We would recommend this Hotel this is our first visit to Kos, but our third visit to a Grecotel Group Hotel.
Grecotel have got it right the service is first class, so friendly anything you want you get we have had the most relaxing 2 week holiday.
Firstly, the Hotel is in the small resort of Marmari and would have to say that it is in a rural location, if you feel you can drag yourself away from the all inclusive the nearest taverna is a good 15 min walk away.
We had seaview rooms which were white washed rooms had the facilities we needed but probably not the best rooms we have had with Grecotel.
The All Inclusive is until 1.30am, you are given a card not a horrible wristband, the Hotel get to know who you are very quickly so never ask to see the card after the first day.
The food is excellent the choice is fantastic. You have the main dining room for Breakfast/lunch and dinner. Lunch can also be taken at the beach bar. If you want a'la'carte you can have this at the beach bar in the evening which I would recommend fully for a change this is free of charge.
The beach is excellent free beds and unmbrellas. There are two pools a quiet one by the Hotel or a larger pool by the beach where they hold actvities. The Hotel is mainly of mixed nationalities and very few English people but thats the way we prefer it. The Hotel have an animation team that lay on daytime activities which part of our family enjoyed. Probably the only downfall is the evening entertainment the animation lay on family shows/disco until 10pm. They bring in outside entertainment probably only 3 nights a week.
All in all we had a great time, as mentioned this was our third visit to a Grecotel we tried another hotel group last year and it was awful, so next year its back to a Grecotel for us.

My husband and myself have just returned from a 2-week holiday. The holiday we booked was for a 4 star All Inclusive at the Giakalis Apartments in Marmari, Kos.
We travelled from Birmingham on 28th July 2007 arriving in resort at 5am on the Sunday morning. Having checked in at reception, we were directed to our room, which we had to find using my lighter, as the lighting within the apartment block was very limited.
Breakfast, the most important meal of the day was our first taste of food at the hotel. This consisted of hard-boiled eggs, which we had for 10 days, the other 3 days we had eggs and bacon if we were lucky enough to get some before it ran out!
Lunchtime wasn't much better. After the first day, we found alternate places to eat out for lunch. For evening meal there was a choice of either pork, pork or on the odd occasion, chicken.
The restaurant within the hotel wasn't an enjoyable place to eat with the amount of flies. This is to be expected in hot countries abroad but there were no control measures in place to reduce this. The only time the air conditioning was put on in the restaurant was when the owner came in to have his evening meal!
From the descriptions we read about the hotel we were led to believe that all snacks and drinks including unlimited beer, wine, gin, vodka, whisky, brandy as well as non-alcoholic drinks were all inclusive. In fact, this was not the case. The only drinks that were available all-inclusive was ouzo, beer, wine and soft drinks, Snacks and other drinks had to be paid for.
The descriptions also stated that all rooms were air-conditioned. This wasn't true. As you can probably appreciate, the temperatures are very high during the months of July and August and this left me and my husband feeling very uncomfortable during the night when we were supposed to enjoying a good nights rest.
Although we were all inclusive, we did take money with us to enjoy the sights of Greece. We were fortunate but for some unfortunate families who didn't take money, they had to suffer this hotel, atmosphere and food for 2 weeks as all-inclusive usually means not having to pay for anything within the complex.
This hotel was not all-inclusive and we feel we were sold this holiday under false pretences as this was NOT a 3/4 star rating as described, we feel maybe a 1/2 star would be a more reasonable rating.
We look forward to the same two weeks every year to enjoy a holiday, which we work hard to pay for. This is the first time we have ever arrived home feeling very disappointed and glad to be back.

We stayed for 2 weeks at Giakalis Hotel on all inclusive basis at the end of June beginning of July 2007. The rooms were clean and spacious. Hot water was in abundance and the bed linen and towels were in good condition. The staff were very friendly. The swimmng pool is lovely and the gardens kept in excellent condition. Unfortunately, the hotel is in the middle of nowhere. Marmari resort in quite new and therefore there are not many tavernas around.
The food at the hotel was was consistantly referred to as 'slop' definately not 4* more like 2*. Either melon or oranges were the only desserts every day. We only ate at the hotel on three occasions during our 14 day stay. During the day there were no snacks available and any ice cream had to be paid for. There were no diet soft drinks. The only local spirit catered for on 'all inclusive' was ouzo. The towels and bed linen were only changed twice a week and complaining was to no avail.
Misleadingly, there are only five rooms with air conditioning at the hotel at a charge of 7 euros a night. We pre-booked a room with air conditioning and had to complain to get changed to an air conditioned room when one became available, which was a few days into our holiday. The hiring of a car is a necessity and it cost us 160 euros for 7 days - shop around for a good price! Kos is a lovely island and we would visit again but would not stay at the Giakalis!!
Apartment large and airy and clean - very nice. Grounds immaculate and pool area excellent.
Very remote - 25 minutes walk to Marmari along the beach and not worth visiting. Otherwise Tangaki or Kos Town both brilliant.

Food absolutely appalling the worst ever experienced anywhere. Cooked breakfast every other day (if lucky) eggs, bacon, sausage, baked beans (if they didn't run out). Other food minimal choice and edible because of hunger.
No spirits included in all inclusive. Coffee only available at breakfast. Very petty in their attitude to ";ai"; All inclusive run out on day of departure which was a bit unlucky as we left at 01.30 am the following day!
Reception very helpful. Girl behind bar never stopped and was always smiling and helful. Others not so and owners didn't even acknowledge you.
If they sorted the all inclusive out and provided some entertainment it would be a spectacular venue even though remote. As it is, I am afraid we wouldn't recommend it.
These all inclusive apartments are in the middle of nowhere. The apartments need upgrading. The pool area is nice and well kept. Towels are only changed twice a week.

The food is the worst I have ever had on an all inclusive holiday. The choice of food was very poor. Petty rules e.g. ice cream is only allowed for children and children are only allowed one ice cream per day, butter is only provided at breakfast although bread was provided at lunch and dinner time so you had to eat it dry unless you took some extra butter at breakfast time. A cooked breakfast was not provided every morning (this was a special treat!). We ended up going into Tingaki to eat as did many other guests we spoke to. There is a huge notice in the dining room informing guests that all inclusive food and drink is only until 12 noon on day of departure regardless of what time you arrived.
There was no entertainment and no atmosphere in the evenings. The reception staff were exceptionally nice and helpful as was the barmaid who worked during the day. The owners of these family run apartments didn't acknowledge or speak to us. The music played by the barman at night was totally inappropriate for the guests (mostly couples and young families).
I would not recommend these apartments and will definitely not be returning.

Overall i enjoyed the holiday aprt from a few things
now this hotel has only been all incluisve for three weeks the food was not bad but got boring after a while
they would only allow butter/margatine for breakfast nothing for lunch and dinner
drinks included where tea coffee pop (coke fanta orange and lemon sprite soda tonic beer house wine and ouzo) everything else you paid for although half way through the week thy decided you could only have coffe and tea free at lunch and coffe break at 4!! after a few complaints they changed it!
the food as i say boring did make me ill once!
the hotel itself lovley! rooms are good size and view great, however sheets and towls only changes twice a week!!
there is no entertainment! only thing they have is a cd player at bar which played thing in my opinion nopt suitable for the young children there!
at the hotel there is internet acsess, pool, tennis and mini golf however you have to pay for all of these!!
All in all i rate this holiday 6/10 you have to travel around 15mins just to get into kos town for something to do!

This is a club style resort hotel. It is located on the beach and ten minutes level walk to Marmari in a quiet part of the island. The area has little activity outside of the hotels but was very safe. Airport transfer is quick (30 minutes) and the hotel is professionally managed with an air of efficiency.
It is all inclusive and we all found the standard of food and beverages to be well above average. Themed nights were regularly held and there are two seperate restaurants serving Greek and Italian food and included in the all inclusive package.
We stayed for two weeks and my family found the variety of activities and entertainment to be of a good standard.
The resort is operated by an Austrian company and is part of the Thomson (Tui)group. The mix was Austrian (50%), Dutch, Belgium and British. The Austrians were very friendly and were keen to mix.
The club has a sports theme with a wind surfing school and mountain bike centre again operated to a high standard. In addition tennis was coached daily and a grass football court (floodlit) was regularly used.
An evening programme featured with a show six nights out of seven with the themed dance shows the highlight. After this concluded a variety of activities continued often with life music and the entertainment team keen to see everyone up dancing. An indoor disco operated until 2pm when the bar closed for the night.
Daytime saw an engaging activity team providing aerobics classes and sports/game events. Frankly I was exausted for them.
The kids club was well organised and set in a well equiped building.
A local bus service operates from the front door of the hotel to Kos town (30 minute journey).
Overall a really good holiday which kept my three lively children happy and busy.

The aparments and pool are all you need, clean and well maintained. The staff are excellent,Lisa,Anastacia and Billy really made the effort to get to know the holidaymakers and made us really welcome. We met some great people out there,Gaz,Alex and Gabby(Fulham fans)and the Scouse girls with Kieran. You helped make our hols guys so Thanks. Its true what people say about insects there but the smell mentioned by people on here was not that bad really. The salt flats are worth a look and the nearest beach is ok but make sure you dont go too far or you will find fat German nudists!
All in all Aslanis is probably not a place I would go again but that is down to location and not the place itself. The beer is cheap(ish) and the food is ok if a bit limited for choice. There is a TV room with English tv,pool table and table tennis.A nice touch was the books that were available for people to borrow with no charge.I recommend Aslanis as I nice place to relax and the Espiros restaurant is well nice (at the island in Tingaki turn right and its 100 yards on left facing beach) Ask for Stematis who is the owners son and a great bloke.
I hope I have not gone on too long but wanted to give an honest review about the place. Thanks to staff at Aslanis - you were great!!

This resort is alrite but not for young children as the best bars and restraunts are at least 25 - 30 mins walk from the apartments. I would recomment this resort only to those whop like to walk or will happily hire a car or quad bike - which in mamari there are lots of hire centres.
the beach is a good 25 - 30 mins walk but is worth it and for the naturists amoung you there is a nudist part along the right side of the beach. The bars are good and i dont think you will find that you will miss any of the football , cricket or any sports as most of the the bars have english TV !! The games room at the hotel is good with working TV and a pool table and the swimming pool is lovely and cool- perfect after hours of sunbathing just to jump in and cool down!!! There are two convenience stores just round the corner not far from the beach. There is a salt lake which some of you people called a swamp!!!
for the teenagers there is a good Go-Karting track round the corner and it has and internet cafe!!
i have been twice and will certainly go again!!!
thanks for reading and i hope you enjoy the aslanis apartments as much as i did!!
DAN xx

Cannot praise this place highly enough. Nothing about the hotel to complain about. Brilliant if you want a quiet and relaxed holiday, as it is about 15 mins walk to the small resort of Marmari.
Food was so excellent, and caters for oddballs like myself, who have a low fat vegetarian diet. But also caters wonderfully for my normal eating husband, who is still raving on about the choice at mealtimes.
Please, please take notice of this one point though, don't fall into the same trap as we did. By all means attend the welcome meeting with the Thomson rep, BUT DO NOT BOOK ANY THOMSONS EXCURSIONS!!!!! Just tell the rep you will get back to them that evening or whatever, take the 15 minute stroll into Marmari, and look at the tours being run by the local companies, in particular, Tingaki tours. They all pick up at the hotel, and do exactly the same tours, but at half the price. The coaches are just as good, and the commentaries are in English. We rushed in and paid the rep at the welcome meeting, and an hour later found the identical tours in Marmari, and we had spent in total on two tours, 98 EUROS more than we could have done.
Don't know about you, but that is a lot of money to us!!!! So be warned!!!
