The beaches are just outside Kos Town the main one at Tingaki or Psaldi. Both are in walking distance 3km and 1km respectively or by bus. Most people use cycles but we wa;lked.

Tingaki is a lovely place up at the top side of the island, it is renowned for having the best beaches and not far from them, there are alway somewhere to drink if it gets too hot. The weather is always lovely from june to early october. There are numerous shops up and down the roads including restaurants, clothes, supermarkets, car rental, gift shops and tourist/exchange services. A bus service is available to kos town but a car may be rented to travel aswell.

We did hire a Suzuki jeep for a day for 40 euro which was really worth while. We explored locally and drove to Kardemena which is more English oriented and suprisingly 30% more expensive than Koss town for most things. We returned to the hotel for lunch then drove to Keffolos at the other end of the island. The small mountain range which runs up the island is well worth a drive to, as stunning views of the island are breathtaking. Trips to Bodram Turkey are easily and cheaply available from the harbour at 30 euro each, on the hydrofoil, the boats are slightly cheaper. The trip to Niciros, the volcano island, is a fantastic day out, with the village having some history, and a very new museum of Greek artifacts, this cost 20 euro each. The hotel represented excellent value, with a very freindly service, in a quiet location. If you want to relax with good food, reasonable drinks, in a quiet location, with a good bar, with staff that genuinely enjoy helping you and a chilled but entertaining evening atmosphere just book the Gaia garden hotel now. Advice:Lambi is a quiet location close to Koss Town. There are bike, car hire, and beach type shops here. Activities:Turkey, Niciros, and a drive around the island. Mountains offer spectacular views of the island.

"Esperides Hotel"

The hotel's relaxing atmosphere is especially suited to couples and its setting is absolutely gorgeous, with eight buildings surrounded by scented pines and silver olive trees. Situated against a lush green backdrop of beachside woodland, it has a real 'away-from-it-all' feeling. In terms of your own personal space, bedrooms are smartly kitted out in chocolate and cream tones. Expect cosy armchairs, big beds with padded headboards and modern light fittings. And the trimmings are just as up-to-date. Satellite TVs, air-conditioning and mini-fridges all come as standard - as do balconies or terraces.

Mastichari review

"Great, relaxing place"

Within the first few days we were totally relaxed, the beach is a 5 minute walk (if not less) and the harbor is a lovely place to be, great fresh food, lovely people, in all honesty I have never been anywhere so friendly, everybody is so helpful.

Cos is around a 20 minute taxi ride away, which isn't too bad (20 euros), again it has lovely food and places to see, but i wouldn't go there every day due to mastichari being so nice.

The beach at Mastichari is lovely and clean, it was also quiet, with no kids running around which i was surprised at for the time of year, the views are breathtaking and the weather was gorgeous, although I did burn quite badly!

where to begin?... there are a choice of eateries, cafes and bars, traditional and modern, shops that sell clothes and authentic greek ornaments and pieces. there is a lot of history to be learnt about kos and there are several tours that are interesting and a good fun day out. I visited zia, a village up a mountain, n watched the sun set, absolutely breathe taking scenery all around kos. Transport is very good, regular buses to other towns in greece, you can hire cars, mopeds jeeps, buggies. The beaches around kos vary from shingle to the most gorgeous soft white sand found at paradise beach. There you can find a range of watersports n beach loungers. get there by boat for a fun day out or drive yourself. The nightlife in kos is busy and fun, it is what you make it i suppose, there are a couple of clubs, loads of bars that stay open until the late a.m. The bahamas hotel offers lots of entertainment in particular the greek evening which is so much fun!!

Kardamena review

Amazing, everything we wanted (group of 17 year old girls). Beware of trusting the locals-we were conned into going to a particular supermarket (a long walk away) because we were assured it was 'the cheapest in kardamena' when we later realised it was a rip off and the guy's friend owned it. Lots of competition between guys in the restaurants-they all try to persuade you to come in so find the cheapest deals! The guys in the restaurants got very touchy in the day if you didnt buy lunch/drinks from them so they can earn your trust if you go to them every day and they'll give you the best deals.

the resort is very clean, beaches are beautiful and clean...very highly recomended for family, couples, a little quie for the party animals, however kardamena is approx 15 mins in a taxi and costs about £20 between 4 is cheap enough. The choice of food is excellent and staff at most places are very friendly. Average cost of a meal plus drinks for the evening for my family was £40 ish
