If you want to stay in a hotel that does not have hand towels or soap and where the bath towels and sheets are changed once a week and the bath-mat looks like it is one rescued from a skip then this is the place for you . If on top of that you want to pay 4...

Nidri is a busy resort mostly visited by the Italian's. The sea front bars are furnished in some beautiful designs and the atmosphre is very relaxing, the bars look out onto a very busy harbour front were there is plenty of people wandering about. Its so relaxing to just sit and watch every thing go by. Several boat trips which visit the surrounding islands and beaches are available and the boats are very modern and offer lots of creature comforts including water slides for those all important swim stops. if you fancy hiring a boat of your own then Pete's boat hire further down the sea front up towards the lagoon is the better option costing 60 euors plus disel which works out an exrtra 20 euros. Be careful with your timing if you book the boats on the main harbour front, as they have a tendancy of over booking and its first come first served and some times you wait a couple of days to get the boat you booked.

If you like sitting in a big squashy sofa, on the beach, sipping a cocktail, and watching the moonlight on the water, or having a beautiful meal in the open air, on the bustling harbour front, or even people watching with a coffee on the busy main street, with the greeks whizzing by on their mopeds, then Nidri is for you. With plenty to do and see, weather beautiful, not too hot, it is just perfect. The beach is a little shingly, but just stick a pair of flip-flops on and you'll be fine. Make sure you book a boat trip, there is one to suit every pocket, and the walk up to the waterfalls is hard work, but worth it when you get there. Favourite place had to CHRISTIANAS. on the beach front, with very friendly staff, beautiful food, especially the sea food salad, and a different special everyday. Would definately go again, we have arrived home feeling wonderfully refreshed and rested.

Nidri is extremely picturesque and has everything you could want within easy reach. There are some excellent restaurants - too many to choose from, catering for all tastes and wallets. Whilst we were there it was our anniversary and we wanted a "special" evening to celebrate. The Sea Side Restaurant/Bar at Genni (pronounced Yenni) was recommended by a rep. This is approx 15 mins taxi ride away from Nidri across the other side of Vlicho Bay. What a great night we had. The atmosphere of the restaurant is serene with a very comfortable seating area for pre or post dinner drinks overlooking the bay with chillout music playing in the background. The food was excellent with a number of the recipes being made by Kostas' Mum. The wine was excellent also - we chose the locally produced 'Land of Lefkas' which was equal to any of the excellent wines from around the world. Everyone is made to feel special by Kostas and his staff.

Best for a holiday in which your main aim is to sit on the beach or by the pool as there are no real tourist sites or attractions here.
