The history of draws visitors immediately to the warm waters of the Greek island of Rhodes. The warm climate - 340 days of sunshine a year, the scenic beauty and the pleasant evenings sat drinking cocktails in one of the many tavernas makes Rhodes a pleasurable place by day or evening. With the Euro at 0.81 to the Pound and a beer at 2 euros, it makes the Greek paradise a tempting alternative to the United Kingdom.

The hotel although named the Lindos Bay I need to be clear and say that it was not on the main Lindos bay but on Vlicha beach just a 5 min cab ride form Lindos (cost approx 7-10 euros)...do not attempt to walk as due to the long windy hill and scorching heat it would take an hour or more (no joke!) and you would pass out from the heat.Lindos bay bar closes at 2300 on the button, night life very low key.

Lindos is a very pretty resort suitable for couples. Its not expensive as others have said its just the same as if you ate out in the UK every night! We paid average 36-50 euros for a 2course meal with drinks. We had some lovely meals - Olympia (by St Pauls Bay) is very modern well presented food with a fabulous steak thats well worth 18euros. Acropolis which as it says has the best view of the acropolis on different roof terraces. Caesars and Ekleton did a great lunch and Yannis Bar, Melia, Mythos & cyprus taverna are great places to have a glass or 2 of retsina. If you want somewhere more lively, Antika cocktail bar - great music and a lovely roof terrace. We had 1 bad meal at Byzantinos/la terrace - its got the best view and the nicest decor but 20 mins to take our drinks order and another 20 for them to arrive with our starter, i had the wrong starter brought to me (are you sure you didnt order that? - yes pretty sure!) then i had the most unseasoned flavourless moussaka. The waiters had a row to which one continued this by reaching over the balcony at the other, and during this all around we heard complaints from others and glasses being smashed constantly - one definitely to avoid!!!! Between 11 and 3, Lindos village is chaos. you can get the donkey around the village for 5euros and you get a photo at the end! There are lots of souvenir shops, mini supermarkets and creperies. There are 3 lovely beaches but St Pauls Bay is by far the best - only 8euros for 2 sunbeds, parasol and table - the sunbeds are so comfy they are well worth the money! The water is crystal clear with little fish - ideal for snorkelling and from around 2pm the weddings start at the chapel so lovely to watch. they have a beach bar but we took our own drinks and snacks. It is down a steep hill so be prepared! There are a couple of taxi ranks on the way to the village and also a bus stop at the top of the hill at Krana square which takes you all over the island. Overall a lovely place i'll definitely be going back!!!!

Faliraki review

A pleasant surprise,, there were people of all ages in Faliraki, older couples , families with teens and small children. A few places We can really recommend to eat are firstly "The Greek Tavern". This is a little restaurant opposite Mikes English Pub, just off the main Rhodes/Lindos road by the traffic lights. If you like Greek food ( and we do) , you are in for a treat. the food is wonderful and a real feast! The owners, Peter and Christina are lovely and welcoming. The second restaurant is on the main Rhodes/Lindos road and is Greek/Italian and called "La Scala". Again food was wonderful. Another guest at the Rose said she had the best pizza ever there. The beaches of Faliraki are lovely, nice and clean. The island of Rhodes itself is beautiful. we loved Rhodes old town, though you need at least a couple of days to see most of it! Lindos is also a "must see", not only for "The Acropolis", but the lovely little Streets and houses. We hired a car for three days, and I think we covered most of the island. The signposting was a bit dodgy in places, but we got there in the end! Overall a good and enjoyable ( but expensive, thanks to £/euro exchange) holiday.

I found the resort boring. I didn't think there were that many places to eat the majority of food is fast food. Faliraki is more of a drinking holiday. The bars were rubbish and very expensive

Plenty to see and do and very lively. Plenty of taxis if you need one but we found that the local bus service was the cheapest mode of transport and takes you anywhere you want to go. Plenty of choice for eating out with some lovely restaurants.

Faliraki review

We went to Faliraki at the beginning-middle of September, so we expected it to not be as busy as you hear reports of, but we weren't expecting this! Every night we went out, the bars were nearly empty, same with the clubs. If you're looking for a party destination, I would advise going earlier in the season to avoid disappointment. Also for 2 days while we were there it rained nearly non-stop and thunderstormed, but I don't think that's typical September weather. The majority of other tourist we saw in Faliraki weren't younger people but middle-aged couples, usually German or Polish.

Having been to other typical young people's "party" destinations before (Magaluf and Playa de Las Americas) I thought Faliraki would be more of the same, i.e some cheap and tacky bars, cheap drinks, but some much nicer, more family-oriented areas as well. Nope. Faliraki is really, really, cheap. There are some shops but they mainly sell fake designer gear and souvenir-type things, and most of the restaurants are fast-food or cheap versions of traditional Greek dishes. If you're thinking of going to Faliraki to have a nice relaxing Greek holiday, don't. Go somewhere else instead. And if you're looking for a party atmosphere, Faliraki isn't the first place I'd recommend, especially in September as it is practically a ghost town!

Faliraki review

"Cheesy, but fun"

84%
of reviewers would recommend this
resort to a friend

Open quote

Faliraki is a cheesy resort based around nightlife, but that doesn't mean it's not a fun holiday if you don't want to do that stuff.

It's central, so you can get on a bus and go to Rhodes Town for a day to explore, or Lindos to see the Acropolis. There are companies that run excurions to Symi and boat trips, and the waterpark is a great day out and only a long walk or short bus ride away from the resort. The beach at Faliraki is also very pretty, clean and lovely to swim in.

There are very few nice places to eat - most offer "traditional" greek food, steak and chips, chicken and chips, gyros and chips etc but try Opera for traditional or Porto Bello (on the beach) for Italian.

The nightlife is where the fun can begin if you are willing to be touted into a bar with the offer of a 2 for 1 drink with your friend (and maybe a couple of shots thrown in for free if it is quiet) then you leave that bar and get touted into the next one. The different bars may all look the same but actually do cater for different tastes with regard to music and there are a few pub-like bars which show sport.

I had a great trip and would recommend it to young people, even if you are not a party animal you can still have a great holiday.

Nice resort, stay away from bar street if you are not into loud music and stick to club street where there are lots of restaurants and cocktail bars. There is a nudist beach in Faliraki. Average meal prices 9 euro for steak and chips, chicken and chips. Chicken doner about 5 euro, try Kostas in club street best chicken kebabs by far. Check out on the rocks bar 2 cocktails and long drinks for 5 euro, steve is friendly and welcoming and George, one of the nicest and funniest men you can meet. avoid kebab places in bar street, cold meat, not nice.

I loved the resort. The only place I would consider going back to the year after! The night life is great! Got some good clubs out there, and the bars too. George's bar is good fun, and if you're 18-30's, you'll be in there most nights. There are two Go-Kart tracks. I only went to one, but went there at least 3 days in a row. They throw water on the track so you can drift around, and get all slippy! Good fun. There's a fun fair, a slingshot bungee ball. And the beach is huge, and nice and sandy. There's watersports there too: ringos, flying fish, crazy sofa. Loads of stuff to do. You'll have a great time!

There isn't a huge amount outside the hotel, with the exception of some seedy cocktail bars and cheap Greek restaurants serving kebabs/pizza etc. There are quite a few shops selling little souvenirs and alcohol which is a good price. The beach area varys depending how far along you go, there is a bit of sand around the headland. If you're going to go up to Rhodes Town - do the excursion! It's not that expensive...We went by ourselves on the bus, which was cheaper, but an unpleasant journey. I don't mind a busy bus, but I was sat on the emergency exit stairwell of a coach (not a bus), it was very hot and people were constantly getting on and off, which would've been fine if all were sat in seats - but with people crammed into the gangway with nothing to even hold on to, the gettings on and off of the locals was hard work!! Rhodes Old Town is lovely - you'll need more time there than you anticipate!
