"Aristo Aparthotel review"
Overall Hotel Rating:
The Aristo apts are really nice - clean, spacious (we had a one bedroomed apt for 5)with a nice sized pool set in lovely gardens BUT they are set in the middle of nowhere!
There is literally NOTHING in Psalidi. The closest Taverna is just down the hill from the apartments ('Nikos and Kontessa' - great food and staff thank God!)then it's a good 10-15 minutes walk to the next Taverna ('White Castle' - also great and has a bar with pool tables, sat T.V. etc).
There is a regular bus service to Kos town but you are packed in like sardines -bit stressful with 2 young children late at night.
The beach at Psalidi is pebble and not particularly pleasant - apart from the bits right by the big hotels it is backed by scrubland with disused buildings and rusting barbed wire fences - felt like a war movie!
There was a small water park in Psalidi but the rep recommended not to go there as they'd had a few cases of people hurting themselves on the slides - we walked round that way and discovered it had been closed down anyway!
On a brighter note - the new Lido Water Park in Mastahari is well worth a visit - we went with Olympic and had a brilliant day.BACK TO THE ARISTO.......
As I said, these apartments are lovely but it's their location that lets them down. They could do with a bit more entertainment (only one Karaoke night in the two weeks we were there) and a pool table might give the teenagers something to do in the evenings.
If you're happy to laze round the pool all day before joining the scrum for the bus to Kos town then you'll probably enjoy this holiday.
If you like to alternate beach and pool and have a leisurely stroll in the evening with a good choice of bars and restaurants (as we do!) then you probably won't!

"Aristo Aparthotel review"
Overall Hotel Rating:
This was our first holiday to Kos and we wanted a resort which had the best of both worlds; near to town but not so near that we couldn't sleep at night....and that's what we got!!
The accommodation was pleasantly clean and spacious (although we did have one of the two bedroomed apts). The studios are fairly small however no different to other studios in other Greek resorts/islands. The accommodation was cleaned most days; weekends appeared to be the maids time off, which you can understand considering the accommodation has only approx 40+ rooms in total so the staff numbers aren't huge. The facilities in the two bedroomed apt included two seperate rooms (one can be used as a lounge area or twin bedded room), a kitchenette and a bathroom. The kitchenette facilities consisted of a sink, three cupboards, drawers with cutlery (including tin opener), two ring cooker, fridge with freezer box and a shelf with some glasses, pots and crockery on (sufficient for the our needs). In hindsight we should have been prepared and took a teatowel and washing up liquid (as you would expect) but we did manage to purchase these at a nearby shop!! There is no kettle however there is a small pan which we used to boil water although it did take a while! None of these small issues were ones you wouldn't expect on a holiday in Greece!!
I would say that although we were pleased with the accommodation, having looked at the cost of the holiday in the brochure I don't think its worth paying full price. If you have the option I would reccommend you book a last minute holiday as you can save hundreds. We booked three weeks before we went and booked day flights and a two bedroomed apt for 2 adults and 1 child for £607 in total!!!
The staff at the accommodation were lovely and very friendly; David and Aris were very a great laugh.
The pool was lovely and was cleaned every day, although you did have to be careful going down the steps as the suntan lotion did make them slippy as the day went on! There is also a small childrens pool, a play area for small children and table tennis facilities.
There is a bar next to the pool, which provides alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages and bar snacks including burgers, breakfasts, salad, chips, omlettes and icecreams, however if you are arriving late at the accommodation there are not any facilites for late evening (ie. 10pm onward arrivals) catering facilities. There is a nice restaurant at the end of the drive; Nikos Gardens which is worth a try as it does cater for both greek and english dishes, but i'm not sure what time they serve to.
The only slight downside to the accommodation is that the driveway up to the accommodation is steep. Although we didn't find this a problem, as we are used to walking, and glad of the exercise after the food we had consumed, I would not reccommend the accommodation to anyone with walking difficulties.
The resort of Psiladi is not really a resort in itself but a main road on the outskirts of Kos Town (approx 3 miles away) and it has numerous shops and restaurants to try. Although this may appear to be quite a distance its not really because as you walk along the path you are directly next to the coast and with the scenery across to Turkey you almost forget the miles you've walked! In addition there is the option to hire cars or cycles (as there is a cycle path into Kos town)or get the bus into town (theres a bus stop at the bottom of the drive at the apartments). We hired cycles for most of the two week stay and as the cyclepath to Kos was flat all the way it was an enjoyment rather than a chore. If none of these options are suitable then I wouldn't reccommend staying in Psiladi.
The beaches are pebble beaches rather than sandy ones as this is the same in Kos town. The nearest sandy beach is Tigaki; and it is gorgeous, although this about 8 miles away so you will need transport to get there!
As I've mentioned previously there are numerous bars, restaurants and shops so you won't be short on choice! There are also a number of cycle/car hire places so you won't struggle there either. We hired our bikes from the cycle hire shop at the bottom of the driveway. I can't remember what is was called but its just two buildings down on the left handside.
If you do hire a car then i would reccommend booking direct for most of the tour excursions as you will save quite a bit. In addition the waterpark excursion is approx 15 minutes walk away from the Aristo apts and you really do get ripped off by booking it through the tour operators. The waterpark is ok and our daughter certainly enjoyed herself there although its not on the same level as some waterparks in places such as Aiya Napa in Cyprus. We did book a lazyday cruise for the day, which we enjoyed. It consisted of a cruise to three islands in total and a barbecue on the rocks whilst you had the opportunity to swim in the water whilst the boat was moored. The greek night was a good night out and one which i would reccommend booking through the tour operator as the coach transfers are included and needed with all of the alcohol thats available to you within the cost of the trip!!! Safe to say my daughter was slightly embarrassed by the amount I had consumed; i was merry to say the least!!!
The weather was unbelievably hot; so remember to cover up well if you go anytime between june and September!!
All in all we had a brilliant holiday and if you go there we hope you do too!!!

We were pleasantly surprised with the Aristo Apartments. The apartments were clean but basic. They were cleaned everyday and the maid was very pleasant. We found all the staff very poliite and wanting to make sure we had a great holiday. The pool is of a good size and there are plenty of sunbeds within the pool area.
The location is up a slight hill, which can be hard work on a very hot day. At the bottom of the hill there is a bike hire shop, owned by a pleasant local. I would recommend you hire a cycle as the road to Kos Town is very flat and there is a cycle path direct into the main town. You can catch a bus, but they get very busy late at night on the return journey and they squeeze as many people as possible on, so the journey is not too pleasant. You can only buy a one-way ticket which cost 1.30 euro. If you buy tickets at the main bus office in town they only cost 90 cents each.
We recommend the Taverna Nikos and Kontessa, which is on the right hand side of the hill as you go down to the main road. All the staff are really friendly, the food is excellent and cheap. We went there at least 8 time during our two week holiday. At the height of the season you are better going into town early evening and then returning to the Taverna later in the evening to eat, as its more comfortable at that time of day to eat.
Overall we had a great holiday. Just be careful if you suffer from ear infections when using the pool, as the heat makes this more likely in the high summer, if you swim underwater. At the time we were there at least 8 people developed ear infections (including us).We would certainly be happy to return to Kos and the Aristo, as we were made to feel welcome. There was one party night at the hotel, which was a lot of fun and ended around 1am. Also attend the Greek night at Taverna Fantasia if you get the chance, as you will really enjoy it.

The Aristo apartments are fantastic. We couldn't fault anything during our stay. The staff were very friendly, the rooms were cleaned thoroughly daily!
The pool bar served a variety of snacks which were at a resonalbe price. David and Janis (brothers) are very friendly and will get you drinking the "; famous pool water"; shots! VERY NICE!
";Simos"; Taverna in Psalidi(just at the bottom of the road) is a MUST-the food is fantastic and the staff are very friendly.
We visited Kos Town a few times as Psalidi only had a couple of tavernas. You can buy the bus tickets from reception for 90 cents per person each way which worked out cheaper than paying on the bus(upto 30% more). The last bus back from Kos Town is 11:30PM, or alternatively a taxi will cost 6 euros.
We didn't go to the beach there as apparently is was very rocky.
We spent alot of time at the ";Sports Cafe"; at Dolphin Roundabout. The staff are really nice.Manos, the owner will give you a discount booklet to get 20% off your next meal and free cocktails and beers. The food and drinks were a little more pricey there as the bar overlooks the harbour, but not that much more as we went back 5 times in the week were there!
I hope you enjoy your holiday as we did - it was fantastic.
