"Latino Bay Hotel review"
Overall Hotel Rating:
It is very difficult to be harsh about this hotel, purely because of the friendly staff, but no ammount of their hard work can alter my opinion of this place. The whole place is in desparate need of redecoration, the rooms are very dark and the bathrooms are the smallest I have ever seen(one person at a time). The paint was peeling off the walls and the sliding door to the bathroom was hanging off.
The cleaning staff are trying to get in at 8.30,and there are no do not disturb tags and if that isn't bad enough the noise from the road is almost constant. The food was apalling. For the first 4 days most of it was stone cold, then you start to realise that most of it is tarted up leftovers,we gave up even looking to see what was on offer and ate out. There are 3 a/c units in the dining room, they will never be on(cold food, hot guests). On a positive note the pool and sunbeds are lovely and the pool bar is run by the most sweetest and pleasant Greek girl, say hi to Anastasia if you stay.
Over all I was far from impressed,it could be a really good hotel but it needs some cash and someone with some vision.

Overall Hotel Rating:
The Latino bay is a very poor hotel, our room was very basic, and in need of quite a few repairs, The bathroom was a discgrace, and it was smelly too. I complained within 10 minutes of arrival, but the staff pretended that they couldn't understand English.
The food was a total disgrace, we couldn't eat the evening meal because the food was VERY poor. Next morning we went down for the full English breakfast...what a joke....frankfurter sausage, pheasant sausage???, cold boiled eggs, bits of bacon ( and I mean bits ) cold baked beans, and bread with 2 domestic toasters to make toast. We walked out of the restaurant, again without eating any food.
I complained to the Thomas Cook rep about the state of our room, and the quality of the food we were being offered...I asked to be moved to another hotel, or flown back home as this was place was the pits. We stayed another night in the Latino bay ( under duress ) and we were moved out by Thomas Cook the next day. In all we made 5 visits to the restaurant in the Latino bay ( evening meal, breakfast, dinner, evening meal, breakfast )and never ate a meal, infact we had to go out and buy food even though we were all inclusive.
This hotel is NOT geared up for English guests, it seems to cater for German guests. The best part of this holiday was the flight home, it was great to eat a decent meal, and all I can say to anyone from the UK who is going to the Latino bay is....be prepared to eat out, and complain about the state of the room.....marks out of 10...1/10...i've ben all around the world, and stayed in some pretty grotty places...but this took some beating...give it a wide berth, you won't regret it.

Overall Hotel Rating:
This is a hotel with two sides - if you are lucky enough to get a room at the back you will have a quiet time, unless you are on the ground floor where your view is a wall and you are in permanent darkness! if you get a room at the front you can forget sleeping for 2 weeks. The hotel is at the end of the resort, it has a main road leading into Rhodes town and has a large hotel next door where coaches are continually dropping off guests at all times of day and night. Lorries reverse and taxies are constant and when they stop the mopeds come out, then at 5.30 its time for the bin men!Best time to sleep between 5.45am and 7.30am when it starts all over again.
The food in restaurant (nicked named the works canteen)is shipped in from another hotel and is mainly frozen vegetables, tinned fruit and boiled eggs! Not what we had expected at all - Jamie Oliver could teach them a thing or two about FRESH vegetables and Fruit.
The management staff were disinterested and told us many people were complaining! We got a room change after a week which was slightly better but still constant traffic noise. They mentioned aircraft noise in the brochure but we hardly heard it at all, they should mention the traffic noise instead! The reception/bar/goofer man Costas and Pool barman Nickious were great and couldnt do enough for you. The pool was fabulous and definately the best thing about the place.
The rooms are in desperate need of decorating we had a large hole in the front door and the bathroom door was so heavy you couldnt shut it, also the lighting was poor , perhaps so you couldnt see how shabby it was!
The thompson rep was really good and tried her best all the time. She also said they were downgrading the hotel from a 4 star (ha ha) but we have checked this years brochure and its still a 4 star but £100 more!!! We had free vouchers to use at another hotel for massage, spa etc which we booked but on the day were told we couldnt go - no explanation given!Although this was all inclusive we ate out rather than eat frozen mixed veg for 2 weeks. there are some good restaurants in the main resort about 10 mins away and they were very friendly. Try the one run by the scottish lady married to greek man (knights something) food was excellent.
Took a boat trip to Lindos which was great, the walk up is not as bad as they say but becareful of the donkeys and the greeks having ";donkey rage"; on the way up! Rhodes town is stunning and worth a visit. The aqua park is a must one of the best we have ever been to.Enjoyed our holiday and would go to Rhodes again but no way would we stay at this hotel again!!

We only went to the Latino Bay because our first choice in Kos was unsuitable due to building work going on, maybe it would have been better just going to Kos after all.
The hotel was nice enough a bit on the small side of room size but very clean and the cleaners were in the rooms every day. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the pool was clean and well maintained, there was single divan beds used as sun loungers ( must be left over from a refit) but they were comfy. The restaurant was very nice and clean but the food was a bit of a let down and we ate out a few times. There was only one night a week with any entertainment on which was three girls singing it was ok, the rest of the time you had to find your own stuff to do at night and as this part of the island is very quiet there is not much to do. I would recommend this hotel if you are looking for somewhere that is dead to the rest of the world coz you will die of boredom before your two weeks are up. There was a lot of Dutch and Germans too who kept themselfs to their own groups
all in all not bad but not great.
