"paxos; villa isavros. magazia"

not very inspiring unless you like plenty of walking. however; a quiet island with adequate beaches. 3 main villages are ok but not much to see. Fiskado or Assos on Cefalonia much nicer, more upmarket and varied.

We loved Paxos! It was a great tiny traditional Greek island! We stayed in Lakka, which had a beautiful harbour, about 15 tavernas of all types and friendly Greek people.

We flew to Corfu and took a hydrofoil to Paxos (approx 1 hour). You can see Corfu from the island (particularly if you stay in Lakka).

The beaches are unfortunately pebble, with only two being sand (one tiny beach at Lakka, and one at Mongonissi). The sea water is turquoise in colour and the beaches are not crowded.

We hired a car to view the island for 2 days, but you only need it for 1 day really due to the size of the island. We hired a boat for a day and went around the entire island which was great fun, we saw the blue caves and travelled to Anti Paxos which was fab and would recommend to all!

There isn't a great deal to see on the island, the odd old windmill ruins etc, but other than this it is great to visit the other beaches, the blue caves and Anti Paxos. Gaios (Paxos Town) was nice to visit and to admire all of the yachts. Loggos is a tiny little village with a few tavernas and a small beach, and Lakka (where we stayed) was beautiful, quiet and recommended to all! It had 15 tavernas, several mini markets, some trendy bars etc. There are 2 beaches at Lakka, one pebble and one tiny sandy beach. A lot of people stopped in Lakka harbour who were on yachting holidays, which was great for people watching! There was a mix of English, Greeks, Italians, Americans etc visiting the island which was nice. The island isn't overcrowded and you can always find a quite beach or a quite place to go.

We would recommend the traditional Greek traverna in Lakka called Alexandros, which is in the back streets, not on the harbour. It was well priced and great traditional Greek food run by a lovely Greek family. But, to be honest all of the tavernas served great food and had friendly staff.

There are new modern villas creeping up all over the island which look beautiful, in addition to plush hotels and simple apartments - tastes to suit all!

At about 1-2pm everyday there is a slight breeze which is nice, and we had a couple of days which were overcast in the morning.

If you're looking for a party island, Paxos isn't for you! But if you're looking to relax, in a quiet traditional Greek resort Paxos is for you!

The hotel is situated on its own, overlooking its own beach and the village of Lakka in the distance. We couldn't fault...

We fell in love with Paxos. There are no high rise buildings and the lifestyle is laid back and relaxed. Lakka has a lovely seafront with all manner of boats coming and going.it is a very pretty place with two squares and lots of tavernas to choose from. It still remains very Greek. The people were lovely and we never had a bad meal or felt ripped off. It is a little bit more expensive than Corfu but that is probably because everything has to be shipped in. Take out a little motor boat for the day and find your own cove to have a picnic on. Or take the fishermans boat over to Anti Paxos where there is a gorgeous sandy beach and an excellent taverna. If you take the big tourist boat you will find yourself on another stony beach.Go across to Parga for the day on the ferry. It is well worth a visit. You can take the little tourist train up into the mountains, it's well worth it.There is a lovely sandy beach too. I suggest that you book your own trips because the reps trips are exactly the same, they just cost more. We loved little Loggos which you can get to very easily by bus but there isn't very much there. Gaios is also lovely and is the biggest of the towns but we definately preferred Lakka. If you want a change of beach go to the Bastas hotel at 11 0 clock and he will take you to his own beach in the mini bus for nothing. It is super there with acres of free sunbeds and parasols as well as a wonderful taverna. It's spotlessly clean, well worth a visit. All iall paxos is great and I would like to go back again one day.

Lakka in Paxos is Paradise, 2nd time we have been and we will return at least once a year every year, relaxing resort with nothing to do if thats what you want or plenty to do if thats your thing, beaches are wonderful with superb views, its only a tiny island with 3 main resorts Lakka, Loggos and the capital Giaos the even smaller and very beautiful antipaxos is easily reached by water taxi from the capital, eating out in Lakkais a joy but it may be difficult deciding where to eat as all the tavernas are equally good, our favourite thru' the day would have to be Harami beach taverna (Say Hello to Anna) a family run taverna with unbelievable food and the best Tzatsiki in the whole of Greece and in the evening it is impossible to pick a favourite, the prices are reasonable but slightly more than Corfu, ALL IN ALL WE WOULD NOT RECOMMEND PAXOS TO ANYNE AS WE WISH TO KEEP THE ISLAND ALL TO OURSELVES
