This was our seventh time in Nidri and although we were in the Oscar appartments we walked to the other end of the resort to use the beach and to sample the hospitality of Greg, his Wife Maria and Brother Panos who run the Delfini hotel.

The setting is great, with the restaurant right on the beach. The food is excellent and cheap as is the drink. I can especially recommend the anchovies, the big beans and the garlic mashed potatoes. The resort itself has to be negotiated with care as the pavements are very uneven or unexistant. There are plenty of Boat trips, car hire outlets and supermarkets. Greg at the Delfini can hire you a boat, Car or Scooter, whatever takes your fancy. Give it a try, you will not be disappointed!

Hi there

We had a great time on a wonderful island and are returning in September. Here's my version of the experience.

We booked with Golden Sun, as we have done quite a few times in the past, basically because it's very hard to touch them price wise. The only problem with Golden Sun is that there is virtually no Customer Service i.e. you can never get through, so if you have an enquiry about your booking, it can be frustrating but as I say, budget tour operator = budget service...... Not a problem for me as I was very pleased with the hotel and flight and I considered them to be good value for money (needless to say I'm not one for attending the inflated excursion selling meetings (welcome meeting).

So, a very early flight out from Manchester but hey, it means an extra full day on Lefkada. Having started our journey to the airport at 2.00am and not getting any sleep on the flight (due to childish excitement) we landed, collected our bags, boarded the coach and waited in trepidation. The rep was her usual monotone self, full of enthusiasm and energy. Arrived at the Delfini and the rooms were not ready (by the way, this is not a ploy, it is merely that the guests leaving the hotel and the guests arriving are very close together therefore causing a delay in some rooms being cleaned). So we left our suitcases in the bar and strolled down to VICS BAR for a cool Mythos served in an Ice Cold glass from the freezer.

After a few more in Vic's we returned to the hotel, unpacked and began the holiday

Lefkada is a lovely island and still very much unspoilt, the food is of a very high quality for Greece with my favourite restaurant being the International down by the harbour. Definitely hire a car or scooter and explore the whole island, there's so much to see and you won't be sorry.

I must mention VICS BAR and this really made the holiday unforgettable for us,

Location

At the North end of the main road, situated between a Taverna and a Greek shop with some amazing hand made products. Can't really miss it and it also has SKY (should you want to catch up with the news or watch the footy results) however, the TV is positioned in the back of the bar so it doesn't interfere with the music, conversation etc

Atmosphere

A wide range of background music from the Beatles to Oasis is played, basically it caters for all ages. Carol and Vic go out of their way to make you feel at home and seem to have endless time to chat with everybody without it affecting the customer service. Also both are a great source for unbiased information about the island/excursions (the sort you don't get from your rep). Also don't miss Vic's quiz nights, I know that sounds cheesy but they really are a lot of fun and everybody in the bar gets into the atmosphere..... I have no idea what the prizes are and to be honest, nobody cares as everybody is genuinely enjoying themselves so much.........

Prices/Drinks

I guarantee that you will not find a better cocktail on the whole of the island (please take notice of the health warning drinks. They do contain very large measures), the quality and effort that goes into them reminds me of a skilled potter at his wheel. Pricewise, certainly couldn't complain, a litre of cold draught Mythos was 2.5 Euros (about £1.70) and I didn't see any cheaper cocktails in the bars I visited (with the exception of nasty cocktails made from cheap unlabelled brands) but Vic's contain international brands e.g. Baileys, etc. Carol's breakfast for me, was a must to start the day.... Sorry, but I'm not yet convinced that a roll and some jam (hotel breakfast) is the future. The afternoon/evening meals offer an alternative from the harbour restaurants and are perfect for the times you feel peckish. (VIC AND CAROL HOPE I'VE NOT EMBARRASSED YOU TOO MUCH HERE)

I didn't really want to post a review of Lefkada on here as I don't want it converted to mass tourism I like it just the way it is but after 2 months I've decided it's would be too selfish to keep it to myself

Have fun and I'm sure you will

Ian

The hotel is on the beach with great views however, not all the rooms have this pleasure.
Delfini hotel is very well kept with a friendly atmosphere and is at the northern end of the resort, which is a quieter location, but still no more than 10 min walk to the centre of the main street.

The resort is made up in two parts; the harbour front is end to end with the traditional Greek food outlets (none that are outstanding but still very good value for money) and the main street has more bars to choice from but is a lot noisier than the harbour front

The holiday was on the cheap at only £155 per person and I would really like to return is it didn't disappoint.
Most see is the Waterfalls; hire some pushbikes (3euros), as it would take 2 hours to walk and take a few beer to enjoy the view once you get there.
