Like everywhere esle these days it is very expensive. We took 500 euros for a week and ended up having to take out another 100 euros. We did no trips, it was purely on eating out. Neither of us were excessive drinkers. It is a beautiful island and well worth the visit, especially some of the walks. Would I go back again - no - but I would go back to Kefalonia.

We have just returned from the Maravelias studios (Kosmar) and you certainly pay for what you get! The rooms are tired, nowhere to put your clothes, the bins are emptied once a week!! The location is good, but if you want to be awoken at 7.30 most morning...

We have just returned from the Maravelias studios (Kosmar) and you certainly pay for what you get! The rooms are tired, nowhere to put your clothes, the bins are emptied once a week!! The location is good, but if you want to be awoken at 7.30 most mornings by the cathedral bell then good for you! You never see the lady who owns it. The crossing to Symi is 2 hours. There were ants in the bathroom. We were lucky to get a balcony but you have to get on well with your neighbours, which luckily we did. You are charged 7 euros a day for the air conditioning. No kettle, bottle opener and the electric burners are placed on the sink! The shower you have to hold, nowhere to put it. I would not recommend this place at all. The Kosmar rep, Sue, appears to have no customer care skills - she could do with going on a course. She appears to be abrupt and rude. Rhodes airport is a nightmare with it being over 1 hour to check in. Air Malta is like flying with RyanAir or Jet 2. You pay over the odds for food and drink. We had a bargain but still it appears expensive for what you get. Symi was a beautiful island but Kosmar's tours were very expensive. Don't get me wrong we had a wonderful time but would not go back there again.

We stayed for two weeks in July 2008 and really liked the town. The location of the hotel was quite good and relatively quiet however the hotel itself felt shabby and generally had the feel of a lack of maintenance. We were B & B and the room was small, without a fridge and quite dirty due to a lack of regular cleaning. The maids seemed to spend most of the morning eating the breakfasts meant for us but as it was rubbish anyway they may have done us a favour. On one complete day there was no water although the villa directly accross was watering the garden and we had to resort to taking water from the pool to flush the toilets. On another occasion we asked for a replacement light bulb for the bedroom and Christos had to take one from his room to give to us. The fridge was broken in the bar and although we didn't use it we could see that a fair proportion of the pool seats were also broken.

We booked our holiday directly with the hotel and arranged our own travel as a part of our Honeymoon. This is a lovely island for couples on a romantic get away. The Island has good beaches but transport is essential to reach the less busy ones. For thoses who like history; especialy religous history; then Hora the old town on the hill with its castle and monastery is a must.

These apartments are located in a beautiful hill side location and are furnished and cleaned to a very high standard. The pool area is very pleasant with fabulous views. Breakfast is very good with lots of fresh fruit, breads, cheese and meats. The hotel does not do eveing meals contrary to its web site information. The location is quite isolated, so we would recommend renting a car or scooter which can be organised through the owner. The nearest town, Skala is approximately 3 to 4 km, but there is a nice little village with a few taverna's 2km away.

The service staff were fabulous friendly and helpful and very hard working.

Unfortunately we cannot say the same about the owner. On our arrival he was friendly and said he would make our stay pleasurable and gave us completmentary fruit Fabulous we thought. From then on it was a different story. On day one I reported various faults around our appartment which required attention. One of the faults was very important, as it was a safety issue with an exposed electrical fitting. A couple of items were addressed, but the owner ignored all of the others including the safety issue. The television did not work all week This we were not to worried about, but others may have found this unacceptable.

The staff normaly present in the mornings. After that you are on your own and the owner is not easy to track down.

To finish our wonderful stay, the credit card machine was faulty after approximately an hour and many transactions and refunds latter we concluded. Unfortunately on our return to the UK checked my credit statement to fing that the refunds we exchanged at different rates leaving us 156euro's out of pocket. I tried to isssue this with the owner as the problem was caused by his credit machine and his bankers. After several weeks this did not get resolved through the owner and I had to reslove this through a banking dispute service.

In conclusion: This is a very nice hotel with lovely service staff, let down by poor management. The owner says he will do something but in reality does nothing and is not prepared to accept anyone else's view but his own. Dissapointing end.

We loved Paxos! It was a great tiny traditional Greek island! We stayed in Lakka, which had a beautiful harbour, about 15 tavernas of all types and friendly Greek people.

We flew to Corfu and took a hydrofoil to Paxos (approx 1 hour). You can see Corfu from the island (particularly if you stay in Lakka).

The beaches are unfortunately pebble, with only two being sand (one tiny beach at Lakka, and one at Mongonissi). The sea water is turquoise in colour and the beaches are not crowded.

We hired a car to view the island for 2 days, but you only need it for 1 day really due to the size of the island. We hired a boat for a day and went around the entire island which was great fun, we saw the blue caves and travelled to Anti Paxos which was fab and would recommend to all!

There isn't a great deal to see on the island, the odd old windmill ruins etc, but other than this it is great to visit the other beaches, the blue caves and Anti Paxos. Gaios (Paxos Town) was nice to visit and to admire all of the yachts. Loggos is a tiny little village with a few tavernas and a small beach, and Lakka (where we stayed) was beautiful, quiet and recommended to all! It had 15 tavernas, several mini markets, some trendy bars etc. There are 2 beaches at Lakka, one pebble and one tiny sandy beach. A lot of people stopped in Lakka harbour who were on yachting holidays, which was great for people watching! There was a mix of English, Greeks, Italians, Americans etc visiting the island which was nice. The island isn't overcrowded and you can always find a quite beach or a quite place to go.

We would recommend the traditional Greek traverna in Lakka called Alexandros, which is in the back streets, not on the harbour. It was well priced and great traditional Greek food run by a lovely Greek family. But, to be honest all of the tavernas served great food and had friendly staff.

There are new modern villas creeping up all over the island which look beautiful, in addition to plush hotels and simple apartments - tastes to suit all!

At about 1-2pm everyday there is a slight breeze which is nice, and we had a couple of days which were overcast in the morning.

If you're looking for a party island, Paxos isn't for you! But if you're looking to relax, in a quiet traditional Greek resort Paxos is for you!

We stayed in the Amfitriti Hotel Apartments in July 2008. It is in the lovely resort of Lakka, which is every beautiful and quite.

The hotel is situated on its own, overlooking its own beach and the village of Lakka in the distance. We couldn't fault the location.

The hotel has three main blocks, which are set back from each other. The majority of the rooms have a view out to the sea (some views are blocked by olive trees, but still beautiful) and their own balcony. However, there are some rooms with no view or balcony which are inland - hot, awful and depressing!

The rooms are large in size, have a TV and kitchenette facilities (well a sink, pans, two cooking rings and a cups/plates/glasses/crockery, a fridge etc). We were fine with these basic appliances, but the Bastas Hotel offers their guests real kitchen appliances.

The bathrooms do not have shower curtains, and they are cleanish! The towels and bed linen provided smelt like a wet dog - obviously not washed at high temps or not dried properly! This is changed twice a week, which is great, but would be better if the towels were clean and not 20 years old! The floor of the room was never mopped, and I never smelt any cleaning products being used. I bought some detol and cleaned the apartment myself! We went to the Bastas Hotel for a look and the cleaners were cleaning the rooms really thoroughly and I could smell cleaning products - seemed a cleaner hotel!

The toilet bins and rubbish bags are collected every day which is good.

The hotel is a family establishment. The owners don't tend to speak to you, their daughter Nancy meets you on your arrival and walks you from Lakka to the hotel (a bus can't take you due to the location), which is a nice walk. Nancy (blonde hair) also works behind the poolbar and is damn miserable - all the people staying at the same time as us got the same impression - she hates the quests! We kept away from her! There is another daughter (dark hair) which does all the hotel admin and allocated rooms, she was always polite. Nancy's son (about 15 years old and very friendly) and the owner managed the sunbeds on the beach, which are 6 euro for two beds.

The hotel is a 5 minute walk to Lakka and is a great walk. The hotel is an uphill walk from the beach, so don't go if you're not OK with walking up hills.

There is a pool at the hotel which we never used but looked nice and sunbeds are free.

Overall, beautiful location, but needs a bit of TLC!

we stayed here in august 2008 with Kosmar (first time with them and are booking our next holiday with) Babis and Georgia who owned the apartments were very welcoming and were constantly cleaning the pool. The apartments were basic but always very clean with fresh towels and linen daily. Although the apartment was basic the balcony we had was huge overlooking Parga Town with constant sunshine till 8ish. would recommend this apartment and would stay here again on our next trip to Parga.

We cannot praise these friendly, family run apartments highly enough. Situated right on Kalogria beach, the apartments are maintained to a very high standard. The busy taverna/restuarant attached to the apartments offer good quality traditional greek cuisine at very reasonable prices. Although some of the apartments are directly above the restuarant there is no noise disturbance at all. Kalogria has everything for people wanting a beach holiday but is also a good central base for exploring the Mani peninsula. Is suitable for all ages. Holidaymakers return year after year.

The Stoupa Hotel is spotlessly clean, and the maid came every day and cleaned the room, made the beds, and emptied the bins which is unusual for Greece. Yannis runs the hotel for his father and is your typical Greek person who is friendly, polite and enjoys a chat and a laugh. We stayed B/B which consisted of fresh bread, ham, turkey, cheese, fruit, cereals, jams, honey, yoghurt, tea, coffee and juice, which sets yoyu up for the day, bar prices are reasonable , but can be found cheaper in the resort. All in all a pleasant stay and will definitly go back

Finikounda hits all the right notes if you want to get back to traditional Greek hospitality. Never heard of it - neither had we, but it's a gem. A throw back to the Greece of years ago, before it became too commercial. If you have been to Tolon, Finikounda is very similar, with one main street where the restaurants and bars spill onto the beach. No sunbeds on the town beach apart from the Newsagents who has about 5 sets of beds and brollys for 7 euros for 2 beds and a brolly and the restaurant next door which provides them free, although they are what people have left behind and tend to be a bit dodgy, but what do you want for nothing? If you don't mind a 20 min. walk try the Paradise Beach Bar - free sunbeds and umbrellas, good selection of food and beers. There is another taverna/snack bar on the same beach which also provides free sunbeds. Finikounda is not place for lively teenagers, but great for couples and families who just want to chill out and enjoy traditional Greek hospitality.

A 5 min. stroll to the resort centre and town beach. Basic, but spotless and w
