Kolymbia is a very very small resort with only a few bars and restaurants. There are a lot of Russians in the resort because most of the Brits tend to be All Inclusive up in the Atlantica hotels so they don't come down to the resort. It's definitely not a resort for party people but worth a wander round the shops after dinner. Make sure you walk round the headland from the hotel to the main Kolymbia beach which is situated round the corner from the beach the hotel looks out on to, it makes a nice change from lying by the pool!
We have just returned from the Atlantica Imperial and we had a wonderful holiday. This hotel is nothing short of fantastic in every way! From the quality of the food, to the quality of the staff we had nothing to grumble about - this was money well spent!...
Kolymbia is a very small resort with a few bars, shops and restaurants. If you explore the resort further you will find a lovely harbour. This is a resort to stay if you do not mind a small, quiet resort centre and evening entertainment at the hotel!

My boyfriend and I visited the Atlantica Imperial at the end of July and had an excellent stay. All aspects of the hotel were of a very high standard, all the staff were friendly, the food was lovely and the hotel rooms and grounds were maintained well. T...

The hotel is right on a stretch of part pebble part sand beach which is almost like having a private beach, very quiet. The small fishing bay and main beach of Kolymbia are just around the corner from the hotel. There is a lovely walk up onto the cliffs with great views out to sea. Kolymbia is a purpose built report with several criss-cross roads with small shops and bars. It was extremely quiet in the evenings. Things to do, Don't bother with the Thomson tours - the buses are great and very cheap, and some of the antics of the drivers provide much better entertainment than the professionals!
Rhodes Town - a must do - a lovely walled city with lots of character and buildings to see. We had hoped to walk the walls but they were closed for renovation. If you walk away from the main tourist centre you find that it is still a working city with people living within the city walls and getting on with their daily lives - just beware of locals darting about everywhere on scooters and motorbikes! If we had longer we would have gone back to see more. To get there catch the Rodos bus right outside the Hotel (bus timetables from reception) just a few Euros - catch the early bus as it does get busy. Lindos - another must do BUT very busy - all the tour buses go there. It does get quieter in the afternoon when the buses have left. The little town is a maze of tiny cobbled streets packed with shops and bars. There is also a lovely little beach but this is also busy. Walking up to the Acropolis affords great views of the area but it is rather expensive to go in and hardly worth it. To get there catch the Lindos bus from outside the Hotel - a few Euros.
We did manage to do some lovely walks. I downloaded some from the internet site of the Rodos Tourism Promotional Organisation Rodosisland.gr. The weather was perfect for walking, warm and sunny but not excessively hot. We did manage a lovely long coastal walk that started at Archangelos (Lindos bus from outside the hotel) to Stegna (another lovely beach) ending up at Haraki, a beautiful quiet beach where the bar owners don't charge you for sun loungers provided you buy the occasional drink from them. The bar owner then called a taxi for us which was the only way we were going to get back to the hotel. Walking for 5 hours we met only a handful of people. The walks are quite detailed but even so we did get lost a few times and you do need good footwear, compass and plenty to drink.
This is a Gold Hotel and the standards are very high. The Junior Suite was the best room and location that we have ever had, very spacious with a 4 poster bed and masses of storage. It was on the ground floor, had it's own little garden with patio, sun loun...
