We had the most brilliant holiday in Parga, although was end of season,we still found lots to do, some trips were still running and the local sea taxi's wou7ld still do trips providing enough people went. The food was brilliant, we ate in the hotel, also out, the many restaurants all served excellent food and a great friendly service. The people were so friendly the locals were all very helpful it is certainly a destination we shall return. On retuning home we knew we had had a holiday guess that sums it up!

Agios is an inspoilt Greek fishing village and as such will not appeal to anyone wanting a vibrant night life or typical beach activities. The only beach is half a mile along the coast (there is a rocky swimming cove) or you can visit the next village which is more tourist orientated. The local tavernas are good and "The Arches" is particularly good for evening meals. For walking, nature and scenery this is an excellent part of Greece. Much of the coastline both north and south is spectacular.

My wife, I and two friends stayed at the Akis Apartments during the last two weeks of September 2008. Although we booked over a year ago we had to pay under- occupancy on two three-bed rooms as there were not two two-bed rooms available. On arrival we were shown to two adjoining rooms on the top floor, one two-bedded and one three-bedded. Both rooms were spotless and fairly well equipped even though the plates were plastic. We settled in for our two week stay.
Our friends complained to the Thomas Cook rep that they were in a two-bed room and had paid under-occupancy for a three-bed room room. After a few days of negotiation a refund was paid for the first week, but not the second as they had been offered an alternative room on a lower floor.
A few evenings into our stay we arrived back at our rooms about 11 pm and left the outside light on to see our way next door in a few minutes time for a game of cards. There was a knock on the door, Dad was on the doorstep, and he leant in and turned the light off grunting something about not leaving lights on, then marched off.
A couple of days later my friends went to the pool to sit on the beds to sunbathe and read. They put the umbrella up to shield themselves from the sun. Whilst reading they were suddenly aware of someone shouting, it was young Akis (the owners son) shouting across the pool whilst striding towards them. In a very loud voice he said that they had to lower the umbrella. At the same time he lowered the umbrella himself, so low that my friend’s wife could not see her book. He shouted that the umbrella would end up in Paxos with the wind. There was not a breath of wind that day. My friends decided to sit on their balcony instead.
When we mentioned to local businessmen in the town, where we were staying, they all said that it was notorious that apartments were run like a regime. Stalag Akis was mentioned on two occasions.
To sum up, very clean nice apartments. Friendliness depends on how well you obey the rules.

Fantasic places to eat but keep away from the harbour front where its expensive, make the effort to go up into the old village where the food is excellent and very reasonable and you'll be guranteed a great night. Plenty of bars to sit and watch the world go by.
Not an Island for everyone more suited to couples or anyone looking for a relaxing holiday

Rooms are basic, but very clean, maid service every day, with sheets and towels every 2nd day. Outlook from apartments are not the best, they have air con at 7 euros per day. Michelle who runs the place is excellent, nothing is to much trouble.
Would recommend these apartments for a really relaxing time.
not very inspiring unless you like plenty of walking. however; a quiet island with adequate beaches. 3 main villages are ok but not much to see. Fiskado or Assos on Cefalonia much nicer, more upmarket and varied.

went with simply travel; sept 2008. as with previous review for Milos villa next door, location beautiful. however; this villa is poorly equipped, very dirty, all owners possessions left in villa, 30 years worth of junk. maid service only 23 minutes per weeek. pool leaked, not clean and very dangerous for children. car not checked or cleaned or our licences. local agent also owner of villa and car hire company. simply travel rep based on corfu. weather very cold, much rain and very little to do when weather bad. our advice; do not go here to this villa it is really awful.

See above re mosquitoes.

Excellent apartments with fantastic views over the town and bay. Very clean and well equipped. Full cooker - very unusual for Greece. Also a hairdryer in the bathroom. TV and dvd player in living area. Lots of wardrobe and drawer space. Pool was small so wouldn't be much good for lots of children but fortunately our daughter was the only child staying there at the time. About 10/15 minutes from the harbour and town area and about 5 from Valtos beach, although it could take longer returning as it was then uphill all the way. The price we paid for the view!
Two small supermarkets close by which were fine for bread, milk and basics but the bigger ones were at least 15 minutes away.
No problems with mosquitoes at the apartment but did get bitten when we were out at night so do take repellent and cream.
We would definitely return to these apartments and the resort.

We have just returned from the Rezi hotel and studios and I can say in all honesty that this is one of the best places/holidays we have ever had. I first saw the harbour of Parga in a photograph on a holiday brochure and as we had not long returned from Skiathos, thought that it looked very similar. I checked out what other holidaymakers had said about this place and liked what I read so I booked it. We had a studio which was very comfortable with two single beds, loads of hanging and drawer space, a two ring hob which did not get used! and a full sized fridge. The bathroom was big enough with a shower tray and curtain. There was also a hairdryer for use. We overlooked the pool and the balcony was big enought to take a table and two chairs. There was some clothes drying lines at the side of each balcony, big enough to take bathing costumes etc. There was however a very large tree just outside our balcony but this did not bother us too much as we only sat there in the morning, late afternoon and then again after an eveing out. The resort itself is fabulous. Bustling, busy with loads of places to eat and drink. The harbour area is so pretty, all little boats bobbing up and down and in the late evening, some of the bigger trip boats have lights going up their masts - it looks lovely. There is a little church on the island just adjacent to the harbour and a wedding was going on when we were there, talk about Mamma Mia!! I would not hesitate in recommending this resort and accommodation, which is made up of many nationalities, not just British, and is a very friendly place. I will almost certainly go back there, maybe not in the next year or so, but will definitely return. There were many places to eat, unfortunately I cannot remember all the places we did eat, but with the exception of a couple of restaurants, they were all very good. We used to stop off at a little coffee bar in the afternoon and again in the evening on our way back to the Rezi and this was called the Sol Coffee bar. They make the most wonderful drinks. Oh what I would give to be sitting there having a drink now! If anyone is thinking about booking a holiday to Parga, they will not be disappointed.

Stayed at the Theoxina August/September 2008.We booked through Kosmar and had a fabulous time (We were lucky, we got home a week before Kosmar went bust). The studios were clean and in a very good location. The brochure said the accom wasn't suitable for people with walking difficulties as it was on a hill.We were a bit dubious but were pleasantly surprised. The beach was on our doorstep. We had the top room at the front of the building (room 301) which had 2 balconies one which overlooked the beach and fabulous views. The side balcony overlooked the bar area but we rarely used this as the other was more private.I would recommend this property, however please note that the balconies are all very close to one another with only a low wall seperating each one.So if like us you didn't feel like mixing it would be very hard not to avoid all your fellow neighbours on their balconies. This was the only downside I would say about the studios.I would stay there again but would ask for room 301. Stoupa was great and we have booked for next year.We would have done the same holiday and theoxina if Kosmar hadn't folded. So we are trying Manos for next year. Will miss the Theoxina. If you get chance to stay there,do it you won't regret it...
