped after the first couple of days.

There is plenty to see on this island and I would say the best way to do this is to hire a car or better still a Jeep like we did so you can take the roof down! I would recommend sampling the wine at the Robola Winery and taking at trip to Mellisani caves.

Skala has a great choice of bars a resturants, we enjoyed meals at Scandinavia but thought the service at Aquarius was terrible.

All in all a beautiful island with picture perfect views everywhere you go! I most definately will be back.

We booked these apartments, specifically the new Anassa Suite, for our honeymoon. Absolutely delighted with the accommodation however, very disappointed with the lack of flexibility for our 16 month old which is probably an oversight on our part.

This hotel is perfect for adult couples to get away from it all although I didn't rate the bar staff (excluding Bill who is fabulous). The owner was very friendly with our son but it certainly isn't a place for children.

On arrival were greeted with a free drink and that set the tone for two weeks. The hotel/apts only have about 25 rooms so you get to know the other guests and there is a very friendly atmosphere. The staff are all very good at their jobs and very friendly.

The owners have spent a fortune renovating the pool area whoch is stunning with an infinity pool overlooking the beach, great pool furniture, lovely bar and even a couple of cream sofas to laze on. The rooms are more than adequate but you can upgrade to a few suites if you contact the hotel.
It is right on the beach and a five minute walk into the village centre. The village has about 40 tavernas/restaurants and most of them are quality. On a night try Aquarius which was the best, during the day try Milo's beach bar right on the beach bloody great!
The island is stunning.See as much of it as you can.

The whole resort is lovely and peaceful with a few livelier places on a night.Being a parent whose kids were once young I would say Scala is not the best place to rake kids, but if you#re looking for a relaxing time in a lovely place then Go For It !

We have just returned from a wonderful stay at the Anassa Hotel in Skala.

It was our third visit to Skala but the first time we have stayed in the Anassa. This is a brand new beautiful hotel, where the staff are so helpful and friendly and cannot do enough for you. The rooms are very nice with aircon and we asked for a double bed and got it - result!! There is a fridge in the room (unusual for hotels)and we had a balcony with sea views over Skala Beach.

We ate most of the time at Aeolos Restaurant, which is next to the hotel, which is excellent. Christos and his team are so attentive and professional and the food was of an extremely high standard. We went to the Greek Night, which was good fun and worth the 20 euros each which we paid. The other restaurant which we liked for breakfast was The Pines. They also do excellent ice cream sundaes, which are not for the faint hearted!

We love Skala and its relaxed and laid back atmosphere. The beach is lovely and uncrowded in June, enabling you to have your own ";little spot"; if you wish. We spent most of our time by the hotel pool, which was very nice and quiet. Skala is not really a place for kids - mainly a couples place, as is the Anassa Hotel.

The weather was just right - 28C to 32C all week.

Our only criticism of the Anassa is the breakfast, which we only had twice. It is the same every day - cornflakes, toast, madeira cake, coffee and orange juice. We paid for breakfast at Aeolos Restaurant next door and The Pines to get some variety.

We hope to return to Skala very soon - I hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

An excellent hotel which has recently been completely refurbished. We booked this hotel a couple of weeks before departure bed and breakfast, without seeing any reviews as it wasn't in the 2004 brochure.

The hotel location was superp. Oposite the beach, and a five minute walk along the front to the town. Lovely swimming pool, and plenty of loungers for the guests.

The rooms were a good size, with a nice bathroom with hairdryers, safe and air conditioning provided. The 'sea view' balcony was actually on the side of the building, although you could see the sea if you leaned over the side of the balcony!

The owners and staff at the hotel were very friendly, and the cocktails at the bar fantastic! Breakfast was continental buffet style, available until 10.30.

We would highly recommend this hotel...for more information and pictures the hotel's website is www anassa gr

These were very nice clean apartments joined onto the anassa Hotel just across the road from the beach. The apartments were cleaned every day with new linen twice per week. The beach was lovely, very clean and loads of space, however it shelves very quickly so may not be suitable for families with small children. You will also need your jelly shoes as lots of pebbles.

We found the resort of Skala to be just what we wanted, no burger bars or chip shops! Just lots of nice greek restaurants, we would recommend Aeolos next to the Nine Muses Hotel, and the Grill, but you might have to que. Also Veto's Deli does greak sandwiches etc to take away from lunch. We had two poor meals these were at La Luna and The Garden Noufuro Restaurants.

All in all had a great time, we had a couple of days of freak heat, almost 40 degrees and a small earthquake, which we slept through.
