The hotel is situated in a quiet area surrounded by hills. For a 3 star it met our needs. The rooms were basic and were cleaned every day, beds made and fresh towels, all rooms have a balcony but doesnt mean you get a good view. The grounds were green and lush and very well kempt, the pools and surrounding sun lounge areas were also clean. The reception and welcome were both good, and any problems go to the desk and they are dealt with quickly and efficiently. Food wise there was a good selection but after a while became a little boring. There are two dinning areas. The main room served breakfast and dinner, the other dinning area which was pool side served lunch. Both were very clean and well run by the staff. There are two pools, one for the kids and one for adults ( i wouldnt say this was an ideal hotel or resort for families with small kids as there isnt anything for the kiddies to do except use the pool or a small garden play area) The water in both pools was luke warm which was great and didnt give you the aaarrrggghhhh when you jumped in. There are daytime activities such as darts, waterpolo or water aerobics. Night time there is entertainment of sorts, not my thing but fun to watch. Everything finnishes at 11pm. The AI bar closes at 11pm but the bar stays open and you pay for your drinks after 11pm. There is a coffee machine placed in the bar area and there is usually a selection of cakes of sandwhiches (it is not the same coffee as served at breakfast which is really delicious.the bar coffee is disgusting but you can order coffee at the bar at a charge) There are 2 drinks areas, a lovely little terraced area outside and indoors a cool marble floor with sofas, table and chairs. The beach is 800 metres away, as the crow flies or in a straight line, but it seemed a lot further. There is a hotel bus which takes and collects you from the beach. This is free. There are also buses that stop outside the hotel that will take you to Rhodes and Lindos, both worth seeing. These are not the hotel buses so you do have to pay. A short walking distance from the hotel is a shopping area and is best to go after 6pm when it is cooler to walk around , there are bars and eating places there too. You may want to visit the Palazzo, a small family run restaurant, which is situated at the bottom of the road from hotel. Sit under the vines, lime and pomegranate trees in a relaxing atmosphere. A very good 3 Star and nothing more.

Went on this holiday in June 2007,Found this hotel very beatiful, pool was excellent, hotel staff were nice but wouldn,t do much to help{reception staff}.Bar staff were nicer. Not a lot to do at night apart from drinking and talking with new friends. Plenty of english there, Food was poor, the kids were gutted to find there were no chips on the menu some days so we would go to Nikos resturant which was very nice.Night time entertainment was just two nights a week, karaoke wed and greek night fri.Had a heatwave whilst there, temp was 54 deg , too too hot to do anything apart from drink and as we were all inc we did plenty of that.

All in all a good break from the norm and would go back again.

I have to admit that after booking this holiday I spent the next 3 months feeling sick, mainly because of the reviews on this site, but on arrival those fears faded.

The hotel is very, very clean and all the staff are very friendly and are happy to help at all times of day and night.

As all inclusive guests I was quite disappointed in the food on most days, the choice was minimal and not particually nice, but on the plus side this did encourage us to head into the resort and find the restaurant Nikos (20 minute walk), which was lovely.

The swimming pool was clean and tidy with a lovely view towards a mountain and plenty of sunbeds. The tiles did get slippery but I think this is the case around most pools. One thing to be aware of is that the pool temperature is very fresh, to say the least, but perfect for cooling down on long lazy days.

My overall opinion of this hotel is that I would come back again but as a self catering guest. It was clean, friendly and had a lovely pool but the lack of evening entertainment and choice of food meant that it was not an All Inclusiove hotel.

Hotel Golden Odyssey in Kolymbia was about 20 mins walk from the beach in one direction and 20 mins from the small resort centre of Kolymbia in another. Many friendly bars / tavernas in Kolymbia. Beach very unpleasant, shingle and large pebble.

Golden Odyssey hotel was quite a disappointment in two ways. The first was that the food was inferior, in quality, variety and choice. Breakfast consisted of the ususal continental - ham, cheese, bread, cereal, yoghurt, however of the 7 available hot plates the 3 choices were boiled egg, fried egg and beans - the remaining 4 had a plate of biscuits on each.

Food did not cater for children at all, and most of the meat/fish was covered in unidentifiable sauce. The salad seemed to be yesterdays leftovers mixed together with mayo etc.

The other main problem was that the staff were virtually non-existent, and very unhelpful - especially the reception staff. The famous Greek hospitality was totally lacking there, but we did find this friendly welcome in the local bars. The only friendly staff were the twins who worked in the mini market. We went on a half board basis, and were made to feel like 2nd class citizens next to the fully inclusive customers. We thanked our lucky stars that we hadn't gone all inclusive! The restrictions for all inclusive seemed to be very mean and petty.

The accomodation was very basic, pretty clean, except that the bed linen and towels had seen better days. Air conditioning didn't work, though we found it so cool at night, we had to request blankets along with all the other guests.

The pool area was lovely, but the tiles were very very slippy once wet - many people had falls.
We were told the hotel was 3* (more like 2*), but some visitors from the South of Britain were told it was 4*.
All in all, a hotel never to revisit, and Golden Sun - a tour operator never to travel with again.
The Waterpark in Faliraki is a must to visit - everything was excellent, well maintained and immaculately clean - a great day out.

Boat trip to Lindos - very good, but not long enough in Lindos. We had planned to visit the Acropolis when we got there, but the rep forgot to mention that it was closed due to renovations! Beach lovely.

The Golden Odyssey was ok - the hotel was mainly catering for their German guests and seemed surprised to see an English family! All signs, prices and even food was in German. (quite annoying for anyone who isn't German).
The staff (mainly the nice greek waiter) were friendly but not overly helpful.

Our favourite part of the holiday was Rhodes Town (old walled city) this was fascinating to see....beautiful place and well worth a visit. Lindos was ok but full of tourists and all the crap that the shops sell...shame really.
The beach as Kolymbia was pleasant and the sea lovely and warm. The little hotel bus does regular runs to the beach as it is a good 15 min walk. Not much else to do around the hotel....no restaurants etc to visit really. You have to go into Kolymbia centre or take a bus somewhere else!
Overall pleasant holiday but would not go back to this hotel!
