Our second stay at the Kris Mari and compared with other places we have stayed in Europe this hotel is really good. All the staff without exception were always friendly and helpful. The rooms are adequate for the needs of most people and were regularly cleaned and towels/bedding changed. Many of the balconies offered lovely views. We spoke with a lot of returning holiday makers who had been here before. The pool and Snackbar was run by George who was more than patient with some of the hooligans who were intent on taking over the pool area. (Well done George). The last time we were there it mainly catered for families and couples but like many European resorts it seems to be overun with 18-30s who do not know how to behave with or without alcohol. It appears after listening to some local folk that the tour operators are at fault for allowing large gangs to dominate their profit margins. Many of the reps can be blamed for the drunken pub crawls that occur on a regular basis and the tour operators need to be aware of the damage they are causing to the relationship between us and the very warm & welcoming Greek people. Kardamena is a bustling part of Kos where there is something for everyone. We met so many nice people out there not forgetting the 3 Julies from the North East. All in all an excellent holiday marred by a few idiots from here. VW

this was our third year in a row staying at the krismari, the hotel was very busy with lots of groups of boys/girls which the hote didnt like, the breakfast was basic but generous the room is cleaned very often and the reception staff were great , the a/c was not very good especially as it was 35+ , one bit of advice dont make noise at night or you will be very told off.

The Krismari is a nice hotel that is a short distance from the nightlife in Kardamena but far enough away to get a good nights sleep. The breaksfast included is quite good for Greece but you have to be up by 9.30 if you want it which doesn't happen very often for younger people! The rooms are clean and the bathroom is basic but its what you expect really. The only downside to the hotel is that they are quite strict about you not having your own drinks at the pool area and then charging 1.80 euros for a can of coke but I don't think that is unusual.

two weeks in the krismari was great under new owners( cleopatra hotels) no major changes, all the older people moaned about the breakfast but it still was a good continental breakfast and you could have as much as you wanted, the staff were great especially reception but you couldnt fault any of them, there is a bit more of a relaxed approuch now and i would recommenend this hotel for all ages especially young couples looking forward to 2009 another visit.

we have stayed at the kris mari hotel in kardamena twice 2005 2006 it was a great hotel, very clean, good staff. breakfast was good.poolside snacks were also very nice.could not fault it.rooms are clean but bit dated.only two minutes from shops and beach.good pool.great choice of bars etc kardamena is a nice place great nice pleasent small harbour with bars, also good for days out on the boats realy cheap.the island of nissiros is a must weve been twice.ok for couples.we tried many bars but ended up in rumars bar most nights, drinks cheap but gets a bit dearer if you walk further away from the hotel near the main square were the young ones go.the little mini train is fun and cheap. kos is better plenty of restarants never had a bad meal.the day trip to turkey was o.k. but a warning its a lot hoter in turkey.so plenty of water.all the music goes off at 12.00 midnite apart from a few small clubs.so its not like san antonio in ibiza, been twice will probaly go another two times as well.day trip to kos town on the boat or bus is also great .

HOTEL - Great rooms, request a pool view and rooms next to eachother and your more than likely to get it. Rooms were good size, maid came and cleaned every morning about 11, so if your still hang over just dont open the door! Balconys were big also. We had no probs but some guys we met who were staying a few doors down had there air con leaking. Apart from that it was perfect.

Daytime - We had bed and breakfast, what a huge mistake that was, we only got up in time for breakfast once and when we did the thought of food made us sick (due to the night before), any 18-30's dont get bandb its a waste! Theres a snack bar where you can get good lunches by the pool and the beach is close, although 10mins up the road is a better beach.

NIGHTLIFE! - The hotel is a pefect distance from the bars and clubs, not too close but close enough. Would say we went to Status and Starlight clubs the most, as they were the place to be. And try a buddies bollock in Buddies bar on your way to the clubs, you get free shots of vodka jelly aswell!! There are so many bars to choose from, your spolit for choice.

Getting to and from the airport was fine, the coach was clean and air conditioned. On arrival the hotel receptionist was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was a un edable, but we didn't really expect any different.
The pool was a very good size and there were plenty of sun loungers. The rooms were very clean and were cleaned every day.
Kardamena was amazing, the food and drinks were very reasonable and there was always plenty to do.

However...
2 nights before we left one of our friends had a medical emergency. He had drunk too much in his room that night and passed out. When we found him, nobody in the hotel seemed bothered. The receptionist wouldn't phone for help and just told us to stop making noise and go to bed.
Finally our rep arrived (at 3am) and told us that the island only had one ambulance that didn't come out for 'drink' related inncidents.
We had to phone a cab. The hotel staff told us we were making too much noise and the next day threatened to lock us in our rooms until our coach came to pick us up.

Bearing in mind that we didn't break anything, vandlise their property, cause any mayhem - all we needed was them to help us that one night - it was a bit harsh to say the least. They wouldn't even let us use the phones!

Kos and Kardamena are great places and we had soooooo much fun! Just becareful young boys and girls that you have a good time but don't drink too much!!! There's no-one to help you when you do!!! We didn't see one police officer the whole week - to be honest, there was no need, no trouble what-so-ever.

If you want to save money and not get shafted then read on. We have sub-categorised our review.
1. Hotel

3* Lobby and Pool, but rooms do not meet the 3* standard. ( The Agiri Hotel is aesthetically better from the outside, but we cannot comment as we only walked passed it ). The Location is very good, as it is placed at the beginning of the street where all the bars are. Rooms have not been updated since the 1970s as the decor, bed radio and telephone illustrates my point. Despite having a rusty shower head in our room (2nd Floor), it is one of the most powerful we have ever experience.

The Air Conditioning worked effectively and so too did the balcony light. Hotel staff helpful but did not come across friendly. For 3* ( comparing to previous experiences in 3* accom. ) we would expect a small fridge and towels to be changed EVERY day , not on every second day. We would also like to mention that the hotel cleaners threw away our mosquito pellets ( thinking they were empty) much to our annoyance. We only suffered 1 bite each out in Kos. Rooms are carpeted??! and not tiled so dont spill anything or get sick or you'll never be able to clean it up or get rid of unpleasant smells.

2. Excusions/Tour Reps/Transport Rental
Do NOT book any excusions with your rep. They can all be found down the town cheaper. A saving of between 10 - 15 Euros can be made on each excusion, so if you only do 2 or 3, you can do the math on the savings you'll make. This also goes with car hire. Kia Sportage Jeep - 59Euro per day ( and this was the most expensive vehicle to hire, and for 40 quid between 2-4 people... bargain!) compaired to Rep's Major Car rental firms which will charge you 113Euro +.

3. Bars and Restaurants

Bar 1960 - Garage/R and B - repectible crowd
Stone Roses Bar ( and The Jam ) - Indie and Rock - always packed.
Chilli Peppers Bar - Ali G lookalike serving behind the bar.
Taboo - on the beach front - Potent cocktails ( Liquid Cocaine, Cheeky Vimto, Pint Of Power )
Funky Worm - on beach front - good atmosphere - avoid Funky Worm cocktail. Yuk!
Boat House - 2 cocktails for 5Euro + 2 free shots each. Cheap!
Cocktail and Dreams - Strongest cocktails on the island at 2.50Euro each.
Symposium - Best restuarant in Kardamena, (well bias opinion as we didn't try any others) - the food is FANTASTIC there, and the owner Christos is very nice and friendly.
There are 3 main complex clubs there, but our taste is more for cosy clubs.
Mad Club - The ONLY rock and Indie club there, loved it!
Underground - small, but cheesy music heaven.

4. Other Resorts
Kefalos - Quiet, mainly suited for couples, out on a romantic holiday.
Kos Town - Touristy, as in sites to see, plus a small water park there.
Paradise Beach - Beautiful
Nissyros - Active Volcano, small cultural greek town/community. A recommended day out.

Enjoy yourself if you're going there, we certainly dispite a few minor hotel dissapointments, dont let that put you off, just be aware of it. Whooopahh !

3Rd year running back here.
3 star hotel now decidedely 2 star.
Foyer, bar and lounge area all still very good. Pool, pool bar area good. Even put out new sunbeds the day we arrived - very smart. Rooms now very much past there best.
We had 3 adjoining rooms overlooking the pool as requested - any other view not worth having. Decor needs sprucing up.

Bathrooms poor now - mouldy tiles, rusty shower heads shower curtain rails falling off the wall etc. You will hear many guests banging doors. This is because doors don't fit properly and are hard to close. Room 122 door has been slammed so many times the frame is parting company with the wall. Staff are excellent and all remember you from previous years. Good location but spoilt by lack of maintenance.
Having been 3 times I think we have now done Kos to death.

Kardamena has definetly gone down hill. Too many bars and restaurants chasing too few customers (tourism apparently down 40-50%).Far too many PR's or as we like to call them chukerinners and all too aggressive. The best restaurants and bars don't use them they get all their customers from recommends. Avli now too expensive, cramped and uncomfortable. Aramis still good. Emo's is better.
Dont let this report put you off.

Everbody says its still one of the better hotel here. Just could be so much better with a little maintainance.

Just got back from Kris Mari and thought I would tell all. At the first glance I was not impressed with this hotel, there were a few problems with the room which got sorted out straight away. It does need a bit of a paint and new sunbeds but compared to the other hotels in the resort I would give this 10 out of 10.

The beach was not what I expected as in the brochure, the rep actually said the picture in the brochure was not of the resort beach but one further up the coast, the resort beach was non existant. We knew that the prom was being done up for this summer but we did not expect a building site (pictures to prove it were taken.) We did not stay in Kardemena in the day as there was nothing to do and we found it dirty

We hireda car for 3 days and headed towards Kos Town, very clean and well impressed. A bit disappointed in the castle, we thought that all the pedistals and architecture looked clean until we went round the corner and found a load of cement in bags, they were making fals ones and puting them round the castle saying that they had been there thousands of years. They do say you can buy alot of fakes over there but I did not think that the castle has fakes also.

When you go over to Bodrum , do not book with your rep. book on the prom front of Kos town it will only cost you £20.00 each. very good day out

Bubble beach and Paradise beach was not what we expected I would not have called it Paradise.

Go over to the Island of Nissoris to see the volcano, very impressive, the views from Mandraki Harbour are spectacular. Dont bother going up to the Monastry unless you are religious, it is 110 steps high and very small inside.

I was glad that we only went to Kardemena for 1 week as 2 would have been so boring.

Also the electrics went off every night at 9.30pm but this was not to bad as we did not have to look round the resort as it was so dirty. The impression I got of the resort of everyone was false

If I was to go to Kos again I would stay at Kos TOwn not Kardemena
