The Studios are very basic, but that is too be expected in Greece, they are family run and the owner 'Peter' is very friendly and helpful and will virtually accommodate any request for assistance.

Anaxos

Realistically it is 2hrs transfer from the smallest airport in the world, it is very Typically Greek, i.e. no shops only supermarkets, few bars and restaurants along the sea front - all hotels and apartments are generally no more than 10 minute walk to the beach/bars/restaurants, it was very clean and friendly. You can take the local bus service to virtually anywhere on the island for 1.20 Euro, beer is between 2 - 2.50 euro a pint, food is cheaper than most greek islands, e.g. 2 course meal with wine approx 30 Euro. Places to stay would be Anaxos Hotel or Plaza Palace.

Petra

You can wak to Petra along the coast line but it is quite rocky so not advisable for young kids, OAP's etc, although a stroll along the road way only takes about 15-20 minutes and is more pleasant scenically. Petra is a bit more upmarket and a bit busier, again very beach fronty, and little cobbled streets and shops.

Molyvos

We took the local bus here which took about 15 minutes, the views were absolutely breathtaking, we have travelled most of the world but have never seen such a lovely picturesque village it really is picture postcard and we fell in love with this resort instantly, it was quite hilly, but cars, etc can get along the cobbled streets and down to the harbour, etc, little bit more expensive but worth every penny.

All in all we had a great holiday and will certainly be returning at some point in the hope it remains uncommercialised which is the reason people go back there year after year. Taxi is 60 Euro from Airport, 5 Euro between resorts, Places to eat - Anaxos Hotel - Anaxos, Womens Co-operative - Petra, we never had a bad meal for the whole week and there is certainly enough to do for 2 weeks between all three resorts, if the beach is important stay in Anaxos, is bars/nightlife is important stay in Petra, if Scenery and shops are important stay in Molyvos. This Island is very popular with the older generation although this did not bother us as we had a really relaxing time with no 'Rowdy' 18 - 30's.

This was our second trip to Anaxos in 2 years and the resort is exactly as you would expect of a quiet Greek resort - friendly and relaxed. There are plenty of Tavernas to choose from and we did not experience a bad meal either trip. The better restaurants seem to be at the Petra end of the beach, and the restaurants on the front offer lovely sea views and sunsets if you eat early enough. The beach is clean, and in May almost deserted!

Petra and Molyvos are both worth a visit for a more lively atmosphere, although Molyvos is exceptionally hilly. This does mean fantastic views if you can make it up the narrow streets.

Last year we stayed at Christina's Gardens, and were so impressed we booked again for this year, but Kosmar changed us to the Poseidon at the last minute. I wish we had foregone the deposit, as the studios were not ready for us, and had been closed for 4 years prior to our arrival. The room was dirty and not cleaned properly in a fortnight. The bathroom in particular was cause for concern, due to the damp and mould found behind the toilet bowl. The linen was only changed once, and the baby's not at all - we had to ask for clean linen for her cot. The general grime pervaded the whole complex and our balcony was actually subsiding, with loose masonry on one pillar. None of the windows or doors fitted properly, and the balcony door appeared to have been forced. The fridge was rusty inside and out and electrics ropey looking to say the least. To add insult to injury, the view we had was straight into another apartment belonging to Plaza Palace (which looked lovely I might add!).

I would advise anybody who has been changed from Christina's or Eleftheria not to accept Poseidon as a like for like alternative if offered by Kosmar. It is not comparable and had it not been for the fact that Anaxos is such a lovely little resort, we would have been devastated!

I would throughly recommend Anaxos if you are looking for a quiet resort. It's ideal to watch the world go by, try the local food, relax by the sea, and top up on your tan. The beach at Anaxos was beautiful much better than at Petra or Molyvos. Two sunbeds cost 5 euros all day. You don't feel under pressure to purchase drinks etc either. Just left to enjoy the day.

Our apartments were basic but comfortable. I do recommend taking the rooms with air-conditioning if you can, charge was 42 euros for the week, but worth it. Also make sure you have plenty of insect repellant to keep the mosquitoes at bay! We kept our room until 15.30pm on the day we left, as check out is 11am, and coach pick up wasn't until 16.00pm, this was 15 euros, again worthwhile.

Kosmar have previously had problems with their reps, but the new chap 'Dean' was lovely, down to earth and honest. Sure he will be able to turn it around!

We tried a couple of restaurants but preferred 'Seaside' located on the beach - Charlie and Jimbo work hard, but seemed to pay attention to detail. If you are a fish lover, ideal place to try 'catch of the day'. Tip if you prefer fish fillet this will most likely be frozen, unless they agree to de-bone for you, which Charlie did for us.

Anaxos doesn't really have any shops, so we went to Petra and Molyvos - don't forget to barter to bring the price down. Buses (more coaches really)run on a regular basis, but you need to remember the Greeks have their siesta between 2pm - 5pm, so some shops will close, and the bus service is limited between these times.

Overall we had a fantastic chilled out holiday and got exactly what we wanted, a stress free break, and time to recharge the batteries. I will definitely go again.

Lesbos was a beautiful island, the people were very friendly. The food excellent, a very quiet place, lots of room on the beach, sand/shingle.

We have stayed in the Greek Islands before and have always been please with the standard of cleanliness. Not so with the Posiden, the room was not cleaned each day, the sheets were not changed during the week, towels changed once but they were of very poor quality (thin holed and frayed around the edges). We had a permenant leak in the bathroom, with a bucket catching the leak. When we left noticed a large selection of dead insects under each bed! Also blankets on spare bed dirty, luckily we didn't need to use it.

We had some fantastic greek food at the ";Einai";, overlooking the beach. Friendly staff at Ari's supermarket, very helpful.

Woud definately return to Lesbos, but not to the Posiden at Anaxos.
