Had a fantastic time staying at the Alia this summer. Pavlos was the perfect host and the entertainment round the pool bar whether day or night made our holiday!!
I can not disagree futher with the comments that the pool bar had turned the Alia into accomodation from hell. Haraki is a beautiful resort and staying in this accomodation just adds to the perfect holiday combination!

You know what they say........ Some people find fault in anything and I can only think this is true to the previous reviews.
We will definatly be back there next summer and I recommend anyone going on holiday to Haraki to stay in this wonderful accomodation!!!

Alia 1 apartments offers all you could want with holiday accomodation- comfortable room, air conditioning, and above all, friendly and accomodating staff to make the holday a relaxing and enjoyable experience.

The JOY POOL BAR was a fantastic facility to have with the hotel, again offering friendly, helpful and polite staff (nothing was too much trouble), as well as the most comprehensive drinks menu in the whole resort. The owners laid on a free bbq on the Sunday night, enjoyed not only by residents of the Alia 1 hotel but also by others from different accomodation- fantastic service and proof that the Joy Pool Bar was the place to be). Not only that, but their pool is free to use for non-residents aswell!!! I can not speak highly enough of the ALIA 1 and JOY POOL BAR, as it is these sorts of facilities and services that turn a good holiday into a great one.

Some of the reviews that we read prior to coming suggested that Jacks Bar was the place to go in Heraki- i beg to differ.... In terms of the service recieved, Value for money, and friendliness of the staff- the Joy Pool Bar would win hands down, every time. They accomodate every customer and give them all a level of service that is second to none.

In summary- if you want a relaxing and enjoyable holiday in Heraki, choose the Alia 1, and the Joy Pool Bar.... We will....

this holiday was the best holiday of my life!!! alia 1 has to be the best appartments in haraki simply because the food is great the music is amazing and the owner of the bar is sound!! i have to say the people who come to the bar are friendly i really got to know them quite well and they will make you feel at home. joy pool bar is the only bar/appartments in haraki that has a pool. The pool is clean and great fun for you and your mates i would recommend this bar to anyone espically young people between the ages of 16-35 i can promise you will have the time of your life!!!
love to all sophie xxx

Our holiday at Alia 1 was great, the pool bar is really nice, and contrary to what has been said before we found it quiet through the day as the owners son was in bed bless him. We are in our early 50s and ddnt mind the music, if it was a problem you just tell pavlos or the rep and they would sort it. The rep was very good and very honest regarding trips and things, i think she might live on the island all year so is quite knowledgeable, the reason she was there at all hours was because she was called out a lot that we were witness to.
Yes sometimes she stayed and had a drink with us which i dont believe is a bad thing
Haraki is a great place and we are returning in september to look for land to build on as we want to move there, in the meantime we will be returning for holidays at Alia 1 again and again. See you soon Pavlos

Returned to Haraki and could not believe how things had changed since 2005. The Pool Bar at the Alia is worse than Faliraki. The owners son is running it just for him and his friends. Several nights the noise did not stop until near 7am when the cleaners turned up. Their behavior was terrible and the guests all had problems sleeping. The rep was useless as she too participated in the all night sessions. During the day it was noisy but the best time to be by the pool was in the morning when they all slept. The music was supposed to finish at 12 but never did and they were in the pool day and night. Apartments from Hell!

Thank goodness the rest of Haraki has not changed.
All the bars and restaurants are good except Marias, cold food and miserable staff.
Missed Kiss Burger this year but Kostas has taken over and the food is good.
Favourites:
Breakfast..Scottish Paula at Jacks Bar
Lunch...Eleni at Paradiso
Dinner....Malonis and Dina at grill house
Drinks....any bar except POOL BAR.

Will be back to Haraki but will stay anywhere but Alia 1 Studios.

Haraki is a lovely friendly village that pulls you back the following year (this was our third year). There are plenty of good places to eat especially Zogathos opposite Alia 1 here you get traditional Greek food as it should be. Great bars include Bottoms Up on the front where you always get a friendly welcome. Much as I love Haraki and will keep going back I do not think it is really suitable for children, not much for them to do and on the front where most of the bars and eating places are there is a drop of about seven feet onto the pebble beach so you would need eyes in the back of your head!

We stayed at the Alia 1 which we really enjoyed the addition of the bar and pool is great, We are going back to Haraki in September and are really dissapointed it is fully booked so we will have to stay elsewhere, still we will be back at the Alia next year

Our third visit to the wonderful resort of Haraki. As normal the resort was fantastic with great places to eat and drink with even better company. The same can't be said for the Alia 1 Apartments. On our transfer I jokingly said to my husband 'what could of changed in 10 months' a lot as far as these apartments are concerned.

We arrived to be welcomed by something from an 18 to 30's holiday after the addition of a swimming pool and pool bar to the once lovely peaceful apartments. The swimming pool and bar has been well done but is used by the local teenagers, we often had to put up with load music, screaming, shouting and constant car and motorbikes until 3am. If your wanting peace and quiet give the Aila 1 a miss.

It also difficult to actually get a sunbed around the pool due to the teenagers and the younger owner was certainly more interested in ensuring his 'friends' were comfortable before his paying guests. However we didn't let this spoil and holidays and had a great time. A warm welcome was recieved at Bottoms Up from Despina along with Haraki by Night and some fantastic food at Costas and Elenis who are now situated in the Kiss Grill. Da Vincis continues to provide excellent pizzas and Jacobs Irish Coffee in Cocktails and Dreams is the best I've ever had.

We'll be back to Haraki next year, not in the Aila 1, we go to Haraki for the wonderful people, peace, quiet and lack of pool bars. Please, please, please don't spoil it....

On arrival (8hrs exhasting travel and a 4.00AM wake up) we wondered where the beach was, when we discovered it, like the local bar Cocktails and Dreams, were only 40yds away we were delighted. Haraki is quaint, beutiful and peaceful (except for the local motorcycles at night!!)

We found after 3 nights trying to sleep with the apartment window open the noise was too much. We arranged air conditioning to be turned on by the landlord and then enjoyed a peaceful sleep for the rest of our stay. I must comment that the cost was extortionate!! 8 euros/day per air conditioning unit. Our appartment had two rooms thus two payments. 160 euros for 10 nights sleep was a bit OTT but without it the holiday would have been a nightmare.

As for the rooms themselves they were clean, quite well furnished, but basic. For SCatering in Rhodes see ";Go eat in local resturants";!! One cooking ring and a kettle meant an ingenious Paella by my partner and a greek salad. We gave up and just made coffee and tea. The local bars and resturants were plentiful but Kostas and Elenas was by far the best!! Personal service, perfectly prepared food and a reasonable price. Then to step 5 paces into Cocktails and Dreams where Mike made us feel at home and doted on our six year old who had un fortunately broke her arm 2days before we arrived. She had her own tab and ordered PopCorn and ice cream when she wanted. Thankyou Mike,Athena,Kosta and Elena and the little old man who ran the gift store on the front for making our holiday wonderful.

Reccomend you rent a car (MandS) on the front and tour Rhodes. You'll miss so much without it.

The Alia apartments were clean when we arrived, all rooms have fans and air conditioning (which is payable locally) although the bathroom was basic with no shower curtain most people know to expect this in Greece. We had a double bed and a single although this was one of the smaller rooms. The apartment owners were very friendly and helpful and our only gripe would be that the room was only cleaned once during our week long stay, the bins needed emptied more often in that heat.

The resort itself is beautiful, perfect for a relaxing holiday with just enough places to be able to eat somewhere new every night and a handful of bars to drink in. Most of the places to eat face the sea and all were lovely apart from the Maria Taverna which served up raw chicken, when I sent it back to be cooked they obviously just took the chips off the plate and shoved the rest under the grill for 10 minutes then put the chips back - I got blackened chicken, dried out rice and cold chips. We didn't eat in Kostas and Elena's taverna that everyone mentions here until the last night because it wasn't on the sea front. I wish we'd gone sooner as it was the nicest food we had all week, beautifully presented and incredibly cheap. Da Vinci's was lovely too, the best pizza I've had in ages. Kiss grill, Jack's bar and Haraki Sun all did great snack type food at lunchtime.

The beach is shingly and the water is incredibly still and clear so lots of people used snorkels to make the most of this. It costa e6 or e7 for 2 sunbeds plus umbrella each day depending which ones you use. It's worth paying for them as the beach is very pebbly and there isn't a swimming pool anywhere in the resort. Watch out for the four geese on the beach, they go everywhere together and are so cute!

Don't bother booking excursions to go to Rhodes Town or Lindos, the bus runs from the town square every day for a fraction of the price and is air conditioned so very comfortable. Like everyone else in Greece, the bus drivers are really friendly and helpful and will tell you times of return buses. If you happen to go to Lindos the 1 hour glass bottom boat cruise that leaves from the beach is highly recommended, it's only ?10 euros and because it only lasts an hour you don't have time to get bored, or burnt.

My only complaint to Olympic is they didn't give return flight pickup details or leave them on a noticeboard. A note was put under our door telling us what time the rep would be visiting another hotel, with instructions to go and find him where we had to queue for 20 minutes to find out our travel arrangements as he was too busy selling an excursion to another couple. The reason they do this is to force you to hand in your questionnaire about the holiday.

What a beautiful place to stay - Haraki is for you if you want to chill out, relax in the sun, read a book and have good food.

We stayed at the Alia 1 Studios about 100 yards from the sea. They were fine with fans and if you wanted for an extra cost of 9 euros per night you could have air conditioning but we did without it.

Opposite the studios was definitely the best place to eat. A small taverna run by Manolis, his wife Dina (a brilliant cook) and their daughter Demetria. The food was wonderful - you should try the ribs, pork chops and the chick pea croquettes. For ice creams, try Jacks Bar. The best burgers in town are definitely at Kiss, next to Jacks bar and they do a good Chicken Slouvaki.

It is worth climbing up to the top of the castle which has a stunning view, but do it either early morning or in the evening.

We took Captain Georges boat to Lindos - well worth the 18 euros each for it.

We also hired a car for a day and covered the south of the island. Go up into the villages and wander around. Most of them are totally unspoilt. We travelled down to the far tip of the island where the Ionian meets the Egian sea. Rough on one side and calm on the other.

If you are young and like bars and the nightlife, Haraki is not for you, but if you want the quiet life with a few people on the pebbly beach, Haraki is definitely for you. We would not go back to Rhodes as there are too many other islands to see, but we would definitely recommend it.
