"Haraki Heaven"

Haraki is a very friendly and welcoming place and I can see why people return there year after year. It's safe, quiet cheap and very laid back. This was our second year and we have already booked to go back next year.

Overall
Second year in Haraki, first year at Stella, a bit dated and needs a bit of TLC. The room was not even cleaned properly when we arrived.

Haraki’s best kept secret………..the Zografos Restaurant.
Just a short walk from the village square, is a great Taverna, family run by Vassillis and Marietta. They specialise in traditional home cooked Greek cuisine but also offer a wide range of other dishes such as English, German, and Italian. Behind the scenes are 1st generation Nikos and Maria, who originally founded the business and still playing an active part and waiting on are 3rd generation Nikos and Sonja.
A friendlier welcome and more accommodating family would be difficult to find anywhere on the island. Whether it is couples, families or large groups, everyone is an important customer to this caring family.
A real plus is being able to dine out on holiday among the local Greek families and eat what the locals eat, not from a devised tourist menu.
All the traditional favourites can be found, Stiffado, Kleftico, Souvlaki, Mousaka and if you’re feeling really brave, test your appetite with either a Greek plate or mixed grill, they have to be seen to be believed! And to finish off, you can’t beat a carafe of house red Rhodian wine.

As a regular visitor to this resort I am noticing some subtle changes on each occasion I go there, mostly small improvements to restaurants and bars and the owners are to be commended on this, however on my last visit there from 28.05.08 to 12.06.08 I Learned that in a bid to improve the well being of all the businesses they made moves to advertise on local radio to encourage custom from other parts of the island, a good idea it is, but I was disappointed to learn some of the bars/restaurants did not contribute, maybe they should have a re-think on this matter as the idea is for the benefit of ALL BUSINESS IN HARAKI. Ok, less of local politics, this is still very much a lovely resort with very friendly people, some of whom I have known for years, IE; Jack and Paula, and Manny at, Jacks bar/Feraklos Restaurant. Manolis, Nick and Steph at the hotel. Sifi at Kapitano's, Jacob at Cocktails, and Sakis at pool bar, and not forgetting George/supermarket, Maria/supermarket or Simon/car hire all friendly folk who help make Haraki the place to go for a really relaxing and enjoyable holiday.

Overall
A most pleasant stay in the luxury of Manny's apartments, well kitted out with all mod cons and spectacular views of the bay. As a lover of good food and restaurants, I have to say, Jack and Manny's decision to employ a first class chef in Lambi, and an exc...
