"Electra Palace review"
Overall Hotel Rating:
This was our 2nd visit to the hotel. Same time as last year. This time I booked directly with the hotel having booked the flight first.
The hotel is as good as last year, almost all the staff are the same. Without prompt from me, the bar staff looked at us and then commented on seeing us last year so with all the potential thousands of visitors they receive each year it was nice to feel welcomed.
You have read the other reports and I can only say the hotel is as good as the rest say it is. Ok the entertainment is poor but you cannot win them all. If you like to dress up at night and be wined and dined you MUST have a polite word with Harris, the restaurant manager and see of you can book a table in the seperate restaurant. You pay for drink (around £1.50 for a bottle of water upt o around £37 for a bottle of Moet) BUT it is well worth it especially if you are getting fed up with the buffet (not that there is anything to complain about as the food is excellent)
Being all inclusive will mean you are expected to wear a wristband but this does mean there is no questions asked when ordering drinks etc.
Based on my 2 visits you really cannot go wrong with the hotel, so here is some more suggestions
Take a small torch as this will be useful if you want to go out at night to the local resort of lalysos (around a 6 minute walk where you will find quite a few shops, restaurants and other hotels)
If you want to use the sunbeds on the beach they cost 3 euros per sunbed per day OR free if you go around the pool.
A lot of the shops in Rhodes (New Town) closes between 2pm and 5pm so ask before you go out shopping.
Faliraki is around a 20 minute taxi drive, Airport is around a 12 minute taxi drive and Rhodes itself is around 15 minutes. You can use the bus which stops in the hotel car park but since I was on holiday I prefered to go when I was ready and not the the schedule of a bus company.
If you take a radio we picked up HOLIDAYFM on 106.1 which is based in London.
If you like to use your balcony at night, consider buying some 'lemon' smelling candles from the nearby town. The mossies hate the smell of lemon SO if you are prone to being bitten, consider lemon shower gell etc.
I hope you enjoy it as much as us, here's to next year
