"Aeolian Village Hotel review"
Overall Hotel Rating:
We travelled to Lesbos in Sept 06 the Aeolian village is great if you just want to get away for a holiday to completely chill out as there is not that much to do in the resort of Skala Erresos itself, to be fair the first choice brochure does recommend car hire with this hotel which i think is a fair point if we had stayed for 2 weeks would definately have done this.
We went for a week and apart from having a walk around the town (it is very little but lush bakers)stayed in the hotel. There really are terapins next to the hotel and we also fed them (sneak some bread from breakfast) well they ate from our hands what an experience also never seen so many fish either they come up more or less to your hands too (just walk down the side of the bridge).
For those with weakish stomachs i think it is worth mentioning that the hotel is about 2 hours transfer (well was for us anyway) and 1 hour of this is up and down mountains not anything so easy as round them, i wasnt expecting this and to be honest another reason why i didnt really want to venture out too much all credit to the coach drivers though i really dont know how they manage but is a bit rollercoaster ish.
The accomodation was very good we received an upgraded room which was great so had a big terrace and living area which the little one slept in and decent sized separate bedroom. The staff were faultess i have never seen cleaners constantly on the go anywhere else! Pool cleaned every day (though not heated but fine once you've braved it and got in)and everyone so friendly where its not a massive hotel you do feel a little bit of a personal touch with staff recognising you etc.Food was very good the only thing repetitive was breakfast but there was still lots of choice, vegetarian choice also very good. The kids club was great the staff fantastic with the kids my little one loved the mini disco and is still doing all the actions and very proud of the t shirt she designed. The hotel is very international but we thought this was a good thing and was not a problem in any way. Weather was an average of 26c.
All in all we had a really great time came home feeling really chilled out and the only thing that would put us off of returning is the transfer.

Lovely pretty area.
However hotel was huge let down. there were flies everywhere, and i mean everywhere. at meal times they were all over the salad, you couldnt pour a drink with out gaining about 10 fruit flies it was hideous.
The resort has huge potential but its not kept to a high standard. it felt dirty.
If you go here you will have to hire a car as there is absolutely NOTHING to do. the roads are dangerous but little traffic so if you take it steady youll be fine.
dont get me wrong its a nice island but we couldnt wait to get home.
oh and our resort rep from first choice was disgraceful, so unhelpful.
I think we had a particually dissapointing holiday due to the fact we paid a lot of money for all inclusive, but we were the last flight out and back for the season, so everyone was tired and all the bars had closed. most staff couldnt wait to get rid of us! not what we paid for!!
Go around august and im sure youll have a fab time

A beautiful island which remains very unspoilt. If you want a lively holiday this is not the place for you.
We had a fantastic time at this hotel staying in a family room in one of the seperate apartments, which had 2 single beds pushed together for us in the bedroom and 2 camp style beds for the kids in the living room.
The food was good and whilst we we longed for something different after 2 weeks (purely personal)we couldnt fault the choice/amount and freshness of it all.
The staff are very friendly and the entertainment crew whilst being for the german/belgian and dutch tourists did their best to get everyone involved. That said, if you wanted a quiet holiday you weren't pushed into anything.
With 2 young children abroad for the first time we were worried that they may get bored - how wrong we were. Our 6 year old jumped in the pool when we got there and got out 14 days later, whilst our younger girl paddled/swam and played in the playground!!! The pool is well designed with a barrier come walkway surrounding the deeper pool for adults so your kids will be safe.
We went on the island tour which was worth the money (about £70 I think for us all) but didnt go on the trip to Turkey as it would have been a very long day.
All in all a great place which we thoroughly recommend.
