"Oniro Studios review"

Open quote

We have been to Naxos before a couple of years ago with Kosmar and would have happily gone with them again but they were sold out in Naxos so we booked through the web and flew to Mykonos and bought a ferry ticket on the boat Kosmar holidays used to get us to Naxos.

The town has enough to keep anyone interested for two weeks of eating out, with a real Greek flavour that is so hard to find now, in the more accesible islands. Nobody hustling you into eat at their taverna, never the feeling you are being ripped off.

Every meal we ate was a treat, whether in town or at beach tavernas.
Oniro Studios were found on the web and were a great place to stay - no pool - but great location in the middle of town - about three minutes to the main square and a slow 5 minute walk to the beach. Quite a few stairs, however, but that made the view from our balcony very special with the sea to one side and mountains to the other - across the rooftops. Georgia picked us up from the ferry and would have taken us back on the return leg if we had needed her to.

Rooms were cleaned every day - had free air conditioning and satelite TV (very useful during the world cup!) Tiny bathroom, but very clean and well tended.

The island itself is very special.
Not soley reliant on tourism, but with a thriving agricultural industry supplying nearby islands - particularly with potatoes. Lots of inland villages and the most gorgeous beaches - just miles and miles of them with practically no other people on them in most cases. Essential to hire transport to see the island properly. We hired a quad-bike and managed to clock up 400 kilometers in 10 days. Would return in a heartbeat and shall do - but the journey does make it a better island for a 2 week stay. May try the Athens route next time as sea very choppy back to Mykonos with sick bags handed out 5 minutes away from the port!!
