"Perfect holiday"
Overall Resort Rating:
The location was beautiful and there were loads of things to do. The prices were reasonable and the food in the restaurants was very delicious. I cannot wait for our return trip there.

"Kos Town"
Overall Resort Rating:
Kos Town is lovely. The beach is really nice, lovely colour sea. The town itself has some fantastic restaurants and lots of good shops, brought back some great clothes. There are some good ruins too over the other side of the island, worth making the effort to go to.

"lambi and Kos Town"
Overall Resort Rating:
Lambi has plenty of bars and resteraunts near by but far better is Kos Town its self.Only 20 min walk or short bus ride away it has everything. The harbour area is beautiful with all the boats ready to take you to Turkey or the 3 island tour.We went on the 3 island tour.It cost 20 euro including lunch,Thomson were charging 46 euro.We went on a couple of train tours around the town, great for videoing the area. There are lots of bars and resteraunts around the harbour and in the back streets. The food is lovely and the waiters and locals very friendly. The shops in the old town were graet, lots of gift shops and the leather goods were of good quality and much cheeper than home.

"Far enough away from the noise of Kos"
Overall Resort Rating:
There are plently of places to hire bicycles from and since we were last in Kos in 2008, a cycle track has been added, running from Lambi all the way into Kos Town. It's a very popular cycle track given the large amount of Dutch tourists. To hire 2 bikes for 7 days was 30 euros. What a bargin. Cycling into Kos from Lambi took us 10 mins. We ate in Lambi & Kos & the best place we ate at was Mikes Tavern in Lambi. As you face the mini shopping centre at the crossroads, you walk (or cycle) left until you come to a tavern smothered in flowers, herbs & bushes. It's like sitting in someone's garden. If you have the grilled snapper, Mike will happily remove the cooked fish from the bone, at your table. One place I wouldn't eat at again was Socraties, near the dolphin roundabout in Kos Town. They water the red wine down! Tingaki beach is about 8 km from Lambi & is a lovely bike ride, mainly along the wide coast road.

"Something for everyone"
Overall Resort Rating:
TOWN CENTRE - Kos Town is a resort built out of an old town, there is a harbour area and lots of restaurants based around a harbour, we didn't eat at any of these as they didn't look as nice as the ones further into the town centre. There are a couple of old squares and several little old streets with plenty of little shops to explore and some lovely little restaurants (Although one to avoid is Zorba's - worst service ever, we waited around 45 minutes from first asking before we got our bill on the 4th time of asking). There are also loads of archeological sites dotted all around the town, including the large castle and the Asklepeon (the worlds first hospital), get the little blue train to here as it is a little way out of the town.
BEACH - we went to the Lambi area for the beach (although we stayed at the other end of Kos Town) as the beach nearer us was all shingle, Lambi's is sand and shingle. The beach has sunbeds which are all attached to various beach bars, they are free to use but obviously the expectation is that you then use the beach bar - we used the Baltic Beach Bar which was aimed more at Dutch holidaymakers but very welcoming to all. It was only 1 Euro for a chilled bottle of water (with waiter service) so getting a few of these throughout the day still makes this much cheaper than paying 8-15 Euros per day for sunbeds at other resorts, we also had snacks a couple of days and these were very nice and quite cheap. There was watersports nearby if you wanted, but we didn't use them.
EXCURSIONS - We did 3 excursions: Zia by night - by coach up a mountain to a small village which had several tavernas and lots of little shops, we had about 3 hours in Zia during which we witnessed a very nice sunset and had a very nice meal, but other than the change of scenery and the sunset it was no different to going into Kos Town for a meal so you may be disappointed if you are expecting more. Nissyros (volcano) - This is an active volcano on a nearby island. We went by coach to Kardamena then by boat to Nissyros, there we visited a small harbour town and had some lunch before going up into the crater of the volcano (tip - take some decent shoes, the guide told us tales of plastic flip flops melting due to the heat, walking sandals and trainers did the job for us), the volcano smells of rotten eggs due to the sulphur and if you have breathing or walking difficulties you probably won't be able to go into the crater itself. We then visted a small mountaintop village which was like something off a postcard, there were amazing views of the volcano from here too. It's well worth taking this trip. 3 Islands boat trip - This went off from the harbour to the 3 islands of Pserimos, Plati and Kalymnos. We got about an hour in Pserimos (wonderful beach with a few tavernas) and Kalymnos (small harbour village with a few tavernas) and at Plati (deserted island with a little church) we had a bbq on the boat. It made a really nice change to the beach although we noticed the trip was much cheaper if you bought your tickets at the harbour as opposed to through your tour rep (although not guaranteed an English speaking guide). Roger - our guide was excellent throughout.
